Chapter 4

"How Did it happen, brother? Why did I become the exclusive engineer of Del Labiba?" I asked my brother. We are currently eating our breakfast this morning.

My brother Miko and I have a condo unit next to each other and we eat breakfast and dinner together in my condo. We eat lunch at the site or at the firm. My older brother never left my side. It's like we're twins and can't be separated from each other.

"There's a new project that Del Labiba will build and you're one of their head engineers. Their project is a hotel, Mikael," my older brother answered me as he chewed bacon.

"Why not you?" I mumbled.

Because I often work only at our firm. My older brothers couldn't make me work in another company. That's something I wonder about.

If my older brothers don't like me, they can kick me out of the firm. If they want me out of their way, it's easy to transfer me to another firm. But they didn't.

Maybe they are afraid that I might reveal the truth that I am our daddy's only illegitimate child? I just sighed. My heart aches, eh.

"How are you brothers?" I asked him again. I don't want our brothers to be angry with me again.

"I'm working on a project at this moment, Mik. There is no engineer available in our firm and only you. My brothers can't do anything, because it's a big project. Mik," he said and held my hand.

"It's time to use your wings. This is your chance to do what you want. Work with them and be happy. As of now, loosen your ties to us, brother. As long as I'm here and not I'll leave you," he said smiling.

I smiled and felt like crying at what my brother said. Oh, God, thank you for giving me brother Miko. He is all I have.

"Brother loves you, Mikael. If everyone, the world, has abandoned you, brother is here for you."

"T-Thank you, brother. I love you," I said and tears started rolling down my cheeks.

He stood up and hugged me from behind. "I love you, too Mikael. Brother loves you, always remember that."

Just like what I often wear, gray office attire. I adjusted my necktie around my neck.

Who would have thought that a woman wears men's clothes? This is what most people watch in teleserye. Woman posing as a man. But in my situation it is very difficult. I didn't like it, eh. I have to become a man so that my family will accept me that even if I hide my true identity, I am still an unwanted child.

But I'm getting used to this. It just doesn't seem to me anymore. Have you not been able to get used to it in your whole life? That the scene is just repeating itself?

"You ready, Mike?"

"Yes, brother," I answered and slung my brown leather shoulder bag over my shoulder. I am not bringing a case suit. I don't want to carry anything.

"How handsome we are, ah?" said brother and put his arm around me.

"I don't know about you," I said and we walked out of my condo unit together.

"Why did you go with me, brother? Well, I have my own car."

"I want my brother to be able to keep up even if it's just in the car," he said laughing and I just shook my head.

"Good luck, Mike!" my brother cheered me up. I laughed at his happy gesture. When did my brother not cheer me up? When was he not proud of me?

Even though we were in our own car, my brother actually went with me. He made sure I got to my new job safely.

"Thank you, brother. Be careful," I said and he gave me a tight hug.

There are many people in Del Labiba's company. If my brother and I didn't look alike, we might be mistaken for a relationship.

"My next project is in Palawan, Mik. So be careful here, okay? My brother will board the ship," he said happily. He looks like a child and his wide smile is contagious.

It is not new to me that he will be assigned to different places. My older brother has come a long way so I am proud of him too.

"Keep safe, brother."

"You too," he said. I was surprised when he kissed me on the forehead before he got into his car and drove away.

I was suddenly winded. "I just saw two brothers who are very close to each other," I heard a male voice say.

My eyebrows immediately met when I saw two men standing in front of me but they only had the same face.

Their clothes are different. "Architect Drimson Del Labiba," I said his name and he was slightly surprised.

"How did you know that I am Drimson? Not a single person knows who we are when my twin and I are together," he said. My lips were tightly folded because of what he said.

Apparently, I'm nervous in the presence of your CEO. Which is not yours, because I'm just chill-chill. Also, your twin is looking at me strangely. That's what I was going to say. But don't let it think otherwise. Then I'm not talkative.

"Instinct," I answered simply.

"You must be Engineer Mikael S. Brilliantes? I am one of your team for this project. I know it is not formal to introduce each other, especially since we are outside, but I am happy to work with one of the Brilliantes family, welcome to the DGOC, Engineer Brilliantes," he said and extended his hand which I quickly accepted.

"Same here, Architect Del Labiba," I said. It's not like his hand has no effect on me. With his twin, I feel like being electrocuted.

"And this our CEO, Crimson Del Labiba," he introduced the twin.

He's smiling, that's one of the differences between these twins. One is always smiling and the architect seems to be mad at the world. His eyebrows are always furrowed and his face often shows no sign of any emotion, but sometimes the CEO is like that.

I knew it! "Hi," he greeted me sparingly and tightened his grip on my hand. That said, eh! It's like electricity pricks my skin. Is there electricity in his hand?

The hair on my body also stood up. My chest felt like it was beating and something was flying inside my stomach. It's shocking.

I tried to take my hand back but he didn't even let go. Even tighter.

"Let go, Del Labiba," I said firmly and the corner of his lips rose.

"The feeling is mutual," he said meaningfully then let go of my hand.

"Breathe, baby. Breath," he whispered softly in my ear and I pulled away from him.

My jaw dropped!

What the... What's his problem?

"Are you gay?!" I suddenly asked.

Instead of getting angry he just gave me a seductive look. A-What... His twin who laughed out loud.

"What if I am? Can you be my boyfriend? Hmm, baby?"

What the hell?! I'm not a rude person but I can't help it. Especially if I'm surprised.

Seriously? What's wrong with him?!

"Welcome to the DGOC, Engineer Birilliantes," another team on this project greeted me.

The CEO immediately introduced me to others that I was one of their head engineers. This is the first time that I will work for another company and take note that the project that I will handle is still big.

Our project is a hotel with 30th floors and we immediately had a conference meeting. The team is complete.

"We need to visit the location, Engineer Mikael," architect Drimson told me.

"But I'm busy, right now. Brother, you go with the engineer to the location."

I don't agree and I was going to say that I could go there by myself but...

"Sure, then one more. I have to check it too," he said and gave me a meaningful smile.

Is this the attitude of the CEO? He's too creepy. He looks gay. I thought that Morry Tsumaga was his girlfriend? But why is he flirting now? Not at all ashamed of me!

"Hey, what's the meaning of this?" I curiously asked him. CEO Crimson Del Labiba.

After our conference meeting, his twin architect left, then he suddenly left me somewhere in the office.

"Our new engineer must have an office, here in our company, you know. This is gonna be your workplace, Engineer Mikael," he clearly answered. My head knotted.

"I don't need it, besides I'm often on the site," I denied.

He's right, I do need a new office here at their company. As a new engineer it is required that I be here especially since I am their head engineer.

But being with this guy? Nah, I can't stand it. Work with him? I feel like I'm just stressed here every day.

"H-Hey! Distance!" I shouted at him, when he stepped closer towards me.

His two hands were in his pockets and he had a playful smile on his lips. Like seriously?
