Chapter 5 Chapter 5 Found Brittany

Everything went well after Brittany came back, including finding a job. When the interview was about to end, a man in a suit came in, and the others all stood up and greeted him, "Mr. Flores."

Mr. Flores glanced at Jenny and said, "You've been hired. Sign the contract and familiarize yourself with the department's work today. Consider it your first day on the job."

He then turned to the Director of Human Resources and said, "Set the highest yearly salary for her."

The Director hesitated and said, "Mr. Flores, should we need..."

"This is the president's opinion." With that, Mr. Flores left like a gust of wind.

Everything was easy after that. They shook hands and began to get to know the workflow. It was a fulfilling day. After work, Jenny hurried back home and saw a warm picture.

Chuck was on a small stool cooking and heard the door open. He shouted, "Mom, wash your hands. I just finished the last dish."

Brittany was flipping through a book for children and murmured, "It's too childish and too easy. I already know it. I told you, I'm smarter than my teacher."

Jenny greeted her daughter first, "Brittany, did you behave well in kindergarten today?"

"Yes."

Then Jenny walked into the kitchen, kissed her son's cheek, and said, "Chuck, thank you for your hard work."

Chuck laughed and said, "Cooking for Mom and little sister is the happiest thing."

After Jenny and Chuck brought the food onto the table, Chuck ran to the sofa, picked up his tablet PC, and played a video on the table. The sound in the video caught Jenny's attention.

That was an interview.

"Mr. Barnes, didn't Miss Jenkins' trending topic affect your relationship?"

"It is someone who deliberately set me up." Jenny knew it was Nicole's voice without even looking. She felt disgusting and almost spat out the food she had just eaten.

"Mr. Barnes came to pick you up in person. You really have a good relationship with each other. Miss Jenkins, I wish you and Mr. Barnes a happy engagement."

...

After the video ended, Jenny said, "You must avoid that woman when you see her in the future, understand?"

Brittany's little head leaned towards the tablet PC and asked, "Oh, Chuck, this handsome uncle looks like you! Is he Mom's eldest son?"

Jenny's heart skipped a beat. She quickly lied to them, "Haven't you seen the news about country bumpkins looking like the richest person in the country? Chuck looks like someone. It's not a strange thing."

Brittany nodded and said, "That makes sense."

However, Chuck mercilessly exposed Jenny's lie and said, "You're lying. Mom's ears were red when she lied."

Jenny pretended to be calm, "Do you want to meet this couple?"

"Of course, but there's no rush. We'll meet them sooner or later." Although Chuck thought that way, he still spoke like a good boy. "It's the happiest thing to stay with you, Mom. How can a stranger on the phone be as important as Mom?"

In Chuck's heart, no one was more important than his mother.

Jenny was delighted and said, "I love my two babies the most."

Chuck's eyes sparkled with amusement as he picked up his knife and fork to eat and said casually, "But that wicked woman bullied me and wants to marry into a wealthy family. Mom, should we do something about it?"

Of course, they could. This was something that Jenny enjoyed seeing. Seeing the person who had hurt her living a happy life is an even greater injury to her. "Uh, the social status gap is too big, and I don't have the opportunity to meet them. Let's forget about it and focus on our own life."

Chuck knew that Jenny's was a lie, but he did not speak and just focused on eating.

Eric appeared openly in Weston with his team. Then he sneaked back and investigated all the girls in the kindergarten in Dixon City.

Four days later.

Wearing children's masks and sunglasses, Chuck and Brittany carried their small backpacks and got on the school bus against the sunset. The young teacher who picked up and dropped off the children held Brittany in her seat. "Brittany, what is your mother's name?"

Brittany replied in a crisp voice, "Jenny."

The teacher asked again, "What's your father's name?"

There was always a pure world in Brittany's little head. "Dad went to work with Jesus long ago, and Jesus didn't let Dad come home."

"What does your mom do?"

"My Mom is a handmade worker."

...

The school bus stopped at the front of their home, and the teacher personally sent Chuck and Brittany back. After they got home, Chuck and Brittany put down their backpacks and walked out hand in hand to buy groceries at the supermarket near their home.

Chuck and Brittany pulled the shopping basket like grown-ups, with a box of garlic, two onions, and an eggplant inside. The siblings stood in front of the poultry counter, looking at the chickens in the glass cabinet.

Suddenly, a shopping cart came rushing over, and although the force was not too strong, it almost overturned the shopping basket. "I'm sorry," said an ordinary man in casual wear.

Before Chuck left home, he changed into a blue mask and yellow glasses, looking more mischievous. "Sir, it's okay."

The man glanced at their shopping basket and asked, "Where are your parents?"

Chuck pointed casually and replied, "My Mom is over there buying yogurt."

The man asked again, "Are you attending kindergarten?"

"Yes."

"Which kindergarten do you go to?"

"Betis Kindergarten." Brittany answered in a sweet voice. "Sir, you should go shopping. You don't go to kindergarten. Why do you ask so many questions? Are all adults so curious?"

The Betis Kindergarten was a medium and high-end kindergarten in Dixon City, which cost 10,000 dollars a year.

The man said with a smile, "You're so beautiful, and your dress is stunning. Did your Mom buy it for you?"

"Of course."

"Where did you buy it?"

"Saline Mall." This was a very ordinary shopping mall, and a skirt like this was at most 40 dollars.

Chuck's eyes flashed with an inexplicable smile, and he knew the man was prying into the information about Brittany. "Sir, you have too many questions. My Mom and my uncle told me not to talk to strangers."

"Uncle?" The man was puzzled because he had just received a message that the child's mother was single.

"Yes, there is an uncle who likes my Mom very much and is about to marry her. And my Mom is pregnant with the uncle's baby, so I want to buy a chicken to make soup for her."

Chuck inherited Jenny's excellent skills of lying. He secretly thought, "Hehe, there are so many girls, the girls in Dixon City, in the state, in the country, and in the world. You can take your time finding them, Mr. Barnes."

The man smiled and said a few more words, observed the two children carefully and found nothing particular. Then he felt that they definitely weren't what Frederick was looking for, so he left.

In a blink of an eye, it was another Monday. In the conference room on the sixth floor of the Beryl Jewelers, all the high-level executives arrived. Jenny was even holding her breath, looking down at the documents. Today was her first time attending a high-level meeting.

The door was suddenly pushed open, and the sound was neither loud nor soft. Then came the sound of powerful leather shoes. Jenny subconsciously looked up and opened her mouth slightly. The surrounding air froze. It was...
