Chapter 2 She Was Once The Little Princess Of The Gibson Family

Lawrence was getting married?

Brynn's mind spun with confusion at this revelation.

Would his marriage mean he'd finally leave her alone? That thought should have been comforting.

Yet, this also meant he wouldn't be there to support her financially anymore. Forget about her tuition-just her mother's hospital bills were sky-high, and she knew she couldn't manage them on her own! She grudgingly accepted the grim reality she might face-becoming another man's sex partner...

Lawrence's expression suddenly turned fierce, pulling her from her thoughts. As she stared at his striking yet menacing face, she noticed the redness rimming his eyes and his lips pressed tight. His look remained icy, even when he was having sex with her.

After a moment, Brynn managed a forced smile and said stiffly, "That's great... Congratulations."

He stared at her face, as beautiful and perfectly composed as an impenetrable mask, showing no cracks.

His gaze grew colder as he gritted his teeth and scoffed. "Good, very good."

He didn't ease up, making Brynn's breathing uneven.

Lawrence was clearly punishing and demeaning her, but the more she resisted, the more he delighted in breaking her down.

"Congratulations? Ha..."

His gaze never left her.

"It hurts!"

He glanced up, admiring a circle of bloody bite marks on her lovely collarbone as though it were a masterpiece.

Seeing the gleam in his eyes, Brynn shot him a look of pure hatred. "You... pervert!"

He grabbed her chin, pulling his face close to hers, his breath hot on her skin. "Do you think this will make me release you?"

She pressed her lips together, silent, her eyes defiant.

He smirked and intensified his movements.

He continued his torment until the early hours. By the time he stopped, Brynn, feverish and exhausted, felt as though she had been dragged from a blazing furnace.

Lawrence stepped back, squinting at her. Silently, he turned and made his way to the bathroom.

As the sound of water filled the room, Brynn knew it was her cue to leave.

He never liked her staying the night, so no matter the hour, she would hurriedly dress and depart while he was in the shower.

But today, she felt too uncomfortable. Her legs felt like they were treading on clouds as she stood. By the time Lawrence emerged in a towel, she had only just managed to slip into her coat.

He looked at her with a frown.

Embarrassed, Brynn kept her back to him and tried to stand upright.

Lawrence remained silent, poured himself a glass of water, and sipped it slowly.

Then, he noticed her bandaged left hand, with blood staining the gauze.

Setting the glass down, he walked over, seized her wrist and asked in a cold, authoritative tone, "What happened?"

Brynn attempted to free her hand. "I was injured at work."

Lawrence was about to respond when his phone interrupted him.

He checked it, turned away, and took the call.

"Why are you calling this late... Yes, I was just heading to bed..." His tone was soft, almost tender. It appeared he would unconditionally dote on the person on the other end.

Brynn didn't care who that person was. She used the moment to head for the door, but just as she reached it, Lawrence ended the call and turned around to look at her.

He noticed her hurried attempt to leave, his eyebrow lifting slightly.

Brynn had just slipped on her shoes when she heard him call out casually from behind, "Stay tonight."

"Why? You..."

As he casually dropped his towel, Brynn turned around, her cheeks flushing as she gripped her bag's strap tightly.

A scoff came from behind. "Why pretend to be coy? It's not like you haven't seen it before."

She had not only seen but...

Shame enveloped Brynn, deepening the redness on her face.

He quickly got dressed and approached her, peering at her downcast face. "Miss Gibson, you are quite adept at serving. I've got the right job for you."

"What?"

Brynn raised her head in confusion, not fully grasping his meaning.

In a top-floor VIP ward of the hospital.

Although Brynn was a frequent visitor at this hospital, she didn't know there were such luxurious rooms on the top floor.

"Sorry for calling you so late. I was feeling a bit frightened..." The woman's voice was tender and slightly flirtatious, reserved for someone she was fond of.

Brynn stood silently in the corner, her long hair shielding her face and obscuring her expression.

"Since you don't like to sleep alone, I've brought someone to keep you company," Lawrence said, his eyes twinkling with a warm smile.

"Who is this young lady?" Carla Scott's inquisitive eyes scrutinized Brynn. She noted the girl's youthful appearance, reminiscent of a ripe, enticing peach. Since her arrival, she had been quiet, resembling a delicate porcelain doll, fragile and easily damaged.

Carla's expression was a mix of caution and curiosity, but she smiled and inquired, "Why did you bring a friend over so late?"

"She's a new intern assistant at my company," Lawrence answered nonchalantly, turning to Brynn. "Come and say hello."

Brynn paused briefly, then gathered her courage and approached.

"Miss Scott."

She slowly raised her head.

Carla initially didn't give much thought but was surprised when she recognized her. "Brynn? Is that you, Brynn Gibson?"

"It's me," Brynn responded, her voice steady as her right hand slowly tightened into a fist.

Lawrence's eyebrow quirked up, his smile widening. "You two know each other?"

"Absolutely! Lawrence, you might not be aware, but Brynn used to be quite the celebrity. She was the little princess of the Gibson family, always seen as the perfect daughter by all parents! Oh, because of her, I ended up being scolded so many times. My mother even wished she could swap daughters with the Gibson family!"

Carla chuckled as she reminisced, though her gaze remained intently on Brynn.

Brynn, now the daughter of a financial fraudster, had seen her once-charmed life crumble!

Lawrence looked down, his smile subtle but evident.

He was well aware of that, indeed he was.

Carla's tone softened as she turned back to Brynn. "Brynn, where are you staying these days? I heard they auctioned off your family's villa. I've been really concerned about you..."

Brynn remained quiet, biting her tongue to use the pain to distract herself from the memory.

Carla, noticing Brynn's silence, seemed to recognize her mistake. "Oh, I'm sorry, I got a bit carried away seeing an old friend."

She then gave Lawrence a concerned look. "Lawrence, did I say something inappropriate?"

Lawrence gave her a tender look, brushing her hair back gently. "No, you were just speaking the truth."

Carla's smile brightened at his gentle demeanor.

"But why did you bring Brynn here?"

"You don't like the hospital staff, so I made special arrangements."

Brynn forced herself not to listen to their conversation, emptying her mind to dull the pain.

Carla, visibly touched, exclaimed, "Lawrence, you're so thoughtful!" She clung to his arm, briefly pouting before looking over at Brynn. "Lawrence, I'm feeling a bit parched. Could I get some water?"

Lawrence turned sharply, his voice cold. "Didn't you hear her?"
