Chapter 5 Watch out

Looking at myself in the mirror, I could not afford to smile at all. Donned in the most beautiful gown and gold earrings, I was sure going to be the most beautiful woman in the party yet my mind wandered back to the words that lady said to me.

A knock by the door interrupted my train of thoughts. A moment later, my mother pushed the door open.

She offered me a smile and I forced one out.

"I can't believe you are so grown up. It just feels like yesterday when we found you." She said, her words making me frown.

" Found me?" I inquired.

I swear I saw my mother tense before she laughed it off.

" When I held you in my arms." She corrected herself.

"Let's go, the party is about to start and everyone is waiting for you." She said, offering me her hand which I took without uttering another word.

My mother led me outside and to the ballroom where everyone was gathered to celebrate my birthday.

"The birthday girl arrives." The emcee announced just in time for the doors to be pulled open.

A red carpet was erected leading to the dancing floor.

As I stepped inside, gasps and murmurs filled the room as thousands of eyes stared at me.

Despite being the Alpha's daughter, I have always loved to stay away from the limelight and the attention I was getting was becoming overbearing.

It didn't help that the mark on my shoulder was seriously itching. I just wanted to rush back to my room and scratch it, something that always makes the situation worse.

Standing at the center of the dancefloor was Damian dressed in a three piece suit looking charming as always. A smile bloomed on my face as my mind started imagining him standing at the altar as I walked down the aisle dressed in White.

" Tonight is your night. You will have your opening dance with your brother." My mother informed me, passing my hand to Damian who took it gracefully.

Then I felt them, the sweet electrifying tingles that spread throughout my body when he touched me. Damian seemed taken aback and the next moment, he whispered the words that shocked both of us.

" Mate," He called.

Surprisingly, the itching stopped and Venus confirmed the bond.

For a moment, we stood there, too shocked to even react until the soft music started playing in the background.

Thankfully, the lights were dimmed, otherwise how would others perceive our reaction.

I was the first one to recover from the shock. Venus was howling happily in my mind, repeatedly calling mate. Shoving her at the back of my mind, I managed a smile.

" Can I have this dance, mate?" I said and only then did Damian give me a reaction.

Blinking his eyes severally, he nodded his head. Placing his other hand on my waist, we started moving to the beat but everything about Damian screamed robotic.

" Isn't he happy?" Venus inquired. I could feel that Damian's reaction really saddened her. I mean who wouldn't? Why was he acting like he didn't like the idea of being mated to us?

" He is just shocked. Let's just give him time." I answered her. I don't know if I was trying to convince her or myself.

Throughout the dance, Damian said no word to me.

When the song ended, he walked away, without saying a word.

Being the birthday girl, everyone wanted to either dance, chat or toast to me but my mind was somewhere else.

After hours of pure torture, I finally found an opportunity to escape. Leaving the ballroom, I made my way to the restroom.

I hadn't walked for long when someone pushed me and pinned me against the floor.

Before I could register what was happening, his lips slammed against mine in a heated kiss. Damian's sweet scent wafted into my nose and I could not help but moan.

Damian kissed me with a burning passion and I kissed him back with the same intensity.

His lips were so soft against my own and I wanted more. His kisses were just as I always imagined, sweet and addictive.

The sound of someone clearing their throat interrupted our session.

Breaking apart, my eyes widened seeing who stood there, watching us.

" Alicia..." I called. Damian turned around to face and the next moment, the sound of a slap echoed through the air.

" Liar! Is this the ex you were talking about?" Alicia asked. I could see the pain on her face and feel it in her voice.

" I can explain," Damian started but Alicia chuckled dryly.

" What's there to explain? I clearly caught you kissing your own sister." Alicia accused him.

" She is not my... "

" Watch out!" I cried, pushing Alicia out of the way and kicking the masked man who was about to stab her.

" Attack! The pack is under attack!"
