Chapter 2 Committing Suicide

As Taylor drove out of her parents' residence, her phone which was in her pocket couldn't stop vibrating. She couldn't count how many times Daniel had called in the span of ten minutes.

"I can't marry him. I'll never marry that demon! I know what I'll do. I'll run. I'll run so fast they can't find me. I'll run back to Daniel and we'll go to the farthest of the earth to start a family!"

She kept mumbling those words over and over again like someone who had lost her mind. She had no idea how long she drove within California aimlessly, but the next time she looked at the time, it was already six in the evening.

Her phone also had over a hundred missed calls, a dozen from Daniel and a dozen from her mother. She didn't bother to confirm her words as she stopped the car on a bridge.

Her eyes were blank as she overlooked the waters. Something in it looked so serene and wonderful and for a moment, she contemplated diving in.

It was better to die than to get married to Andrew Radford. Although far away, she heard a lot about him and his escapades. He was a monster with no feelings or regards for human life.

To him, he was meant to have anything and everything he desired. Surely, he'd go crazy if he didn't have her, wouldn't he?

As soon as that thought settled in, Taylor smiled broadly and crossed over the railing. The cool evening breeze came strong then, moving up her dressing as she struggled to gain a footing.

As she stood there, she reminisced on the past few months she had spent with Daniel. Her charming knight.

She had met him in the first role she played in a movie. That was four years ago. Their friendship had blossomed immediately and in a couple of months, they became inseparable.

In their years of being together, she discovered Daniel wasn't really who he said he was. But she didn't mind, after all, she had also left California for somewhere else because she was running from the duty of being Dante Fairchild's daughter.

It wasn't until a few months ago that she told him all about herself. But he seemed to already know. She hadn't asked him of his identity back then and now she was glad she didn't. Otherwise, she'd have been reeling with guilt.

If he was really from a wealthy family, then he'd get over her sooner and his family would find someone else for him to settle down with.

As soon as Taylor's mind settled down, she slowly released her grip on the rails.

At the moment, a certain man pushed everything on the table to the floor in frustration. He ignored his bleeding hands and kept dialing the same number over and over again.

"She still isn't answering. Why isn't she answering? Taylor always answers unless there's something wrong! Yes, there must be something wrong!"

Daniel was losing his mind as well. His eyes, which had reddened and become wild, glanced at the suited man before him.

"Is there something wrong in California, Philip?" He asked calmly.

Philip, a man who looked no less than 40, raised his eyes and unhurriedly shook his head.

"There's nothing going on in California, sir. But I did hear a rumor."

"A rumor? What rumor? Is the rumor, perhaps, the reason why Taylor isn't answering her phone?" Daniel asked hurriedly, scratching his head in the process.

"There's a rumor Andrew Radford is getting married to the only daughter of the Fairchild family, Taylor Fairchild." Philip revealed.

Something flew past him almost immediately, but the man didn't flinch. Not even the sound of the glass jar breaking into pieces or of its shards entering his back fazed him.

"Andrew Radford? Of course he has eyes on my bride! That makes sense." Daniel laughed out loud, clenching his hands tightly.

He bore no personal grudge against Andrew, but the two had crossed paths a few times and those incidents were far from pleasant.

Daniel Holt. The Holt family was a renowned family known in California and beyond. It was said the successor of the family fortune abandoned it claiming he had a passion for entertainment and since taking over the reins of the family meant leaving his life on set, he would rather abandon his identity as the successor of the Holt family.

Daniel was a stubborn one and Philip had used half of his life trying to convince Daniel to return back to the family. Who knew all he had to do was involve Taylor and everything would be solved?

"Fine. Let's return back to California. I can't stand the thought of that bastard getting married to my girlfriend." Daniel hissed, walking ahead of Philip.

"Mr. Holt, the marriage is a done deal. According to what I heard, Dante Fairchild fell into one of Andrews's traps. There's no way out for Taylor other than death." Philip brought to Daniel's notice.

Daniel paused, but said nothing for a very long time.

"Either way, let's get to California first."

Philip's phone vibrated in his pocket and he took it out. When his eyes saw the news flash, he gulped down nervously and slipped back his phone into his pocket.

This..this isn't good.
