He checked his time and knew that its pretty late to attend Sunday service but not like he cares anyway.
He stood in front of his mirror admiring himself as he dressed up for church looking like a demi god.
That was Miles Jackson, the cold blooded young billionaire who insisted on living in his own house away from his immediate family. He started managing his father's conglomerates at 19 and for the past 5 years, he has excelled beyond imagination. Apart from his father's investments, he had his own estates, companies in different parts of the countries.
He had plenty of servants at his beck and call but you get fired at the tiniest mistake. He was quick tempered, rude, arrogant and grumpy at the same time but the most surprising thing is that he doesn't care what anyone thinks about him.
In the eyes of some people, he is a bad influence. In the eyes of some people, mostly ladies, he is every woman's dream. In the eyes of some people, the likes of Yvonne, he doesn't deserve to live. In the eyes of some, his pride and arrogance should be counted as an offence punishable by law because it is at its peak.
But he believes that everyone should choose their own eyes and see him in peace.
He doesn't even want to breath the same air with those people below his class.
Some people say he has no heart nor emotions. If you get on his bad side then you will witness the venom of a ruthless billionaire. He believes that money answereth all things.
"Prayers moves heaven and money moves the earth" that's what he believes.
Looking at his reflection in the mirror for the 50th time, he suddenly felt like there is something he should remember but it wasn't coming.
He felt a splitting headache hit him the second time and held his head, then it started coming back, the memories of last night.
The anniversary ended late, he remembered having a drink and that got him feeling tipsy. Something is definitely off because he is a heavy weight.
That wasn't the issue here. The problem is the girl.
There was a freaking girl!!!
Who was that girl that took advantage of his helpless state?
Heaven knows that the moment he lay his eyes on whoever that girl is, she was going to rot in prison. How dare she!
The worst part of it is that he doesn't even remember her face.
Scratching the back of his head in frustration, he picked up his diary and penned down the little details he remembered from last night, but it still didn't make sense. His diary was his gossip mate. He wouldn't want anyone to come close to it no matter who you are. The diary contain every details of his life, past and present, the good and ugly ones inclusive.
Its now obvious that he was going to miss Sunday service but then again 'who cares'
"I thought we would go to work together tomorrow and then you go home from there" Winnie asked Angel who channeled all her attention to her hair, brushing it vigorously.
"Why did you even leave the party without telling me" Winnie pressed moving closer to Angel
"Wait, your bag was still there when I left. I called your phone and it vibrated inside your bag. Something is not adding up. Angel where did you go?" Winnie asked but still Angel didn't turn air even give her an answer.
She had come to Winnie instead of going home. She needed to clear her head from what happened at the party. Her brother has been calling nonstop but she would explain things to him later, not just now.
Angel felt the tears burning her eyes, threatening to fall. What was she going to say? The bitterness was tearing her apart but she dare not voice it out.
"Angel you are scaring me. Are you crying?" Winnie asked and forcefully turned her around to see her eyes glistening with tears.
"I'm fine" Angel said trying to remove Winnie's hand from hers but Winnie held her tight.
"You are fine. Really? With the tears? Angel, tell me seriously, what happened yesterday?" Winnie asked and Angel sniffed without answering.
"Angel you are scaring me" Winnie said with a broken voice and tears streamed down Angel's eyes in single lines dropping on her cloth.
Tears.
More tears.
Instead of responding, Angel hugged Winnie but broke the hug when their bodies has barely touched. She picked her bag and left the house leaving a confused Winnie standing.
In a few minutes which looked like ages to Angel, she boarded a taxi going to her house. There was a dark circle around her eyes. Confusion. Fear.
The rebellious condition of her home won't even let her live in one piece if anything happens.
'Angel let this be your biggest secrets' her mind told her.
Pushing the event of last night behind her, she smiled not knowing the reason why.
🌻THE JACKSON'S MANSION🌻
"When did your brother leave the party?" Mr Jackson, a man in his forties asked his son as he descended the stairs.
Silence.
"Ryder, didn't you hear what your father asked?" Eunice a woman in her early forties asked and Ryder rolled his eyes.
"That was a good question directed to the wrong person. Do I look like his guard or babysitter. He is old enough to take care of himself. Let me breath" Ryder said and started going upstairs.
Mr Jackson looked at him in silence and went to sit beside his wife. He knows that talking to Ryder at this point is useless.
Ryder was still on the stairs when he heard the sound of car, he knew that his brother was home. Talk of the devil and he appears. He turned around and went back to the living room.
Despite Ryder's sharp mouth, he doesn't joke with his brother and same goes to Miles. They don't joke with any member of their family.
The door opened and Miles stepped in with his usual cold face. He greeted his parents and bumped fist with Ryder, before taking a seat.
"Why did you call me so early?" Miles asked his father.
"Why didn't you return my call" Mr. Jackson asked
"Is that why you called me?" Miles asked
"When did you leave last night? I wanted to introduce you to someone" Mr Jackson said
"Who?" Miles asked
"A friend" Jackson said.
"And his daughter" Ryder added with a naughty smile.
"Why do you want me to meet this friend of yours?" Miles asked
"Ok. Let's cut to the chase. You will be engaged to his daughter next week. Saturday" Jackson said and Miles looked at him in disbelief.
"What? Engaged? I never said I want to marry" Miles said
"So you want to dies single. God forbid" Ryder said and Miles glared at him.
"Stop glaring at me and fall in love. It will change your life trust me" Ryder said and stood up.
"Why did you stand?" Miles asked
"I'm going to my room, I just remembered that I have something to do" Ryder said and ran upstairs.
A maid came to serve them wine and Miles asked her to make him a cup of coffee instead.
Few minutes later, the maid returned and handed the cup of coffee to Miles.
Miles poured the coffee on her and she screamed.
"You dare serve me without gloves? Dad where did you bring this pig from?" Miles asked.
The maid tried to run into the kitchen because of the hotness of the coffee. Her skin must be red right now.
"And where the hell are you going?" Miles asked and stood up moving closer to the girl who was crying and shaking in fear.
"I asked you a question. Where are you going to?" Miles asked again.
"To clean up sir" the girl responded and Miles threw the cup at her and luckily for her, she caught it.
"Clean up this mess" Miles said and the maid ran off to get a mop to clean the coffee.
