Chapter 3
Leaving home, I headed to my best friend's house in the same neighborhood.
We hadn't seen each other in years, so naturally, we were thrilled to reunite. We spent the entire night playing video games, laughing and reminiscing. By the time the sun rose, my house was already in complete disarray.
My father rushed over as soon as he heard. "Charlie, where did you run off to? Do you know that..." He quickly stopped himself, afraid he might reveal too much.
I asked innocently, "Dad, what's wrong? Did something happen at home?"
Facing the curious gazes of others, he forced a cheerful smile and said, "Nothing, what could possibly happen at home? Look at you, going out without saying a word and had us worried sick all night."
Feeling guilty, I apologized, "Sorry, Dad. I'll be more careful next time."
When I got back home, my younger brother Cristian, who hadn't seen me all night, excitedly ran up to me. "Brother, you're amazing! I couldn't find you all night, but I did find Dad and Mabel," he said with a cheeky grin.
After talking with my father and Leyla, I quickly made an excuse about being busy with work and left the old house.
Although I had avoided the pitfalls of my past, it was best to be cautious to avoid any more unexpected problems.
Two months passed quickly, and everything was smooth sailing back home. I thought I had finally escaped the trajectory of my past life.
Unexpectedly, on the day of my promotion party, I received a call from my father. He said, "Charlie, your sister is pregnant. You need to come home immediately; we need to talk about something important."
