Chapter 5 5

I hugged myself while looking around, looking for Gray because he wasn't in our room yet.

We had to go to bed early because we were also leaving early tomorrow, I took the flashlight right away because there might be a snake.

I was walking around when I heard faint shouting as if someone was fighting.

I immediately followed that sound and saw two people facing each other.

Angelica and...Gray?

I approached them but they didn't notice me.

"You've changed, babe!"

Angelica shouted.

"I'm sorry." he said.

"I thought you still loved me, why did we just go on vacation when your attention is already on him?" he said crying.

"L-Let's end this, Angelica."

"W-Wow, Angelica?! Just Angelica now, I want to hear the Babe, Anj! Where is that?!" she said crying.

"I love Niah!" he said so he bent down and took a deep breath and laughed.

"I agreed to be with that woman because you only said I was, I waited for the day I came back here to the Philippines because I said I would snatch you from Zephaniah, because you are mine! You are only mine! But...what is it? ! M-You already love him..Eh, you two aren't a real couple!" it shouted and I suddenly let go of the flashlight I was holding.

They both turned to me.

"N-Niah/Z-Zeph..."

they said together as if they were surprised to see me.

I was stunned where I was standing and I didn't know what to say, Gray suddenly approached me.

"N-Niah..L-Let me explain..."

"W-what are you saying, Angelica?" My body trembled while saying that.

"N-You heard that, didn't you!" he said without looking at me so I turned to Gray.

"W-Wait, it's a mess...w-what is he saying Gray?! Explain, please." I said in a low voice.

He grabbed my hands but I just shook them.

"N-Niah..m-listen to me..m-please---"

"Y-Your marriage isn't real!"

"Angelica, what?! Stop it!" Gray shouted here.

"W-what..n-are you kidding?! That's not a good joke!" I said.

"Everything I said and you heard is true...

"T-That's enough!" Gray shouted again.

"Y-your marriage isn't real, and we just faked it to keep your fantasy going!" it shouted.

Gray immediately approached Angelica and held her tightly..

"S-stop and get out of here...I'm begging you!" I heard what Gray said so he got annoyed and left us

And besides, Gray looked at me with tears in his eyes.

"I-I'm sorry.." he said while bowing.

So I turned my back on him and was about to leave but he stopped me and locked me in his arms.

"Please, let's talk..listen to me.." he said but I kept trying to remove his arms but I failed because I was so weak.

"S-just tell me the truth...is our marriage really fake?" I asked as I just stared at the distance and he still hugged me.

I felt it nod so I closed my eyes.

"W-why?" I will ask.

"G-you're so mad at me and you managed to trick me..you've been tricking me for so long, Gray!" I said.

"I-I know I was wrong..n-I'm sorry now...please, let's fix it..." he said but I pushed him away from me with all my might.

"P-after everything...I don't want..m-go with your Angelica!" I screamed and left him..

When I went inside, I met Mommy.

"Hey, what happened?" he asked worriedly and he looked behind me.

"Gray, did you two fight?" Mom asked so I immediately entered the room and locked it.

How did they manage to fool me..Gray is my beloved man, I can forgive them for what they have become but knowing that we are not a real couple is like hard work, very hard!

I woke up early and arranged all my things..

I don't know what will happen when I leave this room, but it's up to me.

I was about to leave when I saw them in the living room and.. Gray was kneeling in front of our parents.

"What are you doing, Grayson?!" Daddy Toni asked in surprise.

"Forgive me.." it began.

"Huh? For what, what's the problem?!"

"Do you and my son have a problem?" Mom asked.

"Well, if you had a fight, apologize to him, don't tell me." said Daddy.

"I have to apologize to you.."

"What's the matter Gray, we're nervous about you."

"Our marriage is fake, Niah.." he said and I held my breath because everything that happened last night came back to me.

"What?!" Dad said in shock so I immediately came to him because there will be trouble for sure.

"What is this wife of yours saying, Zephaniah?!" Dad said angrily so I hugged him and cried.

"H-yop, Grayson! How did you do this to my son!" Dad shouted so Mom and I helped to stop Dad.

"Miguel, calm down!" Mom shouted.

"How can I calm down, huh!" Dad shouted and looked at Mommy Beatrix who was also looking angry at Gray.

Daddy Toni immediately quilted Gray.

"How could you do such a thing, Grayson! You tricked us!" it shouted.

"I-I know what I did to Niah is unforgivable, but believe me I'm not sorry because I love your daughter." he said while looking at me but I just looked away.

"I wish you had thought of that before you g-took our son!" said Mommy.

"T-that's right, please.." I said.

Dad immediately tried to get away from Gray, but I was surprised when Daddy Toni punched him in the face and left angrily.

I wanted to approach him but Mom pulled me away.

"Let's go!" he said and we went out and Dad took his car

"Miguel, let's talk first!" said Daddy Toni.

"We're not going to talk anymore, Anton! It's clear to me that your son just cheated on my son and I can't forgive that. So let's be patient." Dad said and he was getting me into the car.

It's been almost a week since my family and Gray's family found out about our fake marriage.

He's been teasing me for a week now, but no matter what he does, I won't face him.

I'm not yet ready. I can't yet.

It hurts a lot, and no matter what he explains, I don't know if I can understand it, I wish he would just say it. I hope that he will first find a way to prevent our marriage from going through, not like this.

I'm still staying with Mommy.

Mom and Dad decided to take me to Canada, one of Daddy's brothers was there, they said I was there first so that I would forget, because if I was in the Philippines, Gray would only bother me.

This is what he wanted from the very beginning when our marriage didn't work out, so why is he still pursuing it now that we already know that the marriage was fake, so that means there is nothing more to talk about.

I turned to the door. "Zeph, this is your mommy." I heard him say so I stood up and opened it.

"What is that, Mom?" I asked while sitting on my bed.

"Here's your passport to Canada, we're leaving next week." said Mommy and I fell silent.

"Don't tell me you can't do it? It's like---"

"I can do it, I'm going to Canada next week." I said here and bow down.

I can, and I should.

"You can forget him too, hija." Mom said while hugging me so I closed my eyes and stopped crying.

TOMORROW

I sat on a small bench by the Garden while picking the leaves that were about to die. They don't have Mommy because they are taking care of someone.

"I didn't know you were a gardener."

I turned to the speaker and was surprised to see that it was Gray.

"Gray? What are you doing here?" I asked in surprise.

"I want to talk to you." he said so I took a deep breath and stood up because Mom and I might suddenly come and see him.

"Get out!" I said here and turned around but he grabbed my hand.

"No, please." he said and I faced him.

"We don't have anything to talk about, and besides, shouldn't you be happy because you and Angelica are free to be together?!" I said annoyed.

"You don't mind me---"

"Not really, so go away. Please!" I said and turned my back.

"I-I love you, Niah. M-Believe me!" he said and I stopped and faced him.

I didn't say anything right away but later I started to smile.

"You-You love me?!! P-How?!! You faked our marriage, didn't you? You're going to say you love me.." I shouted and he grabbed me again but I just pulled my hand away again.

"T-believe me, I'm sorry..if only I could go back to the past I would never do that.." she said crying..I really want to believe but my mind is contradicting what my heart is saying. .

"I-I don't know, Gray! I don't know!" I said.

"Pl--Please, give me one more chance to prove to you that I love you so much..." he said and I shook my head.

"Don't..we don't have any hope anymore..besides..I'm leaving too.." I said while looking away.

"N-It's Niah." he said and I immediately wiped the tears from my cheeks.

"M-Be happy with Angelica.." I said and turned and left her, she was still talking about how much she loved me but I couldn't believe it.

He lied to me for three years! I gave him all my love but it wasn't enough for him to confess to me.. maybe I would have received it more or forgiven him if it had come from him but no, it seems that he still intends to make me believe a lie that he came up with himself , it's great..so great, so now I will never believe him no matter what happens.

Again I locked myself in the room and didn't come out all day.

I woke up to a knock from outside, so even though I had a headache from crying earlier, I stood up.

I looked at the time on the wall clock and it was past ten in the evening.

I peeked out the window and it was raining so hard outside that I couldn't see if there was anyone or not but someone was knocking so I went downstairs.

I caught up with them and Mom looked very angry, so even though they were asking me to go upstairs, I didn't follow it.

"That man really needs my apologies, why did it take so long for the police to come." Dad said and Gray suddenly came to my mind...can't he be the one who knocked earlier.

"M-Ma is Gray po---"

"Come up Zephaniah!" It ordered me but I didn't follow it.. I went out and even though I heard their mother yelling at me, I approached Gray who was wet from the rain and still had a wound on his face.

"G-Graaay.." I exclaimed and immediately helped him stand up..

I first let him enter the garden and ordered Manang to get a towel.

"You're spoiled, aren't you?!" I shouted here but he just looked at me.

"I-I told you I love you Niah..I'm ready to wait outside no matter what happens.." he said shivering from the cold.

I saw Dad's angry face approaching us, he pulled me away from Gray.

"Grayson, leave while I'm still resting because that might not be all you've got, the police are coming, so leave." Dad said but just shook his head.

"I-I'm not leaving here Dad...I want Niah and I to get along..please.." she said and Dad punched her again so I intervened...

"T-That's right Dad, please.." I said hugging it...

"It's too thick of a face to call me Daddy, you're not my daughter's husband, are you! And you think that's all..when you say sorry, it's over." Dad said and hugged me because he might just hurt Gray again.

"U-leave, please..." I begged and pulled Dad in..

When we entered, Dad immediately called Mom..

"Put your stuff away, Zephaniah!" Dad said as he called someone on his cell phone.

"Dad??!" my manners

"Do what I say, faster!" Dad shouted so Mom pulled me..

Mom helped me organize my things.

"M-Mom...am I really leaving now?" I asked and he touched both of my cheeks.

"This is for your own good, son." Mom said while kissing my head, I just started crying..

When we arrived at the airport, Mom immediately grabbed my arm.

"Your Aunt Mayette is in Canada. So, don't worry because your cousins you haven't seen for a long time are also there." Mom said but I was still bowing while holding my flight ticket.

"Everything will be okay..and when you know it's okay, come back here." Mom said and I nodded and hugged her.

When I heard that, I started crying..

"Bye baby.." Mom said to me while kissing my forehead repeatedly.

"Be careful don.." he said and I nodded and grabbed my suitcase and walked away.
