Chapter 4 FOUR

The air was thick with the scent of blooming wildflowers and soft murmurs of incantations by the priestess. Various Alpha's from various packs gathered around the sacred grounds.

I was dressed in a flowy long white dress while my hair was held up by pins and beads. My skin was adorned with crescent markings, very similar to the ones on Drako's skin. I looked up at him and he had a warm smile on his face, he gave my hand a gentle squeeze before focusing back on the words of the priestess.

Ever since what happened at his house, I had a feeling of doubt about the mating ritual. The Drako I had met in that study wasn't the one standing in front of me now; unlike the cold countenance and hard eyes from then, he had a breathtaking smile on his face and his eyes shone with excitement.

The ritual began and all my doubting thoughts were pushed aside, there was no going back now. Everyone had closed their eyes as the priestess began chanting out incantations, calling upon the power of the land to bless our union.

My heart skipped a beat when Drako placed his lips in my hand and gave it a soft kiss. It was quick but I could still feel the burning sensation a minute later.

The priestess handed us a goblet to drink from before raising up her hands in the sky for a final incantation. A golden light suddenly enveloped us and as her final words were spoken, Drako pulled me close and claimed my lips in a fierce, passionate kiss.

I was still in a daze when he pulled away and the cheers from the crowd erupted through the forest.

I looked up at Drako who had a smile on his face. "My Luna." he mouthed.

The priestess smiled, a knowing light on her eyes. "May the ancestors bless you both and may your bond remain unbreakable even till death."

Drako led me down the shrine into the crowd. I got warm smiles and words of congratulations from people who months ago had shun me and subjected me to a life of loneliness.

Drako wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer, his hot breath nuzzling my ear. "You're mine now Hayley. Always and Forever."

I struggled to come up with a reply but it proved futile as his warm breath sent tremors through my body, ridding me of all sense.

"I'm debating, congratulating you or feeling sorry for you." A voice said, snapping me back to reality. It was Alpha Lucas.

Drako stood upright and moved closer to him. "And why would you be sorry for me Lucas?" he said, his voice low.

"She's a cursed child Drako, I don't understand why you'd..."

He didn't finish his sentence before Drako grabbed his neck. "When you are speaking about my Luna, I expect some respect." He growled.

I could hear the low growls in the crowd, from Drako and Lucas's betas.

I placed my hand on his back. "It's okay Drako, let's avoid a scene."

Drako kept his eyes on Lucas, his nails threatening to come out. "You're lucky she saved your worthless life, but the next time anyone tries disrespecting my Luna, I'll have their heads on spikes." He pushed Lucas away before wrapping his hands around my shoulders and walking away.

The sun was setting and it was time for the Kaylamia, the final celebration of our mating under the full moon.

The full moon casted a silver glow around the forest. The trees were decorated with blue lights and their branches danced freely to the rhythm of the wind. My feet were bare and I and Drako danced freely to the tune of the music, my dress flowing behind me.

The music was lively and wild, a folk tune played on fiddles and drums. It was a werewolf tradition, a celebration of life and love and the full moon. I felt alive, free, and unbridled, like I was one with the forest, the music and the night.

Drako's smile didn't waver all through the night, his eyes shone bright with happiness and his face remained relaxed and joyful. We laughed and danced, our sweats gleaming in the moonlight.

I scanned the crowd for my mother, and there she was dancing and laughing freely like she had no worry in the world. My heart swelled at her happiness, the one thing I had sacrificed everything for.

As the music reached its climax, Drako spun me around, his arms wrapping around me like a vice. I let out a giggle but it drowned immediately as his lips claimed mine. I shivered, my body responding to his touch like it was made for him.

The music finally died down but we still remained glued to each other and all I could hear were our heavy breathing as the rest of the world faded away. I kept his gaze and I knew in that moment, I was his, body and soul.

After the Kaylamia was over, people still remained, getting drunk and dancing to the addictive music. Drako and I walked hand in hand through the forest. The trail was designed with the same blue lights at the festival. The night air was crisp and cool and the thrill from the part was finally wearing off, replaced by nervousness and anticipation.

"I truly apologize about the incident with Lucas, he was out of line." Drako said.

I gave him a wry smile. "It's okay. I have been treated like that for so long that it doesn't hurt anymore. Everyone treats me like some outcast."

He gave my hand a gentle squeeze. "No one will ever look down on you again Hayley, I swear it."

I glanced at him and smiled. "Perks of being the Luna of one of the most powerful packs."

He chuckled. "Yes."

The trail lights had finally come to an end, and I could see a cabin ahead.

"My beta's are probably lurking around my house because of the Kaylamia, so I just thought it'd be better here." Drako said.

A nervous smile formed on my lips. "It's perfect."

He said nothing after but his eyes burned with fierce intensity and I felt a flutter in my chest, mostly from excitement rather than fear.

He opened the door, pulling me inside with a gentle tug. The cabin was dimly lit, the fire crackling softly in the hearth. Drako's eyes never left mine as he led me to the bedroom, his movements slow and deliberate.

As we reached the bed, he stopped, his gaze burning into mine. "Tonight, we seal our bond," he whispered, his voice low and husky.

I nodded, my voice caught in my throat.

Drako moved closer to me, his hands on my waist, and then, his lips were on mine.

It was soft and gentle, yet full of promise.

The rest of the night was a blur of whispers, touches, and soft murmurs, a love that I was sure I would never get used to.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. As I slowly opened my eyes, I found Drako staring at me, a gentle smile on his face.

"Good morning my love." He whispered, his voice husky with sleep.

"Good morning." I replied shyly.

He dropped a kiss on my forehead and tightened his grip around me."I have a surprise for you, think of it as a mating gift."

I furrowed my brows. "You got me a gift? What is it?"

He smiled down at me, his eyes shining with excitement. "I found it, Hayley. I found the cure to your mother's wolf's bane disease."
