Chapter 3 WHO IS MY MOTHER

GAVIN

WHO IS MY MOTHER?

"Logan Russell." I called, pulling the curtains to his room open. All I heard from his was a groan as he tossed under his covers. "We agreed on you waking up early today, didn't we?"

"But dad..." His little voice of protest came from under the sheets as he pulled it away from his face.

"Your grandmother is here." I said calmly and he sprang out of bed, heading out of the room in full speed. "Get back here you brat and brush your teeth."

The boy just ignored me, rushing out of the room to head to my mother who was serving breakfast downstairs. She had made it her weekend duties to come over and take care of Logan on the weekends and I was grateful for that because the little boy could be a handful sometimes.

I watched as he hugged my mother before running back up the stairs, I guess to prepare for the day because she won't allow him to eat without a proper bath.

His maid bowed as she walked past me to help him prepare for the day. "Have you found her yet?" My mother asked as I walked past her to get my morning coffee.

"No." I stated coldly, lifting my cup to my mouth as I stared at the large picture of Logan and I in the living room on the main wall. "It seemed like she just disappeared."

"I have warned you several times, Gavin. Not all women are after your money and you can't keep treating all of them the same way. No for the past five years, you've been looking for her with no luck." She rolled her eyes as she sat down, turning to look at me.

"I don't care mother. What will you say about all those ladies out there trying to get close to him by one means or the other so they could get married to me. I haven't seen one who is different." I pointed out and it was true. Iris was the only different one and didn't even return to have me take care of her and the baby.

She never even told me she was pregnant and took care of herself till she had the baby. That action alone amused me and I just wanted her and only her no matter how long it takes me to get her back to my side.

"I can never win an argument against you can I?" She asked. "Just know that you should get a woman to take a motherly responsibility for him. He doesn't see me as his mother and he will always miss that true motherly love."

"Are you trying to suggest I get married to another woman other than Iris?" I raised a brow and her silence was just the answer I needed. "If not Iris, then no one."

Logan walked in calmly already dressed in his shirt and trousers. He sat at the other end of the table and I sat opposite him.

"So how was your week, Logan?" I asked him, pulling the covers of my food away.

"The usual. Little girls trying to date me even though I'm not interested." Logan shrugged.

"Sometimes, I forget you're four." My mother said and Logan shook his head negatively.

"I'll be five in a few weeks. I'm no longer four." He pointed out.

"Yes, yes. I didn't forget." Mother let out a sigh. "I'm just blessed with two bratty sons."

"You deserved it." I shrugged and she glared at me.

"So father, I heard we're attending a gala tonight." Logan looked up at me and I nodded. "Can I not go?"

"Not an option young man." I replied and I heard him sigh. "You've refused to go to the last ten events because you think no one of your age would be there but this time around, there will be so I don't see any reason why mother has to babysit you. And besides, she has some party to attend to."

He looked at my mother for confirmation and she nodded to confirm what I just said. "Fine." He grumbled. "But please, no bodyguards. I want to be alone."

"As you wish." I replied and breakfast continued in silence.

After breakfast, I headed straight to my study where Jerry was busy arranging some things on my table since I didn't allow any of the maids in, he did the cleaning himself. "Any news on her?" I asked, sitting at my desk.

"Yes." He replied, picking up his iPad and handing it over to me. "As we have suspected, she is a Green. And the new CEO of the Green family business. She hasn't been making any public appearance due to the Green family's usual secretive self."

"So she would be at the gala tonight?" I asked and he nodded affirmatively.

Finally, after over five years, I can finally have her back. She has a lot of explaining to on on why she didn't come to even look at our son for once. Logan has been very good and never asked about her and just went along with my mother acting as his mother.

"Young master asked if he could be homeschooled again..."

"Forget it. He's not getting any homeschooling anytime soon." I cut him off before he could complete the little brat's request. I wondered why he had to take more of Iris's character of being very stubborn because I am sure I am not as stubborn and feisty as she is.

"Yes, my alpha." He bowed before walking out of the office and I just stared at Iris's picture which was on my desk. My fingers ran across her face with a smile. Finally, after all these years I would meet her again.

I'm sure Logan had seen her picture the few times he had entered my office but still, he never asked about her which I found suspicious but never questioned him about it either because I knew it would bring up a talk on Iris and I wasn't ready to tell him it was all my fault that he didn't have his mother here.

Knowing him, he would probably plan my death starting from that day and execute his plan once he finds Iris. "Well, he took that from you." Gray said lazily.

"You're becoming quite lazy these days, Gray. Looks like we need some group of people to fight." I commented.

"We literally killed a bunch of rogue wolves few days ago. Can't a wolf have his rest again?" I could hear the annoyance in his tone but that was part of what I lived for, to annoy him.

I sat at my desk till evening when it was time to prepare for the gala and I went on to prepare while I asked Jerry to drag the little guy out of his library where I was sure he was.

As I walked down the stairs to my car which was parked right outside the mansion and I could see Logan leaning against the door as he looked up at me. "Don't bother speaking." I raised my hand to shut him up and he just shrugged before letting himself into the car.

The drive to the location we were heading to was silent and as we reached the location which was already bustling with people, he asked a question that made my slam on the brakes, hard.

"Dad, why does everyone have a mum and I don't?"
