Chapter 10 Full of mischief

Alex's POV.

"Fuck, Anna." My whole body went into a frenzy at the sight before me.

I didn't hesitate a second before I dipped my whole body into the pool and when I resurfaced to search for Brianna, she wasn't inside the pool anymore.

My eyes grew large when I saw the new scene. Diego was dragging her out. I swum to the edge where he had carried her.

"Is she breathing? What the fuck happened?" My fingers were already wooble.

"She's very cold. We need to get..." I didn't listen to the end of whatever Diego had to say before I hit him to get off of Brianna.

He was touching her for too long and I wasn't beginning to accept it anymore.

With a hurting heart, I touched her neck. Her pulse were still thumping. "Ah, thank goodness. But what the fuck happened? Stacy?!" My voice came out harsh.

My eyes were venomous. "You did this on purpose. Don't let me come back to you, bitch."

I wasn't thinking well. I needed to treat Brianna first, so I didn't want to mind Stacy any further.

Brianna's eyes wasn't opening, and her whole body had frozen up.

"She should be fine with some hot room, warm tea when she is a little conscious and most especially body warmth. And pain killers for her joints. The pressure of the water couldn't have been nice." Diego was assisting but my ego wasn't accepting it.

I didn't trust any of them to actually care for Brianna. I know the kind of friends that I have.

"What do you care?" My tone came out scowling which made him raise his hands into the air.

"I meant no offense."

"There you go being that gentleman when you're a real snake. I'm going to take her inside. Y'all do whatever you want to do here." I stopped there but he got my message. He knew Brianna before but didn't tell me about it, and now he wanted to act like he suddenly cared about her?

I was about to carry Brianna in a bridal style when my phone rang. My mind went straight to Dad, as he had mentioned he would call this night.

My face flaters as I went to pick up my phone. "Take Brianna to the room upstairs, down the hall to the left. I'll join shortly after."

"A private line?" I muttered and added. "Hello?"

No one talked.

"Hello?!"

Again, no response. I can only hear the sound of a low audibly music, playing in the background.

Wait...I know this song!

My breathing became ragged instantly, my fist clenching and I dashed to Stacy's front. Her phone's placed to her ears. "What the fuck is wrong with you? What's your deal? Spill, fucker!"

She was rather amused, a grin dancing on her lips.

"I swear on my life, if you don't talk now..."

"What would you do? Hit me?"

"So be it."

Her smile diminished. "We all know you, Ares. You care about your own stepsister. You fought against me because of her. You're lashing out. I should be asking you. What's your deal?"

My brows changed from wrinkled enraged to wrinkled furrowed in confusion. "The fuck?"

"You guys fucking?"

I took one step forward, inches away from Stacy and squinted my eyes. "If you play me one more time again, I'd fuck your arse, and you know how much pain that'd be. Literally."

I turned away. I was done with her childish conversation. Right from day one, she had wanted me for herself, so seeing me care about Brianna today must have taken a toll on her.

Good for her anyway. She was not worth the pity after all.

"I knew it. You are fucking her. That's why you care! You fuck literally every woman you lay your hands on."

"Yeah, you're right. That's why I fucked your mother too, and damn, she was an easy target just like her daughter."

"Okay. Okay. Y'all calm down. This is getting fucked up." Killian interrupted in a slur tone. He was drunk and useless on that couch.

I shook my head and continued on my way out.

Behind me, Stacy was spewing negative words but I didn't just care.

When I get into the house, I headed straight for my room where I had directed Diego to take Brianna.

I finally got there and opened to the door to a sight that freaked me out for a second. It was like my body had its own control, as before I could even think, I leaped forward and snatch Diego's hands from Brianna's hair.

"Why the fuck were you too close to her? I didn't ask you to..." My eyes shifted back to Brianna. He had tucked her into the bed and turned on the heater in my room.

"Why were you touching her hair that way and your face close to hers? You a pervert?" The facial expression I was giving scares Diego so he backed off.

"No, I...I just wanted..."

I shook my head at the way he was pathetic before I grabbed him by the collar. "She isn't anyone you ever think of getting close to, okay?"

He nodded in a rush. His eyes were big.

"Ares." Her angelic voice came in a whisper, and I dropped Diego's collar. There is a wetness brimming her eyes. Brianna's tone was still coarse and tightened.

She shook her head at me as I come to sit next to her.

"Are you okay?"

"You're fucked up, you know?" She stated which made me frown.

"What?"

"You know, I just want to be left alone. Please get out." She said and tried to sit up.

Diego had prepared the Lipton, submerged into the water already. I picked up the cup and passed it to Brianna. She just collected it from me casually.

"He was touching you in ways that were inappropriate. I had to stop him." My eyes threw evil gawking at Diego who still remained in the room when he should have ran off.

What had I done wrong?

"I was conscious. He helped me gain that. The least you could do is be grateful especially when it was your so-called lover girl who made me fall into the pool."

He wanted to talk, but I shunned him. "I don't have the energy for this. You act like you care one minute and the next, you're being a jerk, but know what? I'm your stepsister. We are families, which means even if Diego touches me inappropriately, it's none of your concern. I can protect myself."
