Chapter 5 You can't be serious!

She tried not to overthink, but the only thought she had was that this person was very dangerous, and she shouldn't stay here. She didn't want to explain anymore, quickly put the cup down, and walked past him to leave.

Unexpectedly, just as she reached the door, Liam, like a predator, lunged from behind, grabbing her waist, and with one hand, closed the door, pressing her against it.

"What are you doing? Let go!" Elaine never thought there would be a day when the big boss, with whom she only exchanged simple work-related conversations, would act this way. She was so scared she screamed.

But what good was that? It was the weekend, and even the security guards wouldn't be patrolling.

Liam easily pinned her flailing arms behind her back. His tall frame pressed her against the door, immobilizing her.

"You seduced me!" He whispered in her ear, those words sounding like a spell.

"No, no, Director, you must be mistaken," Elaine's voice trembled, tinged with sobs. She felt his vile desire rising behind her.

Liam's voice was both eerie and cold as he continued in her ear, "Yes, you did. I said this is a company, not a nightclub, yet you dress like this. With just the two of us here, what else could it be but seduction?"

"I really didn't. Many female colleagues in the company also wear short skirts," Elaine's voice trembled as she continued to explain.

"You did. I know you've always tried to seduce me. At the bar, you came to confess to me. Later, you wouldn't give up, joining my company and deliberately becoming the CEO's assistant. You went through all this trouble to get close to me, wasn't it to seduce me?"

Elaine wanted to cry. Only now did she realize that Director Anderson was a complete psychopath, his mind twisted. She tried to struggle and explain, "What bar? I don't know what you're talking about. Before joining Anderson Group, I didn't know you at all. Being transferred to the CEO's assistant wasn't my choice; it was HR's arrangement. I never seduced you. I have a boyfriend, and we're getting married soon. How could I seduce you?"

"Lies! Women are all about saying one thing and meaning another, playing hard to get. Boyfriend, my foot! Don't think I don't know. You couldn't seduce me, so you found a backup."

"Are you insane?" Elaine shouted angrily, realizing she couldn't reason with him, wishing she could slap him.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she said that, Liam grabbed her chin, forcibly turned her head, and kissed her abruptly.

Elaine had never experienced such a terrifying kiss, direct and brutal. Her jaw hurt from his grip, she couldn't close her mouth, and he took advantage, plunging his hot, wet tongue into her mouth, swirling it around. Finally, he firmly sucked on her tongue, making loud smacking noises.

The kiss was like a wild beast's, quickly depleting Elaine's oxygen. Liam, feeling her weaken, released her bruised cheeks, satisfied as he continued to tease and entangle her tongue.

Apparently, Liam was extremely pleased with this long kiss, finding it even better and sweeter than he had imagined.

Elaine thought, who could be looking for her so urgently? She took her bag and pulled out her phone, but the ringing had already stopped. When she looked at the screen, her joyful expression from the photo shoot suddenly darkened.

It was Director Anderson. The scariest part was the 15 missed calls, all from Director Anderson.

Elaine couldn't figure out what was so urgent on a weekend that Director Anderson would call 15 times. Was Anderson Group about to collapse? But even if it were, what could a small assistant like her do?

Despite these thoughts, Elaine nervously called back. After two rings, the call was answered. She cautiously asked, "Director, what can I do for you?"

Liam's icy voice came from the other end. "Get to the office immediately for overtime, within thirty minutes."

Elaine hadn't even had time to find an excuse before Director Anderson hung up.

Elaine was so angry she wanted to swear. She took a deep breath, looked at Sam apologetically, and shrugged. "I'm sorry, the boss is calling me to the office."

Unexpectedly, Sam wasn't angry but smiled awkwardly, as if relieved. He held her hand and said, "It's okay, it's urgent work. We'll take more photos next time." Then, thinking for a moment, he held her hand tighter. "But no matter how busy, don't forget to take half a day off next week to register."

Elaine nodded. In fact, she had already requested leave the previous week, using a health check-up as an excuse. When she submitted the leave request, although Liam wasn't pleased, he still approved it.

Because she had to rush to the company, Elaine could only go back to the studio to change out of her wedding dress. When she arrived at the company, Liam's office door was wide open, indicating he had been there for a while. Elaine knocked and entered, cautiously asking, "Director, is there an urgent matter?"

Liam was looking at his computer and didn't bother to look up. He casually tossed her a stack of documents. "These contracts and drawings need to be revised by the end of today."

After a half-day wedding photo shoot, Elaine was exhausted. Seeing the thick stack of papers, she felt like crying.

Noticing she wasn't leaving immediately, Liam finally looked up, irritated, and asked, "Is there a problem?"

Elaine snapped back to reality, took a deep breath as if swallowing back her tears, and quickly shook her head. "No, no, I'll do it right away."

She worked straight through until 8 PM.

Finally finishing her work, Elaine knocked on Liam's door, placed the documents on his desk, and said, "Director, I've finished. Please check if there are any issues."

Liam, lazily leaning back in his chair, picked up the documents and began to review them.

You can't be serious! She was just saying that. Reviewing this stack would take hours, and she wanted to leave immediately.

Seeing no reaction from Liam, Elaine huffed and left, returning to her desk.

As soon as she sat down, she remembered she hadn't had dinner, and her stomach growled. The company cafeteria was closed on weekends, and she was too tired to wait for delivery, so she headed to the break room to find some snacks.

Elaine made herself a cup of coffee, took a big pack of cookies from the fridge, and, exhausted, sat on the table. She kicked off her high heels, leaned against the wall, swung her legs, and started eating and humming.

In just two days, she would be married.

Although she and Sam never had a passionate romance, she believed that a relationship should be as natural and gentle as a flowing stream.
