Chapter 5 The mansion

Ava and Max returned to their mansion, exhausted from the court case. As they entered their room, Ava turned to Max and said, "I can't believe we're stuck in this arranged marriage. I don't even know you."

Max sighed, "I know, me neither. But we have to make this work. Our packs are depending on us."

Ava crossed her arms, "And what about our agency? We can't just abandon our cases."

Max smiled, "Don't worry, we'll continue our work. But now, we'll have to do it together, as a team... and as husband and wife."

Ava rolled her eyes, "Great, just what I wanted. A partner who's also my husband."

But as they stood there, something strange happened. Ava felt a sudden jolt of electricity run through her body, and she saw Max's eyes flash with a yellow light.

"What's happening?" she asked, her heart racing.

Max's eyes returned to normal, and he smiled, "I think our bodies are just adjusting to our new... arrangement."

Ava raised an eyebrow, "Adjusting? What do you mean?"

But before Max could answer, there was a knock at the door. It was their butler, Jenkins.

"Excuse me, sir and madam, but there's a new case waiting for you. A ghost has been spotted in the nearby town, and the locals are terrified."

Ava and Max exchanged a look, and without a word, they knew what they had to do

Ava and Max arrived in the town, surrounded by rolling hills and dense forests. They could feel the eerie atmosphere, and the locals' fear was palpable.

As they investigated, they discovered that the ghost was a young woman, dressed in a long white gown, with a sorrowful expression. She was seen wandering the streets, vanishing into thin air.

Ava and Max decided to split up, cover more ground, and gather more information. Ava spoke to the locals, trying to uncover the ghost's identity and motive, while Max used his werewolf senses to track the ghost's scent.

As the sun began to set, Ava and Max met back at their car, sharing their findings. Ava had discovered that the ghost was Emily, a young woman who had died in the town a century ago, under mysterious circumstances. Max had tracked Emily's scent to an old mansion on the outskirts of town.

As they approached the mansion, they felt a strange energy building up. Suddenly, Emily appeared before them, her eyes fixed on Max.

"You," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "You're the one."

Max's eyes locked onto Emily's, and Ava felt a jolt of surprise. What was happening

As Emily's ghostly form drew closer, Max's eyes flashed yellow, and he growled softly. Ava's heart raced, sensing the tension between them.

"You're the one who's been following me," Emily accused, her voice filled with a mix of fear and longing.

Max's eyes returned to normal, and he took a step back, his expression softening. "I didn't mean to scare you, Emily. I've been trying to understand what's happening to me."

Ava intervened, sensing the emotional intensity between them. "What's going on, Emily? Why are you haunting this town?"

Emily's gaze shifted to Ava, and her expression turned sorrowful. "I'm trapped between worlds. I can't move on. And Max... he's the only one who can see me."

Max's eyes locked onto Emily's, and Ava felt a pang of surprise. There was a deep connection between them, one that went beyond a simple ghost and werewolf encounter.

Ava's mind raced with questions, but before she could ask, Emily vanished into thin air. Max's eyes remained fixed on the spot where she disappeared, his expression a mix of confusion and longing.

"What just happened?" Ava asked, turning to Max.

Max shook his head, "I don't know. But I feel a connection to her, Ava. A really deep one."

Ava's eyes narrowed, "What kind of connection?"

Max hesitated, "I'm not sure. But I think it's connected to our arranged marriage, our packs, and this ghostly encounter."

Ava's eyes widened, "You mean our marriage is tied to Emily's haunting?"

Max nodded, "I think so. And I think our union is the key to setting her free."

As they stood there, the moon rose high in the sky, casting an eerie red glow over the town. Ava felt a shiver run down her spine, sensing the supernatural forces at play

Ava's mind raced with the implications. Their marriage, a mere arrangement to strengthen their packs, was now entwined with a ghostly mystery. She turned to Max, determination in her voice. "We need to uncover the truth behind Emily's death and her connection to us."

Max nodded, his eyes gleaming with resolve. Together, they began to investigate, scouring the town's archives and speaking to the locals. The more they dug, the more they realized that Emily's story was intertwined with their own families' histories.

As they delved deeper, the supernatural occurrences intensified. Doors creaked open, and ghostly apparitions flitted around them. Ava's heart raced, but Max remained steadfast, his werewolf senses on very high alert.

One night, as they explored the old mansion, they stumbled upon a hidden room. Inside, they found a dusty diary belonging to Emily. As they read her words, the truth unfolded: a tragic love story, a family feud, and a curse that had haunted both their families for generations.

With the truth finally revealed, Ava and Max knew what they had to do. They gathered their strength, ready to face the forces that had bound Emily's spirit for so long. Would they be able to break the curse and free Emily, or would they become its latest victims? Only time would tell.

With the diary's secrets revealed, Ava and Max stood united, ready to face the curse. They lit candles, spoke ancient words, and embraced their destinies. Emily's ghostly form appeared, her eyes locked onto theirs. The curse shattered, and Emily vanished, finally at peace. Ava and Max shared a triumphant glance, their bond stronger than ever.
