Chapter 3 Going Home

Getting out of the taxi, Shang Yun immediately felt a wave of heat washing over her.

Speaking of which, the temperature in Yun City was almost the same as in Ruo Hai City now. Who would have thought that on the day when the era of the apocalypse officially began, the first thing to come would be a cooling blizzard?

Putting aside all those messy thoughts, Shang Yun calmly opened the two connected warehouse doors and waited for the goods she had ordered yesterday to be delivered.

After swiping her card and seeing off all the bosses, Shang Yun took away most of the goods from the warehouse, locked the warehouse doors, and went back out to continue shopping and stockpiling.

There were still at least two or three trucks' worth of goods left in the warehouse. She would send a message to her assistant when she had some free time to have them delivered to Nan Chun County.

After that, she would have her agent donate the money earned by the original body that month directly to Nan Chun County. Perfect.

For the rest of the time, Shang Yun had a casual bite to eat in the city center and then started browsing on her tablet.

Diesel and gasoline were strictly controlled, so she only managed to buy a few barrels. She decided to figure out how to get these things after the apocalypse.

Shang Yun spent extra money on delivery for all the items. Many people knew where she lived in the mansion. After giving it some thought, she decided to leave the address at the apartment she had bought privately.

After finishing shopping, Shang Yun glanced at her watch and saw that it was already half-past five in the afternoon.

The temperature was still high at this time. Under the scorching sun, Shang Yun wiped away the sweat on her face for the umpteenth time and entered a KFC with her damp back.

Sipping on ice-cold cola and basking in the cool air from the air conditioner, she finally felt alive again when she sensed a slight chill on her back.

The hamburger and chicken legs unlocked a new taste for Shang Yun.

So, on her way to the apartment to pick up deliveries, Shang Yun opened the food delivery app and ordered KFC from all over Ruo Hai City. Then she started browsing winter supplies on the online shopping app.

It was the height of summer, and all the winter items were out of stock. She could only buy them online.

She would be heading home tomorrow, so she changed the delivery address to Yun City for the remaining items.

Down jackets, cotton pants, winter boots, hats, scarves, space heaters, warming patches, hot water bottles, non-slip devices...

With most of the supplies prepared, Shang Yun set her sights on the commonly used radiators in northern winters.

After communicating with customer service and purchasing a sufficient quantity for the three-story villa of the original body's family, she also ordered ten tons of coal and five tons of sand.

As the purchased items were delivered one by one, Shang Yun signed for each of them and then stored everything in her space.

The wristwatch space was quite convenient. All the items placed inside would be automatically categorized and placed in compartments, with each compartment displaying a label automatically, making it neat and visually pleasing.

However, what ultimately troubled Shang Yun were the items for self-defense.

She bought some pepper sprays and electric batons online. While these items were useful for dealing with one or two people catching her off guard, they would be troublesome against a larger group.

After spending a night at the apartment, Shang Yun packed up everything that could be dismantled and taken away before leaving.

After having a simple breakfast at a nearby breakfast shop, Shang Yun returned to the mansion. The items she had ordered online two days ago were also being delivered one after another.

Looking at the storage compartments in her space, which were now nearly a third full, Shang Yun couldn't help but feel a bit more at ease.

At least now, she had a sense of confidence in facing disasters.

In the afternoon, after cleaning out all the items from the apartment, Shang Yun took her documents and set off lightly. She first went to a real estate agency and then headed to the airport.

At half-past six, Shang Yun appeared in the familiar yet strange city of Yun City from her memories.

Unlike the dry heat of Ruo Hai City, Yun City was humid and hot due to its numerous lakes and rivers, causing one to sweat profusely within a short time of being outdoors.

Unlike the people in this city, most of whom wore gentle smiles, Shang Yun's eyes held only coldness.

Although the money on the original body was still enough to spend for a while, the two houses would no longer have the opportunity to be lived in. She decided to sell them online at a low price and make some quick cash.

After roughly observing the surroundings, Shang Yun used her fingerprint to unlock the door of the villa and walked in.

The hall was quiet, with only intermittent sounds of aerobics coming from the TV.

After changing her shoes and walking over, Shang Yun saw the original body's parents: Shang Bancity eating fruits and reading a book, occasionally smiling as he glanced up at his wife, Ye Rou, who was enthusiastically following along with the TV exercises.

Next to Shang Bancity was a child, also engrossed in reading. That was Shang You, the original body's younger brother.

Glancing past Ye Rou and Shang Bancity, Shang Yun's gaze finally fell on Shang You.

The memories of the original body were recalled.

Shang Yun felt a sense of familiarity with the child. As she reminisced, the child's eyes lit up when he looked up and saw her, and he immediately ran over, abandoning the book in his hand.

"Sis, you're back!"

The voice and smile that transcended time and years unlocked memories long buried in Shang Yun's mind.

It was over a month after the apocalypse when she was chased through the streets by several people for stealing a ham. Just as they were about to catch her, a child got off an unfamiliar car and helped her out.

He gave those people hundreds of dollars and then treated her to steaming hot beef noodles.

It was the most delicious meal she had ever eaten in her life. Whenever she was starving and on the verge of collapse, she could always recall the taste of that bowl of delicious noodles, drenched in spicy oil and sprinkled with chopped green onions.

Even at the moment of death, she still couldn't forget that taste.

"Yeah, I'm back."

After practicing a fake smile in front of the mirror for two days, Shang Yun's smile carried a hint of sincerity when she recognized Shang You.
