Chapter 7 The Sight

ISAIAH

I wasn't really here to enjoy the party. Just make an appearance and leave. This was more for Isabella and my mother finding a suitable Alpha for her. Lucky for me, I had planned on who I wanted to choose for my mate. Though my werewolf, Devon, would disagree with my choice. He was always growling his disapproval when I was with other women, saying I should only want to be with my mate. Apparently, my body didn't feel the same way.

Then I met Victoria some months ago. We bonded over a few video games I let her win. She was cool, but every time we got close to going further than making out, here comes Isa. Literally every time. She spent more time with Victoria than I did. Then I realized it was more than that. My sister had a crush on my girl, again. It figures we have the same taste in women because of being born around the same time. Twins were known to have the same mate. Though we were born hours apart with her being first.

"Dude, I'm drowning out here," Hunter complained, shooing off another girl wanting to dance with him.

Here comes the Playboy. He wore his signature powder blue dress shirt that never seemed to be buttoned correctly, paired with black dress pants and a black belt with a werewolf insignia.

"How would you feel if I moved to Alpha Phil's pack? The girls from his pack are beautiful and more willing."

We've been friends since we were pups, and even then, he flirted with the ladies. Trading kisses for sandbox entries as a kid. I feel for any mate destined for him. But I don't think the bond will be enough to keep him monogamous, even if it's the moon goddess herself.

"Alright, man, take your pick before I start the hunt," Hunter started taking a shot with me. "Cause, once I let loose, there won't be a girl left to conquer."

"Hunter, please keep that thing in your pants. I don't want you to cause drama with the other pack members. Let alone any Alphas."

Hunter dramatically brought his hand to his heart. "I am nothing if not a gentleman, Alpha. I promise to share myself equally with every girl who wants a ride, and I will promise to wear protection every time," he smiled.

"It truly amazes me that that THING hasn't fallen off yet."

"It comes with a warranty. Besides, I've been prepping this bad boy for this special moment. I can feel a wild night, including at least three girls, a bottle of champagne, and something spicy," Hunter said, scanning the dance floor for the next unlucky target.

I took another shot from the bar to clear my head of any image of Hunter and his conquests. Then a faint smell of apples and cinnamon passed my nose. I turned toward the scent, and my jaw dropped.

Standing next to my angry sister was Zira. She wore a drop-dead gorgeous red halter dress that matched perfectly with her black skin and hugged her curves in all the right places. Her hair was twisted into a curly afro with a sparkling ringlet around the base. Her lips were covered in something that gave them a shine. My eyes moved from her lips to a gorgeous necklace above her chest. She looked-

"Holy shit!" Hunter exclaimed behind me and grabbed my shoulders, interrupting my thoughts. "Look at Zira."

I was glad he didn't see my face as I tried to recover while shaking him off. "Stop drooling, playboy."

"Why not drool? She looks...appetizing," Hunter said, licking his lips.

Although I hated how Hunter looked at Zira, I couldn't help but agree. She looked good enough to bite. After speaking with the other Alphas, Isabella, and Zira made their way over to us with a few catcalls and howls following them. My sister looked as if she wasn't fazed by any of it, while Zira was visibly embarrassed. It was cute.

"How does our mother expect me to find a mate with these weak options?" Isabella huffed.

"Come on, Isa. There has to be someone here who fits your standards," Zira said, looking around at all the partygoers. "Or you could just tell your mother you already-"

"No!" Isabella yelled at her as we all stared at her sudden outburst. Then, finally, she collected herself and cleared her throat. "I mean, it's not like she listens to anything I say anyway."

We all stood in silence for a minute. I could see Zira staring at the people on the dance floor. I watched her glance around until her eyes connected with mine. I wanted to look away so she couldn't tell I was staring at her, but I couldn't. She quickly looked away, which I probably deserved from earlier.

"Well, if you'll excuse me, Isaiah and demon spawn," Hunter said, glaring at Isabella, who returned a glare of her own. Hunter held out his hand to Zira. "Zira, would you like to dance?"

What the hell does he think he's doing? I wondered, looking at Hunter's outstretched hand. I never wanted to bite off a hand so much in my life as I did right now. I quickly turned my gaze to her, hoping she would decline. But, of course, it would be a dick move for me to ask her right after Hunter did. Zira quickly glanced at me before looking at Hunter's outstretched hand.

"I don't know, Hunter. It's pretty crowded right now."

A part of me wanted to jump for joy as I kept a straight face. I expected Hunter to feel offended, but a smile spread across his face.

"Then I guess we'll have to dance a bit closer," Hunter said, grabbing her hand and twirling her into his embrace.

Zira laughed. "I guess we could dance a bit."

"Hunter," I warned him through the link.

"What? It's not like you were going to ask her," he said, throwing a smile my way. Well, he got me there.

"Yes," Hunter said, bringing his attention back to Zira, "we have to show off that dress. So, let's go, woman."

Hunter pulled a hesitant Zira to the dance floor. I was glad they rushed away, so they couldn't hear a growl escape my lips except for my sister.

"What was that," Isabella asked, observing me. She followed my gaze, and her eyes went wide. "Was that because of Zira?" She nearly jumped on my back. "Bro, is that the bond talking?"

"No, of course not. I'm just...worried," I lied. "Hunter can be presumptuous. That's all."

"True, but we both know that's not why. Besides, shouldn't you be growling at whoever is fawning over Victoria? Where is she anyway?"

"She wasn't feeling well, so she went upstairs," I said with annoyance as I watched Zira disappear into the crowd. So, I returned to the bar with Isabella standing right behind me. I ordered two rounds of shots, making them a double. Our bodies are made to burn off calories way faster than humans, so it took a lot to get us drunk.

"Have you checked on her?" Isabella asked, a little worried.

"I don't care right now, Isa," I almost yelled, instantly regretting it. "I'm sorry. Just a bit on edge right now."

Finishing off the next round of shots. I ordered two more and scanned the crowd until I saw Zira dancing with Hunter. This was starting to get pathetic. She was just dancing with my best friend. It's harmless. So, it shouldn't be bugging me this much. I needed to take my mind off this.

Before I contemplated more, I grabbed the first thirsty girl hanging around me and went to the dance floor. No matter how much I tried to distance myself, I still felt Zira around me. Once or twice, we would catch each other's eyes, and she would smile at me, making my cock twitch with excitement.

I ignored this feeling and focused on drinking and dancing with different girls at the party. After a while, I saw Zira drinking at the bar with Isabella. I could tell from her body language she was upset. Something must have happened. I looked around and finally found the reason. Hunter was deep throating some girl in the corner. Of course, he would bounce from girl to girl. That bastard.

"Come on, babe, how about you show me your room?" I completely forgot about the girl pawning my chest, trying to get me to kiss her.

"Sorry, sweets, but you are not the one I'm looking for," I said, leaving her on the dance floor and making a beeline for the bar. But, before I arrived, I could see Isabella yelling at Zira, who was shocked by something. Then Isabella storms off.

"Hey, everything okay," I mind-linked Isabella.

"I'm fucking fantastic. Just leave me alone!" She yelled before shutting me out.

I walked up to Zira, who was downing two more shots. "Hey, hey, slow down there, tiger."

She laughed, wiping the tears streaming down her face. Instantly, my hand wiped a tear that escaped, then caressed her cheek. "You gonna be okay?"

"I'll be fine, thank you," she whispered, leaning into my hand.

I never want to let go of her face. I stepped closer to her body while staring at her lips. She quickly registered our closeness and moved away. We stood in an awkward silence before she looked up at me.

"Why are you holding my papers hostage?" She asked me.

Her question made me take a step back. I'm not that surprised this would come up. I knew eventually, she was going to ask about them. I just wish it wasn't now. I turned away from her and ordered another shot. She followed suit. Maybe she wasn't ready for an answer. So, there's a bit of hope, at least.

I tried to imagine what could happen if I let her go. Maybe she would love it and never come back. Maybe she would find her mate, and I mine. Would that be so bad? My feelings for her would disappear as if they had never happened. I don't want that. I don't want her to disappear from my life.

"I don't want you to go," I heard myself say. She looked at me, waiting for me to continue. "It's...dangerous out there, Zi, and you could get hurt."

"Bullshit! I can take care of myself. I'm not the best warrior, but I have the best trainers. You and Isa. Besides, there's nothing really keeping me here, Alpha Isaiah. So please just give me the papers."

I sighed in frustration. She was right. There was nothing I could say to keep her here. I couldn't ask her to wait for me. Wait for me to get used to this position. It would be selfish, and a lot could happen in that time.

"Fine. Come by my office tomorrow, and we will get them signed."

She quickly gave me a hug. It felt nice and warm. I closed my arms around her, and her scent enveloped me. A light perfume tickled my nose, and I stopped myself from nuzzling the crook of her neck.

"Thank you," she said before breaking the hug and smiling at me. "Honestly, thank you. Let's toast to that."

"Let's do it," I said.

After that, the rest of the party went by fast. Since this would be our last night together, we spent the entire party together. When we moved to the dance floor, things started to heat up. The way she was moving to the beat had me hypnotized. Then, when she turned and grinded against me, I almost lost it. How could I let her leave?

I grabbed her hips and whispered, "Careful, Zi. I might lose control here."

She turned and pulled me closer till our lips were almost touching. I thought she would kiss me, but she moved to the side of my ear and whispered, "What's stopping you?" Then she lightly bit my earlobe. Yep, those shots were talking.

I excused myself to go to the bathroom a moment later. If anything was going to happen tonight, I had to ensure I was prepared. After splashing water on my face a few times, I felt some energy return. I checked my pockets and felt for the condoms.

I knew I would regret waking up in the morning, but this night was starting to feel worth it. I thought about what I would do with Zira when I got her to my room. I can feel myself getting hard with just the thought. I went back to the party, and Zira was gone. I couldn't find her anywhere. Not the dance floor, bar, or buffet table, which was her usual spot. Maybe I was pushing a little too hard.

Frustrated, I left the party, and I went to my room. I took a shower, trying to wash away my horniness. But, hell, I was too mad to take care of myself. Did I do something wrong? Why did she leave suddenly? I didn't want to leave our last night together like this.

I almost convinced myself to look for her but decided against it. I didn't want to seem eager. After the shower, I returned to my room and heard someone giggle. I looked towards my bed and couldn't believe I had missed her. Sitting up in my bed was Zira, watching me across the room.

"Zira?"

"Sorry, I didn't mean to come here, but your sister is being a bitch, so-" She stopped mid-sentence as her eyes slowly roamed up and down my body.

All my efforts to get rid of my horniness came back tenfold. Her eyes connected with mine, and I knew exactly what they were saying. I couldn't help but smile as I walked towards her.
