Chapter 5 5

Author POV

"Father, please" Ragnar begged his father, who was blaming himself for Lyra's condition.

"No it's my fault, she has been unconscious for days because of me, when will she wake up" his father said, standing up?

"Where are you going to, father? Ragnar asked.

"I want to freshen up, so I'll visit my daughter-in-law" He said leaving Ragnar alone, while he walked to the room, he heard soft murmuring from inside one of the empty room

It was not something he should worry about, but he was drawn to the murmur.

He walked to where the voices were coming from and found out that it was Elara's voice, and she was talking to somebody on the phone.

He wanted to move, but when he heard the next statement from Elara's mouth, he was frozen and his phone fell off his hands.

Elara who had just given an order to the unknown caller to kill Lyra who, was unconscious heard the sound of the falling phone shattered, scared that it might be Ragnar who heard her, she turned around and saw Ragnar's father instead.

Seeing that he was an old wolf, and he was weak, and she was still very much agile, she pushed him immediately forcefully without thinking twice, which made him hit his head and he fell unconscious immediately.

He was rushed to the hospital immediately, leaving Elara to try to cover up for the bad she had done.

"What happened to my father, Elara? Ragner asked her, he was frustrated.

"Oh Ragnar, I wish I knew, it all happened in a flash, he fell, hadn't been I was fast immediately, maybe we could have brought him to the hospital earlier, "Elara said pretentiously.

"You don't need to blame yourself Elara, you are not at fault here, you have done your best "Ragnar said hugging her.

The doctor walked out of the room, where his father was, and Ragnar disengaged from the hug immediately.

"Doctor, how is my father? He asked.

"Your father is out of danger, he is safe but still unconscious" the doctor said.

"I'll have to excuse myself," Elara said leaving Ragnar and the doctor when she finally reached the ladies' room, she lashed out in her anger, knowing that Ragnar's father was now out of danger, and she was scared that he would expose her.

Or what if he loses his memory? What probability could it be that he wouldn't remember what had happened? He heard her talking on the phone and giving orders to kill Lyra, and she pushed him.

There is no way she will allow him to live, she will have to kill him to cover her plan.

She brought out her phone, and dialed a number,

"I have a job for you," she said, before ending the call, nothing was going to stop her from achieving what she wanted, even if it meant killing to get it, she would gladly do it with no regrets.

Lyra POV

After what seemed like an eternity, I finally woke up, but I woke up to hear the sad news of the passing of my father-in-law, the only person who cared for me.

I thought it was weird dreams I was having while I was unconscious, but it all happened in reality.

I was planning on sharing the good news of my pregnancy with my father-in-law, but death has snatched him away from me.

The doctors have advised me not to cry anymore because of my pregnancy condition, but I can't stop the tears from coming out of my eyes.

Just as I was grieving, the last person I was expecting walked in, it was then I remembered clearly that this person was responsible for what happened to me.

"Elara, how dare you show your face here, after what you did to me? Aren't you scared that I would tell Ragnar of the bad things you've done to me and my unborn child? I asked her, but she scoffed and ignored me.

"Why is it too hard for you to die, Lyra? Why won't you and your bastard child not die? She asked as I balled my first angrily at her.

"You have the guts to show your face here, why don't we tell Ragnar what you did to me? I said giving her a threat, but she just laughed at me, she wasn't even scared that I just threatened her.

"Are you threatening me? You should see how scary your face was" she said laughing, and then she stopped laughing and stared at me warningly.

"Let's see who has the perfect plan between you and me" she said, giving me that same glare she gave whenever she was up to something.

The door opened abruptly, with Ragnar barging in, and tears in his eyes, his father's death must have broken him and I felt pity for him.

But the look Ragnar held was that of anger, he was furious to the core, but why?

He walked up to me and slapped me so hard, that it felt like his slap print was left on my cheek, the slap was thunderous, and I held my cheeks immediately as tears poured down my cheeks.

"Ragnar..." I called, but he slapped me again.

"Stop it, Ragnar, Lyra is still yet to recover, please don't treat her this way" Elara said, but I heard the sarcasm in her voice loud and clear.

I know whatever made Ragnar hit me, and got him angry was all Elara's doings, I haven't recovered from any of the pain that was inflicted on me in the past, and yet I am still facing new problems.

What could be the reason for Ragnar's anger, I thought.

"After everything my father has done for you, is this how you choose to pay him? Ragnar roared angrily.

I still don't understand what he was saying.

"What is the matter, I don't understand what you are saying," I said sincerely.

"You want to play dumb? He said throwing his iPad, that showed me a clip of me, that was taken two weeks ago, in the clip, I was giving orders to kill my father-in-law, but wait that is not me, I am certain that it was a manipulated video.

I stared at Elara with tears in my eyes, she smirked at me, she went far in killing Ragnar's father and pinning it on me.

I know there is nothing in the world that would make Ragnar believe anything I say because the fake video is a piece of evidence to him.
