Chapter 4 Be My Secret Lover

Kayley's face flushed crimson with anger, her fury eclipsing her fear as she glared at Aaron. "You have the nerve to mention that?" she spat. "You're the one who hurt me!"

She shoved him away, but the painful memories came rushing back.

The dance troupe had been on a world tour. Kayley had discovered Aaron's betrayal and, heartbroken, decided to leave him and the country for good. Before she could board the plane, he'd run to her and begged her to stay.

During their heated argument, he'd accidentally pushed her down the stairs, shattering her leg.

The injury was severe, forcing her to miss the tour and even ending her dancing career. Her world had crumbled.

But the worst was yet to come. Under the guise of helping her recover, Aaron had become her captor, isolating her from the outside world for several months to come.

Only last night had she managed to escape.

At that time, Melinda was still on a plane back to the country, and Kayley was afraid that if she waited outside Melinda's house, Aaron would find her. Desperate and with nowhere else to go, she pinned all her hopes on Brayden and went to his house, never expecting...

"I'm sorry, Kayley," Aaron said, his hands finding her shoulders. "Give me another chance. I'll take care of you, I promise. I can give you anything you want..."

"I just want you to let go of me!" she snapped, wrenching herself free. Kayley sneered and asked, "You have a new girlfriend. How can you possibly take care of me? Do you think I'm a fool and will still believe what you say as usual?"

"No, listen," Aaron insisted, pulling her back into his arms, his voice soothing. "I was just playing along for us and for our future. I love you and only you. Please don't push me away. We can be like before. Just obey me, and I'll give you everything except for the position of my wife."

"For us and our future?" Kayley scoffed, breaking free from his embrace. "When did you become such a hypocrite? Or maybe I never knew the real you. What you do isn't for us but for the power and control! Don't even think about making me your secret lover!"

Aaron's grip tightened as he was irritated by Kayley's harsh words. "Don't test me, Kayley. You know what I'm capable of. If you dare to leave me, you won't survive in Ocrivale. And I've already talked to your dance troupe. Even if your leg heals, they won't have you back. You'll never dance again, not for anyone but me!"

Rage consumed Kayley. She slapped him hard.

"You monster!" Her chest violently heaved. "There's no point in threatening me! I'd rather die than go back with you!"

Aaron's patience snapped. He lunged for her, intending to carry her away. But Kayley was ready. As he bent, she kneed him hard in the groin.

"Ah!" Aaron doubled over, howling in pain, giving her the chance to escape.

Ignoring her throbbing leg, Kayley fled down the labyrinthine corridors of the club. She'd been running for what felt like ages but still hadn't found that exit. However, she stumbled upon the room Melinda had described.

Disheveled and breathless, she hesitated. Could she really charm Brayden like this?

But Aaron was close behind. With a determined grit, she pushed open the door.

The room was a blur of noise and chatter, but the sudden intrusion silenced everyone.

Kayley stood in the doorway, bathed in an ethereal glow, like a fairy crossing between realms.

The entire room was captivated by her beauty.

"Who brought her?" one person asked. It was Clint Thomas, a wealthy young man with close ties to Brayden.

When no one answered, he turned to Kayley. "You might have the wrong..."

Before he could finish, Kayley swiftly shut the door and grabbed a glass of wine from the nearest table.

With a calculated slowness, she began to walk towards Brayden.

Clint sneered in understanding. She was just another woman throwing herself at Brayden.

He'd seen this act played out countless times.

Brayden was known for his icy indifference to women, and those women who tried to get close to him always ended up embarrassing themselves greatly. Despite this, his looks and background still attracted women like moths to flames.

As Kayley approached Brayden, Clint felt a slight pang of pity for her. She was about to learn a harsh lesson.

Finally reaching Brayden, Kayley raised her glass.

"Mr. Davis," she purred, her eyes sparkling with a seductive allure. "Can I join you for a drink?"
