Chapter 4 False alarm

As the phone rang, Marietta quickly picked up the phone to answer the call but it went off because it was out of battery.

Gabriella and Marietta together were able to calm down Lilly. She felt asleep after having some soup her mother made. She felt asleep and woke up the next morning. She got out of bed and stood before a mirror standing in the hallway.

She said to herself in the mirror" What have you done Lilly? You gave yourself up to a spoilt little rich kid who is also an idiot. You trusted a fool. You should be ashamed of yourself. Huh?" She picked up her phone and tried to call Oliver again. She taught his reaction a day before was because he couldn't digest the message.

But by now he should be calm and might have taught of a solution. Unfortunately the phone was not reachable throughout the day. She continued for about a week. Her calls weren't going through neither were her messages delivered. It now downed on her that Oliver had really abandoned her. She deleted his number and anything that has to do with him from her mobile phone.

She had made up her mind to give birth to the child and give herself and her baby a better future. As days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, Lilly's belly kept protruding. Now everyone in the neighborhood knows she was pregnant and abandoned. As it is people would always gossip around.

Lilly moved on with her life as if nothing happened. She always rushed to her phone whenever a notification popped up hoping to receive a message from Oliver but was always met with a dissappointment.

One morning even though she promised not to ever reach out to Oliver again, she sent him an email telling him howfar her pregnancy had gone and that they are going to have a baby boy. After some few minutes,she checked her phone to see if the email was sent successfully. It delivered successfully but their was no reply. She was heart broken and She cries as her face turned Crimson red. "Why is this happening to me God, what have I done wrong. My baby don't deserve this." She said as she continued crying.

As Lilly was crying, she had a sharp pain in her pelvic area and shouted "Mom! Mom!! Please help me ". She dragged herself down from the bed and headed for the door. "Oh ! My God what is this? What happened Lilly?" The mother said as her heart was beating so fast .

She immediately called Marietta to meet them at the hospital. Gabriella held Lilly and took her outside the house to fetch a cab. Marietta ran to the hospital her cheeks was flushed, her heartbeat was irregular and her chest rose and fell rapidly .

As soon as Marietta got to the hospital she headed to the emergency wing of the hospital to meet them. On reaching there Marietta saw Gabriella and hugged her tightly while they were both crying non stop.

Immediately the doctor got out of the room, they both sprung from the seat and Gabriella asked the doctor in a cold voice " How is my daughter and grandson doing? Would they be alright? The doctor said" Ma'am it was a false alarm, she still has about two weeks before delivery. And the ultrasound showed her and her baby are in good condition. But she is so stressed up she needs bed rest if I may suggest." The doctor said.

Gabriella was excited to hear the positive report from the doctor and said prayers at the hospital chapel. She asked Marietta to go get her some sweets for offering. Few hours later Lilly was discharged from the hospital, Gabriel took Lilly home.

Gabriella sometimes feels sad as a mother whenever she looks at Lilly and what she had to go through as a teenager. She blames herself for not being able to give her much in life. But the fact that she supported her daughter in this critical state of her life made her an exceptional mother.

Gabriella is loved by many in her neighborhood. People come from far distance not because she sells taco and other Mexican delicacies but because of the love and happiness she spreads around her. And that's the more reason why many people around also loved Lilly right from when she was a baby. She is Gabriella's only child.

Lilly growing up was such a windbag and very stubborn. That's typical of an only child in the house. Lilly comes out to help her mother take care of their customers needs. The neighbors also took very good care of Lilly and her pregnancy.
