'Correction, you had the hope of a second chance; not me, and I don't need a mate,' I shrugged. Reign shut me out after that and let me complete my shower routine. She'd come around then. I knew she was right, that I won't be able to handle another rejection, but I'm pretty sure I'll be fine. I might die but I really can't spend my whole life with a jerk like him.

I wrap a towel around my body once I step out of the shower and walk over to the closet, putting on a pair of black shorts and a white tank top. I decided to sleep and let tomorrow bring what it must as I laid down on the white sheets.

A knock made me sit up as Caterina walked in. "Hey," I smiled at her.

"I was wondering If you needed anything to eat or drink," She fidgeted with her sleeve.

"Jacob sent you?" I asked.

"He's very worried about you," She replied.

"Well, I don't need anything but could you just explain to me one more time where the office is?" I smiled sheepishly.

"On the second floor, you should go down the hall then there are two turns, so take the left one and go down that hall, the black door to your right is his office," She explained while moving her hands trying to explain me.

"Okay, thank you," I smile. She turned around to walk away but I quickly stopped her.

"Wait! Is the alpha in his office, right now? Or is he still at the gathering?" I asked.

"I'm pretty sure he's still at the gathering," She replied.

"Okay," I smiled at her and she walked out of the room. I quickly put on my black robes and walk out of my room. Muttering Caterina's instructions like a mantra, I made it to his office and barged in.

"Looking for someone?" I turned around to see who it was and I let out a breath of relief.

"Kole! What are you doing here?!" I snap.

"I could ask you the same thing," He retorted.

"I came to check if Jacob was here," I replied impassively.

"I was sent here to make sure that you don't come here to do something stupid," He grinned.

I groaned and sat on the chair opposite to him, my eyes rolling on their own accord.

"You know I heard what you said to Jacob," He said and I looked at him with a questioning look.

"I was not eavesdropping," He said defensively. I narrowed my eyes at him and he just smiled innocently at me.

"Maybe a little," He brought up his thumb and index finger to show me how much he meant by little. He was practically pressing both fingers together and I raised my brow at him.

After a while of silence Kole spoke and I looked up at him.

"After Malia died, it was as though Jacob died with her too. But the day you showed up it was as though we got our alpha back and if you give up on him, he might fall over the edge, just don't reject him. I'm not saying make it easy for him, he's being an ass I know but he will come around," He looked at me. It looked like he might cry. Now I feel guilty.

"What do you mean fall over the edge?" I ask.

"He's been through a lot in his past that you don't know of, and it's not my story to tell," He replied. We sit there for a while in silence until it got too awkward.

"I'm just going to head back to my room," I smile softly before walking out of the office.

That was something.

'Another reason for us to stay,' Reign spoke.

'Now you wanna talk?' I raise my brow.

'Yeah, well!' She snapped.

I wonder what Kole was talking about but I'm going to find out.

I hoped that it wouldn't be that hard.

It was just another ordinary day, I was finally 18! I was excited to finally find who my mate was. I got dressed as I decided to go and have breakfast with the rest of the pack today. I lived in the pack house since my father passed away a long time ago and my mother was barely in the country. The alpha insisted it was the best option for me.

I headed downstairs but a delicious scent hit my nose. It was a mix of chocolate and forest. I felt intoxicated and headed into that direction without realising.

I bumped into a mascular chest, my arms tingles and sparks ignited my skin. I look up to see the Alpha's son staring at me in confusion. I felt the breath leave my body as I saw him in a new light. He was so perfect.

"Irene?" He asked in confusion. "No this can't be right."

"What do you mean?" I questioned as I felt a sharp ache jolt through my chest.

"I, Jimmy Hugh Wilson, reject you, Irene Montgomery as my mate and the future Luna of this pack," He said in a cold voice, breaking my heart into a million pieces.

I jolted up right, my hands clutching my chest while my breath came out rugged. It had been a whole year since that incident but it pained me nevertheless. That wasn't even the worst part. He mated with a shewolf half an hour after rejecting me and the pain was unbearable. That was one of the reasons I went to live in the city, and college was just my excuse but here I am again, one year later, stuck with another mate. A mate who'd rather be with someone else then me. Why does this happen to me? I knew I couldn't fall asleep again, even if I tried, so I decided to go for a run. I think my wolf deserves it. She's been itching to get out for two weeks now.

I sighed and slowly got up from my bed. I put on my robe and slowly walk downstairs. Jacob's scent seemed stronger than ever so I reckoned the room opposite mine was his. The calming effect of his spice and musk scent worked its influence on me as the remnants of my nightmare washed off. The nightmares had been constant but the pain never weared off.

I walk out of the back door and breathe in the fresh air. I take off my robe near a large tree and tie it around it. Taking off all my other clothes, I drop them on the ground and quickly shift into my wolf form. The wet grass felt tickled my paws making my wolf purr. I slowly retreated to the back of my mind and let Reign take over completely. I watched her from the back of my mind as she played around in the mud. We reached a stream and she slowly stepped into it to clean her all white fur. It annoyed me sometimes, I had always wanted gold fur.
