Chapter 5 with his brother

table in her room, placing the notebook on it and turning it on, to check the company's things. Even though it was supposedly his vacation, he couldn't leave the company, because that was the only way he felt comfortable. It was strange the way he felt like a visitor in his own home, where he lived for so many years and had so many good memories, especially with his brother, who he considered his best friend. But, Andrew stabbed him in the back and he would never forgive him.

He spent about an hour and a half checking emails, talking to his partners, rereading contracts and all things related to the company. He was so focused that he didn't notice when Melanie woke up, sitting up in bed and watching the man intent on his notebook who had his back to her. Melanie didn't understand how Christopher could be so connected to the company even though he was on vacation and wondered how long he had been there, instead of enjoying his family, who he hadn't seen in so long. She stretched and got up from the bed, only then did Christopher notice that she was awake. He turned to her and smiled. - Good morning, Melanie. - Good morning, Christopher - She smiled - Have you been awake for a long time? - A little. He was checking some company things. - I understood. Excuse me, I'm going to the bathroom - She quickly ran to the bathroom. She didn't want to have to talk about the company with him, not when she was supposedly on vacation. She loved what she did, but she wasn't in the mood to learn about the company's business. She cleaned up and left the bathroom, picked up her suitcase and placed it on the bed, looking for something to wear. Christopher continued with his eyes glued to his notebook and Melanie shook her head, unhappy with how he couldn't disconnect from the company. She looked to the other side and saw the plate with toast and a glass with juice. She looked back at Christopher. - You didn't eat your breakfast. - She said and he turned to face her. - It was for you. I didn't know if you would wake up ready to have coffee downstairs. Melanie felt herself blush and smiled. For her, there was no need for him to worry like that. - Thank you, but you didn't need to worry. - Everything is fine. - He said, turning his attention to the notebook - If you're going to take a shower, there are towels in the bathroom cabinet. - Thanks. She grabbed a pair of denim shorts, panties and a black tank top, then went to the bathroom to take a shower. As she let the water run down her body, she couldn't help but think about the whole situation, the way Christopher looked at Andrew and how the other also seemed very hurt, but she avoided letting it show that she was teasing him. She found everything very childish, which was ironic. The owner of one of the largest companies in the world, so professional and intelligent, did not know how to deal with her personal problems. Something from the past still haunted him in a way she couldn't understand. And she only became more certain that he was still in love with Evelyn. However, I even understood, I thought she was so beautiful and full of class, that it was depressing to compete, even if fake, with her and self-esteem was never one of Melanie's strong points. She turned off the shower and got out, took the towel and dried herself. She put on her clothes and hung the towel on a rack she had there. Afterwards, she came out of the bathroom and Christopher was putting his notebook in his bag. - Shall we go down for coffee? - He asked. - Let's go. They went down to the kitchen finding Ashley and Alexandra sitting at the table. - Good morning! - Melanie said smiling. - Good morning! - The two responded in unison. They were happy to know that Christopher had moved on with his life and was happily married. - Good morning Mother. Good morning, Ash. - Christopher said and they both said good morning in unison to him too. Ashley and Alexandra sat side by side on one side of the table, Christopher and Melanie sat on the other. - I can't believe my wedding is tomorrow. I'm so excited that it doesn't seem like I can fit so much emotion in my chest! - Ashley said excitedly and Melanie smiled - Did you feel that way too, Melanie? - Yes, Ash. Our wedding was something very simple and just between us, so I believe that your emotion and anxiety is much greater, but it is still just as exciting. - She smiled without having the slightest idea of what she was actually talking about. - How did your story begin? - Alexandra asked and Christopher swallowed hard, looking at Melanie. - As you already know, I work for Chris and have been for 3 years. A few months after I started working there, he started showing interest in me, but I didn't want to get involved with anyone. Especially with my boss. -But I insisted so much that she couldn't resist - Christopher said and Melanie laughed. - Also, he wouldn't leave my side. I fell in love, but I didn't want to admit it. After eight months of working there, we finally left and we haven't been apart since. I have to say I was scared when he asked me to marry him. - She almost said no because she thought it was too early. - Almost. But I didn't want to lose him, I'm in love with him. Even though he's very serious most of the time, Christopher makes me feel so good, in a way I've never felt before, and that has nothing to do with material things - Ashley and Alexandra looked at everything carefully and smiled like fools - It's the way he smiles, the way he frowns when he's very focused on something, when he's worried about something, but when he sees me he opens a wide smile. The way he feels jealous and tries not to show it. I love everything about him. - Melanie blushed when she realized that she had exaggerated a little, but if they wanted her to show love, there it was. - I smile like that because you are what calms me and makes me feel like the happiest and luckiest man in the world. I love you - He smiled and placed a long kiss on your lips, causing you surprise and a racing heart almost coming out of your mouth. His lips were so soft, she thought. She couldn't help but blush when she heard the two women in front of her let out an "own, how beautiful." Her boss had just kissed her and even though it was nothing, it would be difficult to live with. He was her boss, that was completely crazy, but she had accepted it and that was what was keeping her in her home. Otherwise, she would be on the street and not knowing what to do. - You have no idea how happy I am for you - Ashley said smiling and Alexandra agreed. Christopher hugged her and kissed the top of her head. She thought how good he was at pretending to be in love with her, she never imagined he would be so affectionate on this trip. She never imagined that he would be affectionate with someone, even if he truly loved them. The four of them had breakfast talking about random topics and Melanie liked them both more and more. They were two incredible people that she would definitely always remember and she was very happy to have met them, even though after they returned
