Chapter 5 5

Liam's P.O.V

Today was the day Lily and I were to go to Sabrina's school to meet her new teacher. Lily had suggested we do that, to let the teacher know about Sabrina's illness and how to handle it when she had a crisis.

We set out of the house and soon arrived at the school. As we stepped out of the car, my ringtone blared out loud.

I turned my gaze to Lily, waving my phone at her. "Darling, I think you should go in first. I will catch up with you."

Lily nodded and headed towards Sabrina's class. While I was engrossed in the conversation, my eyes caught sight of a familiar figure. One I could never forget even in a million years. I took a few steps forward to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me.

My eyes widened in surprise and I stood frozen in the schoolyard as my eyes caught sight of Isabella. I watched as she came down from the blue car and went over to the passenger side to open the door. A boy and girl child who looked identical stepped out, I felt my chest tighten as something about them struck a familiarity in me.

I could not believe my eyes, I could not believe Isabella was right in front of me. "Why was she here? Are those her kids?"

I continued staring at her, trying to decipher the reason why she was at my child's school.

As if noticing I was staring at her, she raised her head and her eyes scanned the environment until they settled on me. As we locked eyes, confusion crossed her features which then dissipated into recognition and was replaced with anger and hate.

I scoffed inwardly, "Why was she glaring at me with such anger? I was not the one who destroyed our happy home and brought pain to grandfather and me."

Yet, here she was, glaring at me with cold eyes. I wanted to walk away without saying a word to her but I couldn't. I could not take my eyes off of her and I stood rooted in the spot as if I was being controlled by an unforeseen force.

Isabella began to walk towards me, her hips swaying from side to side as her eyes remained fixed on me with the kids trudging behind her.

I couldn't help but notice how beautiful and radiant she had become over the years, the shadow of tiredness that lingered in her eyes did not in any way taint her shine.

She was flawless like an angel, my heart began to palpitate as I watched her get closer and closer to me.

A part of me hoped she was going to finally apologize for putting grandfather and me through such torment.

But to my greatest astonishment, Isabella walked past me without even sparing me a glance like I didn't even exist.

Instinctively, I grabbed her arm and she stopped in her tracks. She turned to me, her eyes shooting daggers as she swatted my hand away.

"Do not touch me ever again!" she warned while pulling her kids behind her.

I felt anger stir within me at the way she spoke to me. After everything she did to me, what right does she have to be resentful towards me?

"You are the one who hurt grandfather and I and you dare be resentful towards me. You should be asking for forgiveness."

She stared at me like I had gone crazy before bursting into a loud hysterical laughter. "I see you are still the same old clown. I am not surprised you are still living in your delusions. We have nothing to say to each other Liam. You shouldn't have stopped me."

Before I could reply to her, one of her twins, the boy interjected, breaking the tension. "Mommy, is he your friend?"

I shifted my gaze from Isabella to the child and something about him struck me.

"Are they your children?" I asked, not taking my gaze off the child.

She held the child and further pushed him behind her. "It's none of your business. Next time you see me, I would appreciate it if you acted like we do not know each other."

Just as she turned to leave, Lily's voice filled the air. "Hello, Isabella. How long has it been? Five years or six years?"

Isabella's face contorted into a deep frown and she ushered her twins to go to their classes. "Go on pumpkins, I will see you later in the day," she said, giving them a peck on their foreheads.

"Bye, mommy. We love you," they replied, waving as they ran to their classes.

She turned to face Lily and crossed her hands over her chest. "Lily. I wish I could say it is nice meeting you again but unfortunately, we both know I would be lying."

A sinister grin crossed Lily's lips, taking long strides towards Isabella. "Is meeting you here a coincidence or are you still obsessed with us? Are you stalking us?"

Isabella chuckled with mirth while shaking her head in disbelief. "You're such a clown Lily."

"I think we should direct that question to your precious husband," She whispered with a smug smirk.

My brows arched in surprise as I watched her in amusement. Isabella had become feisty, she was completely different from the Isabella who let people walk over her.

The Isabella I had married years back was a sensitive and weak girl who would cry easily at the littlest thing.

She was bolder and did not look like one who would let anyone walk over her and that ignited something in me. Something I could not quite place.

I did not know I had a smile on my face until I found Lily staring at me with a frown etched on her face... "Why are you smiling?"

Clearing my throat to hide my amusement, I turned to Isabella to see her reaction but she glared back at me with a stoic expression. Her stoic expression further provoked me because I used to be able to read her like a book.

"Her delusion is what made me smile," I mocked, trying to get a reaction out of Isabella.

Isabella sneered at me with a look of disdain in her eyes. "I do not know why you guys are here but I would appreciate it if we never crossed paths again. And if eventually, we do, I would appreciate it more if we all ignored each other presence and acted like we do not know each other. And also Lily...."

Before she could complete her words, a voice yelled her name from a distance, interrupting her words. "Isa."

I darted my gaze from Isabella to the owner of the voice and my breath caught in my throat as a sense of recognition washed over me.

Standing before me with a wide smile on his face, was the man whom Isabella had cheated on me with while we were still married, the man she was kissing in the photos I saw.

He got to where she was and looped his arms around Isabella's shoulders, pulling her into his embrace.

She giggled like a child as she tried to wiggle out of his embrace. "Philip, why did you come back? Is something wrong?" She asked with concern in her voice.

"I came to give you this," Philip said, passing a white fluffy jacket to her. "You forgot it in the car. I have been trying to reach you but you were not picking up your calls," he added.

My heart constricted at the sight before me and anger began to course through my veins. I curled my fist into a ball, I could not believe she stayed with him after all the pain she put me through.

What a cheap slut! I wish grandfather was alive to see this, to see how the one woman whom he defended and trusted a lot turned out to be the devil's incarnate.

I let out a wry chuckle. "I see you both remained together even after the chaos you both caused."

Isabella, turned her attention to me, furrowing her brows in confusion.

Ignoring her, I walked towards Philip, and placed a hand on his shoulder, leaned forward, and whispered. "You should be careful with this one, she does not stick with one man. Her heart belongs to no one."

Philip shoved my hand away and shot me a scornful look. "I do not know who you are mister but no one cares what you think. I suggest you focus on your own life," he retorted, gesturing towards Lily who stared at me with a glint of anger in her eyes.

I was taken aback by his reply and I retreated from his side. His reply made me realize that I was acting like a jealous ex. I backed away and quickly stole a glance at Isabella whose eyes were ablaze with anger.

Why was I embarrassing myself this way? What is wrong with me? Why was I acting like a pained ex who was still in love? I took in a sharp deep breath, trying to calm my emotions before walking up to Lily.

Lily let out a disdainful scoff as our eyes met and I hurriedly interlocked our fingers, placing a kiss on hers.

"Let's go," I told her.

She shot me a glare and turned her gaze to Isabella as she smiled widely. "We would love to stay and catch up with you both but we have a lot to do at the moment."

"And Isabella, I hope you stay with this one and not hop on another woman's man."

And with that, she pulled me away from the scene and towards the car.

Immediately we got inside the car, she turned to glare at me. "What was that for? Why were were acting like a child whose milk was taken away from him?"

I remained silently, gripping the steering wheel tightly. I knew I messed up back there, but I did not know what came over me. I could not explain it, I knew I felt anger towards Isabella but there was some other feeling I could not quite understand.

Letting out a sigh, I placed my hand on her thigh. "I am sorry sweetie. I just hated the fact that she was doing well after everything she did to me. You have every right to be mad at me but please forgive me."

She scoffed and pried my hands off her lap, "Tell me, Liam, are you still in love with that slut?"

I ignored her question because I was not ready to argue with her and focused on driving us back home.

But she became infuriated and grabbed my arm, making me lose control of the steering. "Answer me, you jerk! Answer me," she yelled, while I struggled to gain back control of the steering.

"Lily!" I yelled, as we crashed head-on into a tree.
