Chapter 5 Anywhere is hell

Phoebe's POV

I could feel a pair of eyes on my body the whole night but surprisingly I couldn't pry my heavy eyelids open. It felt like there was a force holding them glued together, thus the reason I couldn't open them.

I wafted through several series of deep sleep, and when my eyes finally sprung open, I was met with Alpha Kingston's deep dark eyes staring intensely at me. I gasped.

"Good morning." He said softly, with his hands outstretched as if in a bid to calm me down but I wasn't calm. I couldn't even be calm when I had just found out that he had been watching me in my sleep and could even be the person I had felt looking at me.

"Calm down," he said, "I won't bite you." I visibly relaxed when he uttered those words and even relaxed more when he suddenly stood up to walk toward the room's entrance.

"You're ill and the doctor says that you need tons of rest and food because you're also malnutrition." He said slowly, almost pitifully.

I sucked in a deep breath when I heard the last part, regulators remembering most of the times I had starved while at Mark's pack and blaming it for the reason I was malnutrition.

"Axel, take care of her while I'm away." He said suddenly, making me snap my head up to look at him.

Axel? Who the fuck is Axel?

Just as the thought crossed my mind, a very handsome-looking young man stepped out of a corner of the room and bowed to both Alpha Kingston and me. I gulped.

"I don-don't want to be left alone wit-with him!" I stuttered in panic. I could instantly feel my breath hitch at the prospect of being left alone with a total stranger and was about to voice out another string of complaints when Kingston's voice spoke up.

"You have nothing to be afraid of, he's my beta." He said.

At his utterance, I turned to look at his Beta, to look at him, and sighed when I noticed a small friendly smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He looked like a nice person and had a kind expression on his face.

As soon as Alpha Kingston noticed that I had visibly relaxed, he stepped out of the room without any more words.

I didn't have to worry this time around about the stranger though, for as soon as Alpha Kingston left, he quickly pulled a chair to place it beside me and began chatting away like we had known each other for a while now.

"Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my dress!" A pretty petite lady snapped, throwing off the bed sheet from my body.

I immediately jumped up to stare at her in confusion.

"Excuse me?"

"Stop acting dumb! The fuck! How're you even in here in the first place?!" She snarled, baring her teeth at me.

I was utterly confused to speak, and even if I did have something to say, I was too weak to exchange words with this young lady who distinctly reminded me of Sasha.

The thought of Sasha made my blood boil, and in rage, I sat up slowly to glare at the fiery lady who in turn was glaring hard at me like I had stolen something from her.

"Can't you speak? Or did you lose your tongue while stealing my dress?!" She yelled.

As soon as she spoke, I looked down at my body to discover that I was clad in a beautiful blue dress that looked quite expensive; and from the way it looked, it was obvious that it belonged to this spitfire right in front of me.

...but did I apologize? Hell no!

Why would I apologize when I do not even know when I was dressed up or how it had happened? I slowly looked up at her and feigned the most confused expression I could muster.

"Wench!" She yelled and was about to attack me when Beta Axel ran into the room, as soon as he took in what was happening, he immediately ran forward to stop the girl from hitting him whilst pulling her away from me.

I could hear him muttering some incorrigible nonsense to her in a bid to calm her down but she ignored him while still cursing under her breath as she pointed at me.

"Who the fuck is she?!" I heard her growl but I said nothing even as beta Axel introduced me to her as Alpha Kingston's guest.

To make matters worse.... She was Kingston's younger sister!

A loud Baritone voice sounded from the doorway, and as soon as she heard the voice, she calmed, shrugged Axel off, and walked towards the middle-aged man who looked as though he had more than enough power under his feet.

I marveled at his grace and wondered who he might be to shush the evil princess up without really having to talk much, but I didn't have to think much about it for I was immediately snapped back to reality when he suddenly appeared in front of me. I gasped.

"What's your name, child." He asked gruffly and I had to restrain myself from rolling my eyes at how he had asked.

"Phoebe, but I'm not your child," I replied sassily.

I could see his jaw harden in anger but said nothing to appease the situation. I was already pissed enough as it is.

"You seem quite a rude child." He grumbled, staring down at me with anger-filled eyes while I smiled sweetly up at him.

"And I seem to have noticed something about you," I whispered.

"Which is?"

"Which is the fact that your nose flares whenever you're pissed," I replied in a singsong voice.

As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted it for soloist immediately he raised his hand high in the air and was about to bring it plummeting down my face when Beta Axel suddenly stepped in to protect me.

My breath hitched in my throat, everything felt like it was happening in a haze and my head began to throb, for now, I began to have doubts about staying here.

The people here were just as triggered as those in Mark's pack, and maybe even worse.
