Chapter 5 5

LOIUSA POV

" Congratulations Miss Louisa you are hired , you can start tomorrow" ever since I heard those words from the interviewer, my joy knew no bounds, I was so happy, to get a job here is a hassle, I didn't even know I'll get it, but I did and now I'm elated to work here , yes I am , I started immediately, now I have been working here for two weeks now and it's been nice, this company is at the top of the biusness chain, it has been for there for sometimes, its pay is also great, I can now fully pay my debts, and live comfortably without multiple part time jobs and debtors at my doorstep, I can finally reclaim that building as my own. This is a new beginning, and I feel so good now, I sighed as the coffee machine beeped and retrieved the cup from the coffee machine, one of the wonderful things about working in this company, I checked the time it's almost closing time, I haven't finished my work, it looks like I'll be working overtime today.

I went back to my seat, to find my team busy, walking around, even panicking, did something happen in my absence?? I walked close to whisper to Amy , " Is something wrong, did something happen in my absence".

Amy was furiously types on the keyboard " Alister was supposed to handle the presentation tomorrow and the also lead the exhibition, but she is not available right now, I think she is in the hospital, it's a big one this time since the investors will be here too"

"Ooh, is there no one who can take her place ??" I asked her

" There is none, we are all busy with our own part, other teams are busy with their own, we are supposed to take on the preparation and presentation of the details of the car, there's no one who is ready at this point" Amy said visibly worried.

" Miss Adeline will be here very soon to check on the progress, I don't know how to explain to her that we are not ready " Amy continued, now standing up

" don't your team have any person that is free that can take it on, that can learn it now"

We all turned at the voice that interrupted us at our back " Good morning Ma "

Amy greeted as we came face to face with Miss Adeline, that we were dreading her finding out, it looks like she has come to know about it

" No Ma, all our competent workers are all busy with work that can't be swapped, there is just the rookies that came in newly" Amy answered, " Okay which one of them, do you think can handle it " She asked , and Amy turned to me looking at me like she is about to say ' we have her right here' Miss Adeline picking up Amy's gaze turned to look at my direction

Wait what!! They are not looking at me are they?? No no I don't think I can handle it, even Miss Adeline came out to rectify this problem, it only means it's very important to the company and if for any reason I could not deliver accurately, it means my new job is a goner right??

I am panicking, I know that, but I didn't let it show, I just kept a straight face, to keep my cool

" What is your name" she asked me, " It's Louisa..Kindel Louisa" I said trying to keep my voice stable

" Okay can you handle it" she asked me, okay, she is very straight to the point,

" I really don't know, I mean I haven't looked at the report , I need to study it first to know the details, so I can do well"

* Well that shouldn't be a problem, Amy get her the whole details about the meeting, learn everything about it, looking at the time right now, it looks like you will have to work overtime"

Ugh... I didn't expect she will give to me without hesitation, I haven't even said I can do it!!

" Okay Ma, I'll do my best" I said not even knowing how to answer

" Good, report to me after you're done" she said walking away. Amy and I released the breath we were holding, I turned to to Amy, " Are you crazy, why did you look at me, who says I can do it, what if I don't do well, I can't guarantee I'll be able to handle everything"

" I'm sorry Louisa, but I know you can do it, I'v seen you work, of all the rookies you are the best

If you work a little harder, I think you will pull it off" Amy said and it warmed my heart, she trust that I can do well even if it's my first time handling something like this

" Besides Miss Adeline even trust you with it, which is a big thing" she continued walking towards her desk to pick some document And I followed her.

" These are documents you have look through, study them, Alister already sorted it, I just need you to understand every detail about it and study possible questions that may come up during the presentation" I looked at the documents stacked up at the table looking at me like I was joking with my life, I was on the verge of pulling out and screaming, I can't do this !! but I turned to Amy and she smiled at me, " please, I'm sorry we had to burden with this, but it's for the company, I'm sure Miss Adeline will give you a good reward, if you make an impression "

I couldn't possibly say no to that" No problem I'll do my best, to be ready before tomorrow "

" Thanks you Louisa " she said before walking out . I sighed as I looked at the table, it's going to be a long night for me, the coffee in my hand is almost cold, I'll need a new one soon enough...

I sat down and started working.

I adjusted my clothes, hair and the papers in my hands, as I sat down slowly, it's my first time joining the board meeting, everybody was already seated and waiting for the supposed boss to come so that will can all start immediately, truth to be told, I don't really have stage fright, but I won't deny I'm feeling nervous to stand in front of all this important people and talk, I quickly closed my eyes and said a little prayer, I opened my eyes my eyes to find the boss already inside and taking his seat, is this really the boss ?? I expected to see an old man that is probably in his early sixety, but the guy seated right there looks like he is in his early 20s , he doesn't look over 27, this must be his son, Adrain, for the short while that I worked here, I'v heard a lot about him, some of which are not very nice of him, but he is the twin sister of miss Adeline , they are actually identical twins, miss Adeline is a pretty young woman, but Adrian is on another level, probably its because he is a twin to a girl but he is insanly handsome, his dirty blonde hair is thicker than normal , even his... Wait Louisa are you really checking him out right now...

'get your shit together... and prepare for your presentation 'I chided myself talking my attention out of the guy sitting at the middle and focusing on my book just on cue, he called for the presenter making Adeline turn to look at me and then nodded at me as stood up and went forward to start immediately taking the my small notebook and marker.

I put all my effort and energy to explaining it in detail while everybody listened with rapt attention, which gave me a lot of confidence to continue with vigor.

Adrain was staring at me, his eyes were fixed on me, I mean that's normal because I am the presenter, but I was too conscious of it , I could feel his eyes drilling holes at my back as I face the board, but I just ignored it because I know I am just being paranoid, he is probably just listening with attention to make sure I don't make a mistake.

"That will be all Sir, if it's all right and there's no other questions, we can now move the exhibition hall " I said after I was exhausted everything in my notebook and answering some questions, I expected him to answer or nod so we can leave the room but he just kept looking at me... Did I do something wrong?? I probably made a mistake, I looked at my book once more to make sure before looking at him again still keeping the smile on my face, but right now I am really panicking... My panicking was cut short when he looked at his sister and then cleared his throat before saying, " Ugh.. it's finally I mean the presentation is great" he finally said making me relax a bit, he looks he is not yet settled but decided to approve it because of his sister.

He addressed the board and they all stood up to leave going to the exhibition hall, I breathed in when they all left, Amy came and tapped me on the shoulder whispering " Good job, you're almost done".

I walked behind the bosses as they showcased the newest car and it was officially launched, with everyone clapping, I was geniully excited as I watched him smiling and shaking hands with the investors, I breathed out, finally I pulled it off, but I don't really know what he thought of me, it did matter to me, afterall he is my boss at least he will be soon enough..

Adeline came over and introduced me to Adrain

" She's Louisa, a rookie employee, she's not supposed to handle the presentation but she replaced the head of the P.R team since she had a hospital emergency, I was worried she would make a mistake, but she pulled it off , so I'm glad"

Adrain looked at me like not saying a word with his he's hand in his pocke his eyes seizing me up making me feel self aware , why do I feel he has a problem with me?! , I look at his sister that shot him a look, before he retrieved his hands out of the pocket and shaking my hand before muttering .

" Good job Louisa" he said his Russian accent cutting through the sentence, his hand tightened around my own as I smiled before he released my hand walking out, his sister smiled at me before leaving with him.

I breathed out, finally... Amy came to stand beside me, clearly happy with the whole turn out

"You did a great job, thank you" I nodded looking at the boss broad back as he walked away, I really hope he does not really have any problem with me and maybe I will even have a reward for doing well .
