Chapter 4 Mated to Fay Darrow

Deja's POV:

"Your soul mark, Deja." Paula answered. Solving the mystery immediately.

"My soul what?" I questioned the obvious. But I didn't wait for her to answer me before I ran to my room to look at this strange tattoo on my body in the mirror.

"Deja, calm down." Paula says softly to me, but I couldn't be calm when something as huge as this happened to me without noticing.

I stood in front of my mirror and pulled off my tank top. Being friends for many years, seeing ourselves without clothes on was normal. I could see the tattoo that now decorated the left side of my chest and went up my shoulder, turning around and tilting my neck to the side to see my back, I saw that the tattoo took the expanse of the whole left side of my back, stopping at my waist. I gasped so loud and incredulously.

"Paula..." I called, scared and confused.

"Deja love, it's okay. This is actually good news. You've met your Alpha mate. Your destined mate. Don't cry, this is happy news." She came to me and traced her fingers on the tattoo on my back.

"It's a very beautiful soul mark, my love." She rasped.

"But who is my alpha mate and was I not supposed to be aware of the soul mark when it imprinted on my skin. I thought it was usually painful and...oh my goodness!" I paused talking when it clicked in my head.

"What's that?" Paula asked.

"I remember when I got the soul mark and I'm so fawked up, Paula. Everything is ruined. Oh damn." I said to her and fell on my knees, a tear trailed down my cheek. Why is this happening to me?

"Talk to me, Deja. What's going on?" She asked, concerned and kneeling before me. She grabbed my hands and gave it a small squeeze while simultaneously pumping out her calming vanilla cream scent.

"It's Fay. Fay Darrow is my alpha mate, Paula. What am I going to do?" And the dam of my tears broke, making the tears build up in my eyes so fast, blurring my vision and immediately flowing down my cheeks.

Paula stayed quiet through my moment of breakdown, allowing me to cry it all out as she pulled me into her arms and rocked me back and forth.

"What's going on here?" We heard Lily's voice and we pulled apart slowly to look at her, standing in my doorway.

"Deja, is that a tattoo? Is that record label involved in a secret cult and forced you to be marked?" She asked as she walked into the room. "But this tattoo looks healed and clean? What's going on? I'm confused." She stated and I only buried my face in Paula's neck. Inhaling her scent as my nose was close to her scent gland.

"Lily, where do we start?" Paula sighed.

"Anywhere please. Why is my Deja sad?" She sat on the floor and began rubbing her back but I guess her eyes must have caught the mark on my back as she let out a huge gasp.

"It's extended to your back as well? Don't tell me you met your mate today?" She questioned.

"Lily, she did." Paula answered.

"But that's wonderful news, why is she sad and crying?" Lily queried.

Paula sighed again. "In summary. She met Fay Darrow today and he was a different man from the one we knew. He was so rude and disrespectful to her and that made her sad. But as we were preparing to eat, she pulled off her jacket and that's when we saw the soul mark. The shocking thing is that Fay Darrow is her mate. Deja is mates to Fay. He's her alpha. So she's emotional and with how he reacted today, it must be hurting her more." Paula explained to Lily.

"Wow. This is truly shocking." Lily brings her hand to pat my short brown hair. "Everything will be fine, Deja. Don't cry anymore, it's breaking my heart." Lily rasped close to my ears making me pull my face away from Paula's neck to look at my other sweet friend.

"We'll find a way, Deja. There's always a way." She says as she caresses my cheek, gazing at me lovingly.

"Thank you, my loves." I said to them but my voice sounded a bit croaky.

"We're always going to be here for you, don't forget that. Your problem is our problem." Lily said and smiled at me, making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world even when new problems I didn't see coming had arrived at my doorstep.

"You know what we should do?" Paula grinned at us. "What should we do, mum?" Lily asked teasingly.

"Both my beautiful daughters will go take a good and fast shower while I serve our dinner so we can all eat, cuddle up after eating and talk about the next step our darling Deja will take." Paula replied and we moved to do that.

Lily and I decided to talk our showers together so we can be fast. And while the water cascaded down my body, I couldn't help but look at my soul mark. It was a string of flowers that tiny music symbols danced around, and it looked so beautiful.

I had never sat down to think or imagine what my soul mark would look like because I wasn't hoping neither was I ready to meet my mate. I just felt like there are things I wanted to achieve before meeting my mate, but apparently, fate has it different for me.

We finished washing the dried sweats and tears off our body. And changed into clean and comfy clothes. We joined Paula in the small dining area we had and ate our dinner with appreciative words and moans directed at Paula for cooking a very delicious food.

Once we cleared the plates and washed them, we moved to the living room and cuddled up on the biggest sofa with our biggest blanket, shielding our body from the chill air of the night.

"I've been thinking about something as we were eating," I say out loud, "today was not the first time I saw Fay. I've seen him at his concerts so why didn't I get the soul mark then?" I asked my friends.

"I've thought about it too and I think it's because your omega bloomed late. That must have been the reason. Plus at the concerts, you didn't get to see him up close the way you did today." Paula answered. She was sat in the middle of Lily and I, with the both of us resting our heads on her shoulder.

"oh." I nodded slowly as I thought she was right. Some things about me are different, especially when it's partaining to my omega.

"I'm curious though, how did you get to meet him?" Lily asked.

"I was exploring and decided to check out the longe room but when I entered the room and laid my eyes on him, I felt this sharp and fast pain searing from my chest to my back, but I had thought it was just my heart being shocked from seeing Fay Darrow so close. I didn't know it was my soul mark imprinting on me. And now that I just remembered, part of why they employed me was because I was didn't have a mate yet. So what will I do now? Nobody will believe me if I tell them Fay Darrow is my Alpha mate." I asked with my heart squeezing just at the thought that things are not going to be easy for me in the coming future.

Because I am mated to a celebrity Alpha.

Ugh!

"And nobody must see my soul mark." I puffed out a huge air, feeling myself deflating at the mountain of problems that had suddenly come to block my path.

"Hey, baby. You need to calm down. We shouldn't be dwelling on the problems, we should be discussing solutions, yeah?" Paula said to me and rubbed my shoulders into calmness.

"Do you want us to scent you? Does our darling Deja need our scent?" Lily asked in a very sweet way that got me nodding my head so fast.

They both grabbed each of our arms and rubbed the inside of our wrists together. That's the platonic way of scenting between friends and families. But the intimate scenting requires licking of the scent gland located in the nape of the neck.

And in a blink of an eye, my omega felt safe and tranquilized like it was exactly what my whole system needed to be covered with Lily's freshly crushed apple scent and Paula's vanilla cream scent.

Before I could grasp what was going on with me, I was pulled into oblivion.

The next morning came so fast but I slept so well like a baby. Waking up, panic washed through me, making me run to the living room to find Lily and Paula making breakfast.

"Why didn't you guys wake me up?" I complained. But they answered me by explaining that my omega was stressed and I needed to just sleep the stress away. They assured me that we could have a proper discussion when I'm back from work today.

"But what am I going to do at work, would my omega not want to be close to our Alpha? I'm scared that everything could mess up before it even starts?" I whined with frustration.

"Just chill, Deja. Do your best to stay composed and don't say anything to anyone. In fact, don't interact with anyone if possible except the manager. The moment you're done at work, just come home straight. And avoid Fay for now. We don't know what will happen if you go near him again. Okay?" Deja said firmly, holding both my shoulders with a reassuring squeeze that I'm not alone.

My eyes glanced at Lily who also had a soft expression on as she looked at me.

"I'll do just that." I answered firmly.

Arriving at work about an hour later, I headed straight to the floor my new office space is located on. I greeted my colleagues in a swift manner, not wanting to engage in any conversation or leave room for anyone to pull me into one of those morning office talks.

Settling in my chair, I logged in to my computer and found my task of the day on our shared Google drive account. Not wanting my mind to be distracted by different thoughts about my current dilemma, I knew focusing on work would be the best.

I let the words of Paula and Lily continue ringing in my head like a mantra to keep me grounded.

Time flew by so fast and by the time it was lunch break, I was almost done with my assigned work of the day. I stood up and stretched a bit because I've been sitting for hours. As I was about to head to the cafeteria, Martha appeared before me.

"Deja, I'm sorry but Fay needs you in the studio right now." And it was in that moment I knew life is a beach.
