I felt like an object being scrutinized by its owner, at least it looked that way in my position. "What? Why are you here? How did you find me?" I couldn't help but express my shock.
A grin spread across his face as he looked sideways. Alot of things went through my head but what I seemed to pay attention to was how amazing he looked in his suit.
"I don't think you're in a position to ask that question." His face showed no emotion.
"What do you mean?" I was genuinely confused.
"After your little stunt two nights ago you're lucky I let you even talk to me," he said as he put his eyes on me again. "So, this is where you work during the weekends? I should tell your boss how unfit you are to even step into his house."
It was so hard to suppress my laughter from erupting. Did he think I worked here? How about I showcase a little of my acting skills. I put my knee on the floor and met my eyes with his.
"Please, sir!" I pleaded as I put my hand together, "That night was a mistake, i... I didn't mean to-"
"Enough," he gritted. Why was I enjoying this so much? Just thinking about how he would react when he realized this was my home was too... I don't even know how to explain how excited I was.
Before I could finish thinking about how thrilling the situation would be, he walked passed me.
I stood up and followed him sneakily as he entered my dad's office. I arched my brows. He knocked, waited for a response from my father, and walked in.
I went towards the door and knelt so I could listen through the keyhole. What business does my dad have with that man.
"_...She doesn't need to know why we're making this arrangement..._"
Huh? What arrangement are they going on about?
"_...did he find her?_"
Ugh, what are they saying?
Leave it to me to make eavesdropping hard. I quickly adjusted my position.
"_...marriage will protect... Safer in your hands..._"
Come on dad, speak a little louder.
"_...an honor Mr. Branc._"
_Wait a minute. Something doesn't feel right. Someones coming._ I got up and hurriedly went to my safe spot, my room.
* * * * * * *
Closing the door behind me, I started making random movements around my room thinking about what I just heard. Ok, what were those two talking about? Who is the 'she' they keep talking about? Was it mum? Or my sibling?
Oh, right. I shook my head in disagreement. My mum did not need protection and I didn't have a sister. So then who is she? Why does she need protection? And what is she being protected from? And who found her? Also what kind of business does he have with my dad and this 'she' they keep talking about. Ughh, so frustrating!
I held my head with both hands. I sat at the edge of my bed. I was already inside my room so acting like this had no consequences. No one could tell me how wrong it was to sit with my legs spread apart while dressed in a skirt, or how girls don't act the way I just did.
I was wearing a short floral print wrap skirt with a black V neck long sleeve top. I hated wearing skirts until they made me look twice as curvy as I was. Now, It was my secret weapon.
After trying so hard to stop thinking about how sexy I was, I stood up again. If I wanted to know what was really happening I would have to go find out. I put one leg after the other till I stood in front of myself. "Okay, looking good Isa," I complimented the girl in front of me. "Now, let's go find out what's happening." She grinned mischievously at me.
I left my room and started walking toward dad's office. No more hiding, I needed to know what business this handsome man had with my dad. Could it be that he works for my so-called husband-to-be? Or maybe his brother? Well if he was his brother it wouldn't be so bad. I'm sure the genes were shared properly. At least I'd have a-
"Isabelle, I've been looking for you," I heard my dad speak from behind me. I turned back and saw my dad standing with Mr handsome.
"Hey dad, I was just coming to see you. But then I saw that you had a visitor..." I dragged on as my eyes went from my dad to Mr handsome. I watched with pleasure as his eyeballs almost left their socket. It really is the smallest things that make you happy.
"Ahh, yes," he said with a smile on his face. My father was smiling, something didn't feel right. Whenever I saw that look on his round face, something bad always happened. This was the same look he had when he told me I was getting married. "Remember I told you that we would have a visitor today." He placed his hand on Mr handsome's back.
"This is... He's the one you were talking about?" Ha, my dad, always pulling the funniest jokes. The best part was always when he says it was a joke. I loved that part so much and I almost couldn't wait to hear it again.
"Isabelle, meet Mr. Taylor," It almost seemed like my dad read the atmosphere when he introduced him because seconds later he spoke again. "Oh my apologies, since you two would be getting married soon, you should be on a first-name basis," Dad smirked and turned to face him. "Go on, Introduce yourself."
Mr handsome walked closer and held my hand, placing a kiss on it while looking straight at me. I swear could have puked if anyone else did that. But when he did it, something about how he looked at me felt good. I could have sworn we left the world for a milli second. It was just us, in an empty space. Just me and his dark, mysterious eyes. Pulling me, making me forget everything but him. "Nice to finally meet you, Miss Isabelle." He said, bringing me back.
"Nice to meet you too..." I dragged on waiting for him to complete my sentence for me. Come on dad, now would be the right time to complete your joke.
"Ryan," he stood up straight again, still holding me . He lips curved, and he moved his thumb on my hand. "You are even more beautiful than your father said you were. "He said with a low tone as he moved closer again.
Just then my dad's phone rang and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "Excuse me for a moment," he walked away and we both stayed silent until we no longer heard footsteps.
"What the heck was that for, is this the freaking nineties?" I asked with clenched teeth and snatched my hand away. "Do you just go around kissing strangers' hands like that? That's freaky."
"You talk a lot, that might be a problem when we get married," he said annoyingly, towering over me. Why did he have to be so tall, now it seemed like he was looking down on me.
"Look, I already apologized. What else do you want?" I asked confused. "I mean how else can you get revenge other than ruining my life?"
"You put ice... in my pants, and embarrassed me in the bar just because I refused to say my name and chit chat with a weird girl that served me drink. I'm sure you didn't think this would be enough. It's sad It couldn't have been someone else but there's a reason for this I assure you," he smirked and leaned in, making his lips closer to my ear. "Just wait and see how I punish you once we're married," he whispered.
That sexy voice would have done other things to me if the circumstances were different. I couldn't count how many words he said this time, surprisingly. But all I could do now was fear for my life. Cute babies? I'd have to fight to even breathe with this man. This was not the adventure I was looking for.
