Chapter 4 I Don't Want to Be Your Mistress

Alexander looked better than ever.

After two months of relentless headaches, four days of Olivia's medicine had completely cured him.

"I believe you now," Alexander said, leaning casually against the wall. "You really are the Smith Wolfpack's Perfect Doctor."

Olivia wanted to seize the moment - to blurt out, "Aria isn't just not the Perfect Doctor, she can't even handle basic medicine."

But she held back. She had no idea what Alexander truly felt for Aria. If she miscalculated, it could backfire.

Instead, she played it safe. "I'm not a spy."

"You're not. We already confirmed that," Alexander said with a smirk.

"Then... can I go home now?" Olivia asked, trying to mask the urgency in her voice.

Alexander's sharp blue eyes narrowed slightly.

In such a hurry to leave?

"Sure. And you need to talk to your husband first... see if he's okay with sending you back to me," Alexander said, like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Olivia clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms.

"...And if he says no?"

"Then I'll destroy him," Alexander said with a smile. "You'll be begging me to sleep with you by then."

Her knees almost gave out.

"I cured you... You can't just toss me aside like this," Olivia said, trying to keep her voice steady.

Alexander found her panic amusing.

He stepped forward, wrapping an arm around her waist.

She squirmed, turning her face away.

His warm breath, tinged with tobacco, brushed against her skin - hot enough to leave her with nowhere to hide.

Alexander leaned in, his lips grazing her earlobe.

Olivia's entire body trembled. Her earlobes were sensitive - unbearably so.

She struggled harder, but Alexander's grip tightened, tilting her face toward his.

He kissed her again.

That faint Echinacea scent that lingered on her lips had him hooked.

Ever since he met her, his wolf, Isaac, had been going insane - howling inside his head, demanding he claim her.

Alexander hadn't believed in fated mates since childhood. Not after his father brought his mistress back.

He didn't want to think too hard about whether Olivia was his fated mate.

But she cured his headaches. And that scent... it soothed his wolf.

It intrigued him.

It felt like stumbling across a rare, priceless gem on the side of the road - something he couldn't resist holding onto.

Alexander's kisses trailed from her lips, down her jaw, to the delicate curve of her neck.

Her skin was too soft. For a brief second, he wanted nothing more than to devour her.

His teeth grazed her neck, pressing down just enough to leave a faint mark.

When he pulled away, Olivia's cheeks were flushed - from anger or something else, he couldn't tell.

Her skin glowed under the faint blush, making her even more irresistible.

Those wide, watery eyes and her naturally upturned lips made her look like she was always flirting, even when she was glaring at him.

A natural-born seductress.

Alexander wasn't exactly poetic, but the phrase "dangerously beautiful" seemed to fit her perfectly.

Her husband probably wanted to die on top of her every night.

The thought made something unpleasant twist in Alexander's chest.

Him? Touching her?

Alexander's mood darkened at the image of Olivia, bare and soft beneath someone else.

"Olivia," he said roughly, his breath heavier, "Be my mistress for three months. It won't cost you anything. After that, I'll make sure your husband thrives."

Olivia trembled harder in his arms.

She wanted Aiden ruined, not promoted.

She lifted her chin, staring directly into Alexander's eyes.

"I don't want to be your mistress, Alexander. If it comes down to that... just kill me."

The moment she said it, she felt lighter.

A person needs dignity to live. She could make her way through life with her skills. Why reduce herself to something less?

"Kill me," Olivia repeated, her voice firm. "It's nothing to you - killing's second nature. But as long as I'm alive, I won't be your mistress."

Alexander's eyes darkened.

He laughed coldly and shoved her away.

"Ungrateful."

Alexander's icy gaze lingered on her.

"Don't overestimate yourself."

"Yes, I'm lowly," Olivia replied calmly. "But even someone lowly won't choose to become a whore. I'd rather die with dignity."

Alexander's mood soured instantly.

He could have any woman he wanted.

A simple show of interest and they'd throw themselves at him without hesitation.

"Go home," Alexander said coldly, turning on his heel.

He left first, slamming the door behind him.

In his head, his wolf, Isaac, snarled in frustration.

You idiot. You let her go!

Alexander's right-hand man, Owen Cooper, escorted Olivia back to Smith Wolfpack house.

On the way, Owen glanced at her.

"Madam Olivia, where are you from originally?"

"Miracleburg," Olivia replied.

"Have you ever lived in Goldvale City?"

Olivia stiffened for a moment.

Goldvale City.

That's where Aria and Alexander's paths had crossed.

But why would he ask her if she'd been there?

Her grandfather had been buried in Goldvale City. Olivia had always wanted to visit his grave.

But a few months ago, she'd fallen seriously ill. The memories of that time were hazy, and the trip had been postponed.

"No," Olivia answered truthfully.

Owen's disappointment was clear.

She's probably not the 'Cloud' the future Alpha is looking for.

When Olivia arrived home, her grandmother, Amelia, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"You reckless child!" Amelia scolded, though her grip on Olivia's hand was tight and warm.

"Grandmother, I... I ran into some trouble," Olivia said softly.

"Trouble or not, you're home now," Amelia replied, her eyes full of worry. "Brown Wolfpack came looking for you. I told them you were reading with me after being upset."

Olivia's heart swelled with gratitude.

She had been gone for four whole days.

"They haven't come back since?" Olivia asked.

"No," Amelia said, her expression thoughtful.

"Strange, isn't it? Brown Wolfpack doesn't seem as wonderful as Skylar claimed."

Olivia's jaw clenched.

She wanted nothing more than to tell Amelia the truth - how her stepmother, Skylar, had tricked her.

How she had ruined Olivia's reputation, forcing her to marry the son of a mistress.

But she couldn't.

Amelia's health was fragile. The truth would break her.

This was Olivia's battle to fight.

And until she tore Brown Wolfpack apart, piece by piece, she wasn't leaving.

"I'll be fine, Grandmother," Olivia said gently. "You can trust me on that."
