Chapter 5 SHELTERED

They panted running in their wolf form.

"Laya, I can't continue running." Laga said panting heavily.

"You still need to run." Laya said.

Laga looked backwards and saw that Aparousa along with her mother were still far.

They haven't reached the woods.

"Can we just find a place to rest for a while." Laga said panting.

"They are no where close to the woods." Laya looked at her sister and shook her head.

"Moreover, they have only seen our wolves while we were running." Laga said.

"But they can sense us." Laya said and Laga nodded.

"That's right but if I run again, I will faint." Laga said.

Laya looked around and smiled seeing some leaves.

"Over there." She said pointing to the leaves and her sister smiled.

"Let's go." Laga said.

They ran to where the leaves was and rested there a bit saying they would leave after Laga is fine.

"Where is that sound coming from?" Laga asked looking back. They heard some humming coming from the back.

"Can it be our parents?" Laya asked and Laga shivered.

They got ready to run away but were stopped on seeing a handsome wolf.

"Hi ladies, I heard you discussing together. I can help you." He said.

"And how do you think we will believe you." Laya asked.

"I don't have anything to say but if you want to escape Aparousa wrath then follow me." The wolf said.

"How do you know about Aparousa?" Laya asked.

"You didn't introduce yourself." Laga said.

"Oh my bad. I am so sorry." He said. "My name is Tom."

"How do you know Aparousa?" Laya asked.

"I know he believes that whoever doesn't want him should be out of his way." Tom said.

"Then why is he looking for us?" Laya asked.

"To break you and plan your death in an unpleasant way where no one is going to suspect him." Tom said.

"How do you know about this?" Laya asked.

"They are close by." Laga whispered and they looked at Tom.

"Help us out." They said and Tom walked to a tree.

"Follow me." He said and advised them to hold onto the tree. The tree fell then they ran.

"Here!" He shouted.

"Why did you shout?" Laga asked.

"Distraction." He said and continued running.

Some hours later, Laga became tired.

"Where are we heading to?" She asked panting.

"Really, where are we going?" Laya asked.

"My Comfort zone." Tom said pointing to a house not so far away.

"You came all the way to our side?" Laga asked and Tom nodded.

"But why?" Laya asked.

"I could sense danger from somewhere so I walked for hours." He said. "Anyway let's go."

They rested a bit then began walking to Tom's house. They entered the house and Tom led them to a chair.

"Make yourself comfortable." He said and walked to his room. Minutes later, he walked out looking more handsome.

"Wow." Laga exclaimed making him smile.

"I will get you some clothes and take you to a room so that you can change." Tom said. "I hope you won't mind a guy cloth?"

"We have no choice." Laya said and he nodded. He quickly walked into his room and came out with two polo and trousers.

"I know they might not be your size but..." He was saying but Laya cut in. "It's worth it." She said looking at her sister who frowned.

"Let me take you to your room." He said and they followed him.

"Here is the room." He said getting to the room.

"Alright, thanks." Laya said collecting the key.

She closed the door and looked at her sister.

"Why are you like this to him, Laya?" Laga asked.

"What am I to him?" Laya asked. "We just met him today. We shouldn't trust him."

Laga looked at her sister and smiled.

"Let's change our form." She said.

It was a painful experience for them to change into their human form but they did it after all. They wore what had been provided for them and walked out of the room.

Getting to the living room, they looked around for Tom.

"I guess you both are tired from the journey." Tom said making them turn back. "May I know your name?"

"You know my step father's name but not our name." Laya said.

"Oh yes. I will let you know about that later." Tom said.

"No now." Laya said surprising both Tom and Laga.

"Alright." Tom said. He began by telling of how his mother gave birth to him informing him that Aparousa was the cause of his father's death. He told them of how his mother died some years back and how he learnt about Aparousa murdering one of his friend's wife because she didn't want him to mingle with them again.

"Wow!" They both exclaimed.

"How do you believe it?" Laga asked and he smiled.

"I have the ability to know the truth and lie." He said.

"Alright." Laya said. "My mom didn't want my father because of this ability and they fought over it." Laga said wanting to test him.

"You know that is a lie. Your father left her because she birthed female children." He said and Laga smiled.

"My mom married a man that always maltreat us." Laya said.

"That's because he has been influenced by his friends to do it but he will have still killed you." Tom said and Laga sighed.

"Why didn't you sense danger since..." Laga was saying.

"You were always in." He said and Laya nodded.

"You do not need to trust me now but you can do later." He said and led them to the table.

"You prepared this?" Laga asked uncovering her plate.

"Yes I did." He said and Laga smiled.

Laya looked at them as they smiled and continued her food.

In Kamela's house, she sat weeping.

"My love, do not worry. They will be back soon. Moreover, you shouldn't stress yourself because of our little one in you." Aparousa said and she smiled.

"I didn't budge caring for them when I found love again." She said taking up their picture. "Come back to me, my daughters."

Aparousa sighed and told his wife that he wants to go to the room for a short while and she nodded while sobbing. He walked into the room and angrily hit the table.

"I couldn't murder them so I took the situation as to sleep with them until they find no peace." He said to himself.

"Where could they have gone?" He asked. "I wouldn't stop until I find them."

He smirked and walked to the bed.

"This wouldn't have been if they saw me as a good father." He said to himself. "Ahhh." He heard Kamela scream and ran out to meet his wife.

She was holding on her stomach.

"What is it, my love?" Aparousa asked getting to her.

"My stomach!" She screamed.

Aparousa immediately ran into the room, got his van key and walked out.

"Why don't we take my car?" Kamela asked.

"The van will be conducive for you." He said and she nodded.

They walked out of the house into the van and Aparousa drove to the hospital. Getting to the hospital, Kamela was wheeled away. Few minutes later, the doctor who attended to Kamela walked out to Aparousa.

"You have nothing to worry about. Your wife is fine as well as her pregnancy but..." The doctor was saying.

Sweat fell down Aparousa's face as the doctor spoke.

"She can't have the baby." Aparousa said tiredly.

"Not so." The doctor said making him smile.

"Then why the but?" Aparousa asked.

"Do not make her undergo any stress. She had stressed herself and the baby couldn't bear it which is the reason for her pain." The doctor said.

Aparousa nodded and thanked the doctor. "

Those girls are the cause of this." He said to himself. "If anything happens to my child, I promise to kill them."

He sat for thirty minutes then saw his wife and left with her.

...

Two months had passed and the sisters were happy living with Tom.

"I am glad you both are happy." Tom said sitting with them after lunch.

He had grown fond of looking into Laga's beautiful eyes.

"Yes we are glad and will like to engage in the house activities not leaving it alone for you." Laya said.

"It's no stress." Tom said.

"I support my sister. Since you helped us, we've been idle." Laga said and Tom smiled.

"Yes, your highness." He said making Laga smile. "You can help me with the house duties."

Laya smiled looking at Laga who nodded. Tom placed his hand on his jaw as he thought.

"I just remembered that in six months time, there will be a pack fight." He said. "Will you both like to come to watch?"

"Definitely." Laga said and Laya nodded.

"Have you ever been to the kingdom?" Tom asked and they shook their head. Tom closed his eyes and waved his head.

"What's wrong, Tom?" Laga asked.

"I don't know but I feel the Alpha is going to die." Tom said.

Laya looked on as she remembered the discussion she had with her sister about the Alpha sons.

"The Alpha has to live long." She said.

"I hope so." Tom said looking at Laga.

"What?" Laga asked and Tom smiled.

"I feel a connection between you and the Alpha." He said.

"We are twin." Laya said.

"I don't understand my feeling anymore." Tom said looking at Laga.

"But all I know is that I love you, Laga." He said making her blush as she looked at her sister who smiled.

"I also do." She said and Laya clapped.

"I will like to leave you alone since we are adults." Laya said and left.

Tom moved closer to Laga who couldn't help but blush. He held up her face and kissed her lip.

"Stop it." She heard something say in her head and smiled.

"I am Lillian, your wolf." The thing said and Laga looked at Tom.

"Not now." She said taking her hands off Tom.

"I really love you, Tom but I think since you just made me to know about it then I should prepare myself."

"Alright, I do understand." Tom said and sighed leaving her alone.

"Lillian!" She called her wolf softly.

"We are just meant to know each other but you were forced to know me two months ago because of Aparousa." Lillian said.

"Yes but I am glad you helped me." Laga said smiling.

"We can introduce ourselves, right?" Lillian asked.

"Sure, we can." Laga answered.

They spent time discussing together about life and ended in an hour time. Laya walked to the living room with a smile.

"Talking to Lillian?" She asked surprising Laga.

"How do you know about her?" Laga asked.

"It's my ability to identify wolves." Laya said and Laga smiled.

"Wow, my sister has a wonderful ability" Laga said smiling.

Tom walked smiling.

"Ladies, I will be back in some minutes." He said and they nodded.

"Do not let Andrew get angry. Follow it lead." Laya said and Tom turned to her. "How do you know about my wolf?" He asked and Laya smiled.

"Just got to know about my ability." She said.

"Have a good time out there." Laya said.

He turned and walked to the door. After he had left, Laya walked to sit with her sister.

"Have you found out your ability?" She asked Laga who shook her head.

"I guess I will know about it soon." Laga said.

"I pray you do." Laya said then adjusted.

"So tell me what happened between you both." Laya said and Laga smiled.

"He kissed my lip then stopped. When I felt happy, I heard Lillian telling me to stop." Laga said and Laya smiled.

"That means he isn't for you." Laya said but Laga shook her head.

"No, I love him." Laga said.

"I know you do but..." Laya was saying but Laga cut in.

"The moon goddess can't..." Laga was saying but Laya placed a finger on her lip.

"Don't say that." Laya said to her sister.
