Chapter 5 my child's room

Chapter 5

As I entered my child's room, I saw a bright and lively space with walls covered in posters of his favorite superheroes and cartoons. A small bookshelf held picture books and toys.

In the center of the room, his bed looked comfortable with dinosaur-themed bedding and a soft stuffed animal. Toys were scattered across the floor.

As I watched my child sleep peacefully, I felt grateful for the happiness he brings me. He brought me back to life when I thought I was about to die.

"Goodnight, my baby," I said as I kissed his forehead.

While gazing at my child, I couldn't help but admire his charm. There's no doubt, he resembles Nolan. I tried to ignore it, but I couldn't; they look so much alike.

I won't let anything bad happen to my child or let him experience any pain. I can be selfish, for my child's sake.

I was about to leave my child's room when my eyes caught a paper on the table next to the bed. I picked it up and read it.

I tightened my grip on the paper.

The paper contained photos of various men with numbers written next to them. I noticed that the men in these photos resembled my child.

My hand trembled as I saw the number one photo: Nolan Vasquez.

'Kieran... how did you do this?'

I know my child is smart, but I can't help but fear how far his intelligence goes. How did he find pictures of various men who look like him? All this time, he's been searching for his dad?

I told him his dad had died before he was born. I lied, but it was for his own good.

But I wasn't entirely lying. It's true that Nolan, who loved me seven years ago, died. I tried to live, but I couldn't handle it; I was cast aside and almost lost myself.

"I'm so sorry, Kieran. But this is for your own good. I'll protect you," I said.

Now that Nolan and I are together, I plan to force him to leave me. I don't want him to enter our lives after everything that happened seven years ago.

I sighed after remembering what happened yesterday.

I thought of calling Nay Coring because Nolan might really take my phone, and I wouldn't be able to check on my child, but there was an unexpected call.

"Delilah!" I greeted her when I answered her video call. Her sharp face appeared on the screen.

[Yes, it's me.]

I rolled my eyes at her wink.

"Why are you at my house? I thought you were still on vacation?" I asked, noticing her location.

[I was planning to return to Amethystia, but my sister told me to bring my grandchild along.]

I couldn't help but laugh at what she said.

Delilah is my mom's youngest sibling, and since we are close in age, she's essentially my aunt, and Kieran is her grandchild.

And my request to my mom was to keep Kieran away from here so they wouldn't meet Nolan.

[Tell me, what really happened? I feel like something major happened while I was having fun alone.]

I sighed. "It's a long story..."

[Just shorten it! I don't understand why my grandchild needs to be kept away from Citrino so urgently.]

I averted my gaze. I knew there would be endless explanations if she learned the real reason.

I was about to speak when I heard a very cute voice on the other line.

[Mommy!]

I felt a wave of relief when I saw my child's happy face, obviously having taken Delilah's phone.

[Miss you so much, Mommy! Grandaunt said she's taking me to a nice place. Why?!]

It warmed my heart. "I miss you too, baby. But I have something very important to take care of right now, and it might take a while. So you need to stay with grandaunt for now."

He pouted.

"But I promise I'll make it up to you, baby," I said gently. After all this, everything will return to normal. I'll be able to be with my child again.

Suddenly, my child's face grew serious, and I couldn't help but stare at him. [Mommy, don't worry. I'm grown up now. I'll have lots of money so we can be together all the time!]

I couldn't help but laugh at what he said.

"Yes, baby... but first, you need to be a good child for grandaunt," I said.

He smiled sweetly. [Yes, Mommy! I love you so much!]

"I love you too, baby," I said with affection.

Suddenly, a chill ran through my body as a cold voice echoed in the room. "Do you want me to cut out your tongue? Repeat that, Cecilia."

I saw Nolan leaning against the door with his arms crossed. His presence was intimidating and commanding, exuding an aura of control and authority.

I quickly ended the call, barely able to hide my nervousness.

"Are you eavesdropping on other people's conversations? I didn't know the Vasquez family had that kind of behavior. So you have a bit of a gossiping streak," I said irritably, trying to mask my trembling voice. Fortunately, I didn't stutter.

He simply stared at me. Each passing second intensified the pounding in my chest. I hadn't noticed his presence before. Had he been there for a while? What had he heard?

He started walking toward me. I felt each step increase my anxiety. He stopped right in front of me, took my phone from my hand, and put it into his pocket.

"Don't think of anyone else, my love," he said tenderly. He touched my cheek and stroked it. I didn't speak or complain about him taking my phone.

I really can't understand this man's mood. Is this what they call bipolar? Sometimes he's angry, then he'll stare at me, and after a few minutes, he'll become sweet again or show a different emotion.

"Let's go. We're heading to Amethystia for our engagement party." I felt like I was deafened by his words.

Amethystia? Delilah is going to take Kieran there!

"What are you talking about? I don't want to have an engagement party or a wedding. Just give me the contract, and I'll sign it," I said, removing his hand from my cheek.

"And I don't want to go anywhere. I'll stay here," I added.

He ignored what I said. He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room. "The private jet is ready. We're going to Amethystia right away."

My heart pounded harder.

"Can't you listen to me? I can't leave here. My life is in Citrino," I insisted.

He stopped and faced me. "Why? Is it because you can't leave your 'baby boyfriend' here?"

I was taken aback. "What do you mean?"

"Is it right for you to have another boyfriend while you're engaged to me?"

'Baby boyfriend'? Does Nolan think I was talking to a child earlier? Does he think it was Travis I was speaking with?

"Merlin, disrupt the operations of Harrington Company," Nolan instructed Merlin as if he were asking him to buy eggs.

"Wait! What?! No!" I was met with Nolan's sharp gaze. I didn't want to ruin Travis's company just because of this man's misunderstanding. "I'll go anywhere with you, but not to Amethystia, and leave Travis alone."

He stared at me again. "And force it to shut down immediately, Merlin."

I felt like the sky had fallen with Nolan's order. I was confused. I couldn't understand him!

"You can't do that to Travis, Nolan! What do you want to make you leave him alone, huh?" I asked irritably.

Nolan brought his face close to mine. He spoke slowly, emphasizing each word. "Block him from your life forever."

I couldn't avoid the quickening of my heartbeat with his face so close to mine. I swallowed. "Yes, I will do it without hesitation."

A small smirk appeared on his charming face.

"That's my woman," he said, kissing me on the lips and continuing to assert his claim over me.

In that moment, it was clear that he saw me as his and his alone.

He then pulled me out of his mansion. As we stepped outside, we were greeted by a row of guards.

I couldn't help but worry.

"Nolan, can you please return my phone? I need to tell my parents about this," I said to Nolan, but he ignored me.

Merlin opened the door for us, and Nolan led me inside the car, sitting beside me.

"Nolan!"

The car began to move. Nolan simply held my hand. "That's not something you should be concerned about, love."

I was even more worried because I knew he wouldn't let me call my parents. All I could do was hope that they wouldn't cross paths with my child in Amethystia.

As the car stopped, I saw a runway with a private jet parked on it. We were led out of the car and onto the jet.

The private jet was parked on the edge of a lush green airstrip, surrounded by towering palm trees swaying gently in the warm breeze.

Nolan placed his hand on my waist as we approached the private jet. Stepping onboard, we were greeted by the luxurious interior of the jet, with plush leather seats and soft ambient lighting.

As we sat down, I realized that we were indeed going to Amethystia. Delilah and Kieran were also heading there.

"Nolan, I was thinking of having our engagement party at Opalonia," I said softly, meeting his deep gaze.

He stared at me, making me even more anxious. "You seem to be avoiding something about Amethystia. What could it be?"

I tried to steady myself and not look away.

"What do you mean? I just think it's best to have our engagement party at Opalonia, where your business empire is."

"That's interesting. But Amethystia is the perfect place for it, love."

I bit my lip and looked away.

"I understand your point, but I feel that Opalonia would be more suitable for our celebration," I explained.

Nolan smiled and replied, "I hear you, but Amethystia holds a special charm that I believe will make our engagement unforgettable."

I took a deep breath.

Unforgettable, huh? I guess I have nothing to do with this.

As the jet flew higher, I saw trees and mountains below, but I couldn't enjoy the view because I was worried that Nolan and Kieran might meet in Amethystia.
