"I told you to stay put" Riley cornered me and spoke.

"Why is he here?" I quizzed

"Again, none of your concern. Go back and continue with the practice"

"I'm not going. You aren't my mom, so I don't have to listen to you" I could have sworn his eyes flashed a bright gold colour before returning to normal.

"I'm the Alpha of this pack, and whatever I say goes" he growled pissed.

He signalled a man to take me away but I refused.

"I promise I won't cause any trouble, I just want to know why he's here" I pleaded, I placed my hands on his shirt and he slowly looked at his shirt. I took it off immediately and coughed.

"Why? Do you know him?"

"He's my Mate" his eyes bewildered. Questions filled his eyes and I answered them

"But he rejected me. I don't. I can't tell why, but I have this strange feeling that he's up to no good" I said. Riley scratched his head and then turned to enter the Room, letting me in.

Sam sat with someone I think his Beta. Immediately our eyes met he smiled.

"you came back"

"What do you want, Sam?" Riley spoke. His aura spoke dominance that I was scared.

"I'm here for my mate" Everyone was shocked by this statement

"What mate?" Janice asked.

"Her " he gestured to me.

"I told you she wasn't fit...." Ray was saying to Riley but he stopped him

"Not now, Ray"

"That's not possible, she's mine," Riley said boldly.

"I don't know about that. what I know, is my wolf is cheerfully wiggling its tail that we've finally found our mate, and her pheromones are filling my head but yours, Mr. Alpha, your scent is overshadowing her, making her dizzy. Am I right Adriana?"

"What are you talking about Sam? Riley said

"All I'm saying is, I want my mate back If you want your pack to keep existing" he threatens.

Riley laughed...

"Are you threatening me?"

"No, I'm just telling you my plans. So what do you say" he said, his gaze shifting from Riley to me then back to Riley.

"No, I don't want to be your mate. You rejected me before, so why do you still want me" I said, trying to contain my anger.

"I rejected you because of the curse, but now I have the cure"

The cure? Does my curse have a cure?

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Riley asked

"A witch of ours came up with the cure. Her curse must be broken by her mate's mark or blood, like a ritual, she'll have to drink his blood to cleanse herself. The process will purify her blood, breaking the curse eventually" He said and the room fell quiet.

"As you can see, I am her mate and I, and only I, can break her curse. Do the right thing and hand her over to me. I must warn you though, if a person, who isn't her mate, marks her, he'll either die or suffer a great sickness before dying eventually"

"That's a lie, I don't believe you," I said

"It's a fact, if you want to be cured, do the right thing and come with me"

"No, I'm not going. Please Riley don't let him take me. He humiliated me in the past and didn't care about my feelings. He'll do it again, I Know he would" I pleaded to Riley but he kept quiet, they all did.

"It's for your good, Adriana" Ray said.

"No, I'm not going, I won't accept him to be my mate," I said, tears rolling down my cheeks. Riley said no word and left the room, followed by Ray.

"I promise Adriana, we'll get to the bottom of this" Janice came closer to me and wiped off the tears.

"I'll get going, get back to me in two days," Sam said before leaving.

"Oh and tell your brother, if he ever wants to continue his reign as the Alpha, do what is best for everyone," Sam said walking away with his Beta

I went back to my room and cried. I don't want to go with him, I have this guy feeling that he'll treat me worse than my parents. I know he wants to use me for something but I don't know what.

A gentle knock sounded and wiped my face.

The doorknob twisted and Maya walked in

"I heard what happened. I'm sorry" she sat close to me.

"It's okay.." I tried reassuring her but the lump in my throat stopped it. I didn't know when I bursted out crying while Maya consoled me.

"Riley would like to see you" she announced when I was calmed.

I nodded, wiping my tears with the back of my hands.

I walked to Riley's office. Immediately he saw me, he stopped what he was doing.

"I. I" I tried to say but couldn't find the right word.

"You aren't going with him" I raised my eyes to me

"Really?"

"Like Janice said, we'll figure it out"

"Why are you helping me?" I caught him off guard with my question.

"I don't know, but we'll get to the root of this. So don't cry so much, your eyes are puffy" he said and I smiled. Although I didn't feel any spark from him, his words were alluring and caring. "

Meanwhile, you aren't allowed to out of the area. I know Sam very well, he's always up to no good and will try something menacing"

"I can't thank you enough. I promise to repay you, whatever you want to name it and I'll do it" I sniffed

"Oh you will, but right now, we have something important to do"

"And what that"

"We're visiting a friend of mine, she's a witch and I believe she'll find a solution to this"

"How so?"

"She has a coven and they deal with curses and techniques and how to break curses. I'm sure she has a way."

And Riley, drove to the other side of the town to meet his friend. We arrived at the place, and with the environment, you could tell she was a witch. The compound was filled with skulls and weird-looking leaves.

Riley knocked at the door and a middle-aged woman stepped out. They exchanged pleasantries and she invited us in, where we took our seats.

Riley explained to the woman our reason for coming.

"I see, this is tough. Why don't you take her to her mate"

"We can't do that," Riley said

She stared at Riley before nodding

"I understand, there's another solution but the people who tried it never lived to tell the story. The moon Goddess chooses our mate but if you want to change your fate, you'll have to do something very risky. 45% chance if, both of you will come out alive"

"What's that?" I asked eagerly.

"You'll have to mark her. your blood is royalty but you can't go with the rituals because she's not your mate, however, I marking her Will as the solution. she won't be your mate but there's a chance the curse will be lifted. Your ancestors have this unusual phenomenon gift that can undo a spell" She paused

"Your great-grandmother was a witch when she married your great-grandfather, a werewolf, it was a forbidden marriage but they made it work at the cost of his life, he died early and a curse was placed on his generation from the goddess herself. They wouldn't find their destined mate even if they do, they'll die"

"So if you want to go the same route, mark her, at the expense of someone's life." She warned.
