Chapter 6 Trying to Escape

"But that's not fair! I told you everything I could!" snapped Selena.

"All I saw was the result, not the effort. Take her back to her room!"

Damian seemed to be heading straight for the location Selena had told him about. And Selena was approached by a man who immediately carried her body, because Selena's foot were not in good condition. Selena looked at Damian with a worried look, it seemed that she was starting to get nervous about her existence in Damian's mansion.

Selena was locked up in a room that was quite comfortable. However, the thought of what Damian would do next still made her uncomfortable. She noticed her foot, which were in a bit of a bad condition. It was very sore when exposed to water.

"I have to get out of here. That crazy man can continue to torment me." Selena grew restless and looked out the window, where the spacious mansion also looked unguarded.

Selena walked out of her room cautiously. Prayer realized the place was quite deserted. And to her slight confusion, the door to her room was completely unlocked. She then walked down the hallway of the mansion.

Because she felt that no one was watching the place, Selena then ran in any direction. She tried to find a way out in the spacious mansion. Several times she also had to hide because she almost ran into men who seemed to be Damian's men.

Damian was at the place Selena was referring to and checked the place with his subordinates. He chuckled softly as he found nothing in the place.

"Sir, it looks like they've left too. Selena doesn't seem to know where Axel went after they broke up either. Their relationship just ended after the breakup."

"Ah, so it was a waste to come here? Does that girl really not know anything about her boyfriend? At least she knows something more suspicious." Damian gave a disappointed snort.

"According to Selena's friends at work, Selena and Axel's relationship isn't very good. It seems like a mistake to keep Selena to lure Axel out of his hiding place."

Damian closed his eyes, showing he was desperate enough to ask for back the item Axel had stolen.

"What about where Selena lives? We should check something out."

Before heading home, Damian strayed first to Selena's residence. There, he wanted to find some clues about Axel's whereabouts that were completely untraceable. Damian and his men climbed some stairs to Selena's rented house.

Arriving at the house, it was locked.

"Open it!" said Damian.

His men immediately forced the door open by kicking it. And the sound of the commotion managed to make someone appear and approach them in panic and anxiety.

"Oh my, oh my! What are you doing? You can break the door!" said the stocky old woman.

"None of your business," Damian retorted sarcastically.

"Of course it's my business! This place belongs to me and it's one of the houses I rent out. Have you come to look for Selena? Selena hasn't been home in days. Who are you, Selena owes you money too?" The woman continued to rant.

Damian sighed. Obviously Selena wasn't home, she was with him right now.

"I think she ran away because she couldn't pay the rent this year. The previous months, it was her boyfriend who paid the rent. I heard they broke up."

"How much is the rent? I'll pay it, but let me go in first. I want to check something." Damian decided to let his money do the talking.

"Oh my! Who exactly are you guys? Did Selena commit a crime that you have to check her previous residence too?" the woman asked in surprise.

"Yeah, more or less." Damian wanted this to end quickly.

"Then you can come in. Check it out, take all the belongings if necessary for evidence." The old woman immediately opened the locked door.

Damian paid Selena the rent and entered the house to inspect it. A simple house that looked a bit messy.

Together with his men, they ransacked the house. Damian stares at the printed photos between Selena and Axel. Selena looked cheerful in the pictures. And it looked like Axel had taken her around a lot of places. And there was even a photo where Axel seemed to be getting serious with Selena, because Axel gave Selena a ring. That means there's a possibility that they were almost married before.

That's a clue if Axel loves Selena. What's more from every photo, both of them are equally cheerful. He don't know how there can be news about them having a bad relationship.

"It seems that Axel knows we've started finding traces of him recently. And my guess is not wrong if Axel loves Selena. That means, Selena is Axel's weakness. What we need, perhaps, is to threaten Axel with a little more wildness."

Damian grabbed everything he needed and took it home. He soon returned to the mansion.

Meanwhile, Selena, who was still trying to find a way out, was hiding under the table. She waited for some people to pass by and came out of her hiding place once it was safe. However, she ran into someone there instead.

"Miss Selena?" he called out, surprise evident in his tone.

"Oh, shit!" squealed Selena, she looked at the man with a little tension until she realized who was in front of her, it was the man who applied ointment to her just now.

"What are you doing here? You should have stayed in your room," he said sternly.

"I'm going back, I'm going back to my room." Selena didn't want him to report her to Damian and she might get in trouble if he found out she was trying to escape.

"If you're looking for a way out, it's not here. The exit is in the left wing. You stay away from the main door," she explained.

"Yeah?" Selena squealed, had she just been told the way out by Damian's subordinates?

"I'll pretend I didn't see you, and please pretend I never spoke to you." The man then simply walked away and ignored Selena.

Selena stared at the man's back in confusion. However, because she felt that she didn't have much time, Selena finally turned around and looked for her own way out according to the man's words.

And once close to the exit, Selena turned her head right and left. No one was guarding. She began to think that Damian's men in the mansion were not that many. She smiled widely as she approached the large, wide-open main door.

However, because she heard the sound of people coming from another hallway towards her, Selena turned her head and was about to hide first. She looked for a hiding place again.

"Selena?"

The sound made Selena turn her head towards the door. Where Damian and his men were already at the door.

"Are you trying to escape?"
