Chapter 6 Arguing

After a few emotional seconds because she finally met someone who knew her in this timeline, Anna pushed Nick away. He looked younger than the familiar image in her memory. His body was tall and slim like a scholar, his hair wasn't long enough to tie but still had a pretty and messy style as always. He was wearing a white blouse and looked neat, but if one looked closely, his face was a bit haggard, his blue-gray eyes staring at her.

Anna was about to ask if he was sick when she suddenly heard people around whispering: "It turns out she really knows Dr. Lawson."

"But just now, that girl said she was a lowly actress pretending to know him."

"A thief knows a thief as a wolf knows a wolf. Young girls today are so rude!"

Anna turned around and saw the girl who had sarcastically mocked her shyly walk away. However, she didn't care much, getting straight to the point with Nick:

"Where am I now? I mean, where is Anna?"

"In the intensive care unit." He replied, still looking at her in surprise. "I can't believe you're a famous actress Tracy now!"

"I know. So pretty, huh?" Anna joked.

"Yes, but I liked you better when you were Anna."

Was that a consolation? But she didn't think much and asked him, "Show me the way."

They arrived at the special floor and entered the room where Anna's body was lying. Anna was a bit shocked when she was standing there looking at herself lying on the hospital bed, her wrist connected to the IV line.

"You suddenly fainted while at school. Everyone was very panicked. After that, you lay there for months and---"

"Wait, what?" She interrupted Nick. "What was I doing at school? I graduated early and at 22 years old, I started working in the scientific research center, right?"

"What are you talking about?" It was Nick's turn to look at her with wide eyes. "I know you're good and that was your plan, but your current job is as a university lecturer."

"What the...?"

Anna was surprised and suddenly understood why yesterday, when she searched for her name online, she couldn't find any matching results. Looks like Rose stole more from her than she thought.

"Ring ring." The phone suddenly rang, and Anna took it out. The name displayed on it was Manager Collins. She pressed the answer button, "Hi."

"God, Tracy, where are you? What did you do?" On the other end of the line, a woman's urgent voice rang out.

"Calm down. What did I do?" Anna asked back.

"What did you do to anger Director Hughes? Your role was canceled by him."

Tracy's role? The role that Rose said she was jealous of? If Anna remembers correctly, in the old timeline, Tracy became famous after participating in a pretty good movie.

"Which movie is that role in?" She asked the manager.

At Tracy's house.

Liam was sitting on the sofa drinking coffee that Betty had brought him, occasionally raising his hand to glance at the clock. It was almost 8 a.m. but Tracy still hadn't returned. Where did she go? He sent someone to look for her but hadn't found her, and Betty didn't know, either.

"Sir," Martin walked in, a stack of documents in his hand. "You have to go to the company. There is an important meeting today."

"You know what? You're only good at pushing me." Liam still leisurely drank coffee and changed the subject. "Have you heard from Tracy yet?"

"She went to Heartstone Hospital," Martin replied.

Liam immediately asked, "To do what?"

"To meet a doctor named Nick Lawson."

"Who the hell is Nick Lawson?" Liam raised his eyebrows. This was a strange name that Tracy had never mentioned before. For some reason, hearing this name made him feel very disliked.

"He is the heir to Lawson Corporation, a large medical corporation. Mr. Turner once introduced you to them." Martin answered with an interesting expression, "I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I just received news that Director Hughes gave the role of Miss Thompson to someone else."

Hughes was the name of the fat and ugly director who tried to rape Tracy yesterday.

Liam wasn't surprised. But was it possible that because she was so broke due to losing her role, she looked for another sponsor?

Liam put the coffee cup down on the table, and stood up, "Let's go."

Martin looked at him warily, "Where are we going, sir?"

"To the hospital you just said. Heartstone something, right?"

"But what about the meeting? There are 10 minutes left until it starts."

"Cancel it."

In the hospital.

"So according to you, Rose Harris stole your time machine and then came back here to steal everything from Tracy? This is crazy! Rose is this country's genius scientist!" Nick said after listening to Anna analyze the situation.

"Because she stole everything from me, she became a scientist!" Anna still spoke calmly, smiling sarcastically. "I bet Tracy's role this time will also fall into her hands. She wants everyone else's everything. It's okay if you don't believe me. Take your time. I have to go."

She went out to the hospital yard. Because she was busy thinking about how to handle the director, she didn't pay attention and bumped into someone walking in the opposite direction. The impact was quite strong, so Anna staggered and was about to bump into the wall when a faster arm reached out and grabbed her waist.

"You have to be careful!" Nick teased while supporting her, his tone seemed inexplicably happy.

Anna was about to remove his hand and stand still, but at that moment, someone was faster, pulling her towards him while pushing Nick away with the other hand. Her body bumped into a solid chest. The masculine, luxurious, and slightly familiar scent wafted in the air. Anna looked up in surprise and saw Liam standing there, one arm holding her and his eyes looking towards Nick. She didn't know how to describe it, but his look was like he wanted to shoot a laser through Nick's head.

"What are you doing?" Nick asked. Luckily, he didn't fall, just took a few steps back.

"You should ask yourself that question. During the day, in a public place, you hug someone else's wife," Liam replied sarcastically.

"Who is your wife?" Nick frowned and asked back, looking angry.

But as if he remembered something, he laughed mockingly, "Oh, she's just your fiancée. But why don't you ask her now if she agrees to marry you?"

"As if she will marry a kid like you," Liam mocked him.

"Hey, calm down. What's wrong with you two?" Anna exclaimed.

But Nick didn't listen to her, he continued: "It's still better than marrying a contemptible jerk like you!"

She looked at Nick in surprise. What the hell was he talking about?
