Chapter 4 Your fault

Next Day...

Life goes on as it should be. Everyone in my house ignored my existence as if I never existed in their life. After losing my dream, my thoughts for my sister's Fiancé turns sore. But I couldn't hate him.

" Young Miss went abroad to shop. I heard her Fiancé will join her once his business is done!"

I heard the servants talking themselves in the garden. Everyone is busy preparing for the wedding. They're discussing my sister's choice to keep the decoration theme White and Pink.

Meanwhile, my life is filled with darkness. The emptiness doesn't leave me. I should just leave. It would be better for me.

As I thought, I packed my bags to leave. Staying alone for a while will help me to think rationally.

Anyway, as I walk downstairs with my luggage, the vibration of my phone in my purse gets my attention. To be honest, I don't have any wish to talk to anyone. Not even with my bestie. I would rather give a little bit of time to myself to recover.

However, did I ever know that ignoring the call would bring the worst nightmares of my life?

Since I need to take the plane to go to another state where I have my apartment, I don't have any reason to take out my phone and use it. So, all the time, I try to sleep as I couldn't able to get some last night.

Six hours later...

I slept on the plane and in the cab I hired from the Airport. After reaching my apartment with a heavy heart and exhausted body. I decided to take another long nap. Since I take antibiotics. Sleeping is a must-have for me.

But...

My sleep gets interrupted by another call. And this time, I forced myself to receive the call. However, when I look at the phone screen, my eyes widen with a loud thump in my chest. It's no one but my mother. She was supposed to be with my sister. Why would she call me right now?

" Yes!" Unwilling, I respond, not expecting to listen to something heartbreaking.

" Juliette! Did Odette call you? Didn't she? She is missing. I can't find her!" My Mom's voice cracks as she sobs.

" What do you mean by missing? She was with you, Mother" Anxious, I stand up, and the anger on them fades away into thin air.

" I don't know. She was with me. But a second later, she was nowhere to be found. I don't know. What to do? She said she would call you. Did she call you?"

" No. I -"

I realize that there are lots of missed calls on my phone that I ignored. I immediately take my phone away from my ears and glance at the screen.

And...

My heart drops with terror. More than twenty Missed calls from my sister's number and ten messages...

" Please save Me. Someone kidnapped me. Please save me!"

My knees reach the floor. Those messages horrify me once I read them one after one. What shocked me more was that She sent me a location. To my surprise, the location isn't somewhere abroad but in our country.

"Julie!!! Response! Did she call you? Do you know something?"

My tears drop, covering my mouth, I nod, " Yes. She called me in the morning. But I couldn't take it. She is kidnapped, Mom. She is Kidnapped!!"

I cry, and guilt leaps into my throat as I sob.

"What? Did you miss them? How could you do that? What should we do now?" My mother screams,

" I am sorry. I really didn't know. I am sorry!" I whisper. "She sent me a location, Mom. We can find her."

" What?" My mother gasps, " Where is she? Send me the location. I will send it to William! Right now!"

I keep listening to my mother's heartbreaking sob, hopelessly. Guilty is consuming me. Can't stop blaming myself for ignoring those calls. I don't know how she is now. I don't know what she is doing right now. I hope she is fine. My sister should be fine.

After sending the location to my Mom, I tried to access the link again. I need to call the local police there to take action as soon as possible so that we can save her. However this time, it is rejected. I can't access the link anymore.

Anxiously, I wait for my mother's next call. If she can inform something further. The night has fallen upon the world, I can't get out of the city like this. Nonetheless, the fear doesn't leave me. No matter what, I love my family despite everything.

We grew up together. I can't see my sister being in danger.

After waiting for two hours, and calling my mother lots of times, I didn't get a single piece of information. My mother didn't call me once after that. As the night falls deeper, my eyes, exhausted, shut themselves.

However, I was startled awake when the phone chirped on the table, finding the call was from no one but my sister.

" Odette! Where are you? Are you okay? Why didn't you take the calls and -?"

" So you are Juliette!"

My eyes widen finding the voice oddly familiar but doesn't belong to Odette.

" Mr. Fernandez?! Did you find Odette? Where is she? How is she?" I asked. My heart is exploding.

" Why didn't you receive the phone calls?" His cold voice echoes my eardrum.

" I..."

" Did you hate her that much that you didn't care to receive her single phone call? Why did you do it? Why did you kill my love of life?"

At this moment, his voice cracks in anger, pain and suffocation. But what strikes more right in my heart is...

He said I killed my sister...

" Wh-What are you talking about?" My body shrinks into the deepest despair. " Where is Odette? Mr. Fernandez! Don't Joke. I know I ignored her calls but, It was not intentional. I -"

" Shut the fuck up! Don't make a noise. Don't call her name with this fucking mouth." He roars...

" Because of you, she is dead. She called you at the last moment. Why did she call you, not me? She was hurt by you. Still, she trusted you more than me and begged you to save her. But... I will never forgive you. I will destroy your life!"

Time seems to have stopped. The heart skips a beat. I don't know how to feel. Odette is no more! My sister is no more. Is it possible? No way.

She can't die...

" I... I think this is not right. She... She is fine. Please search for her. Please... I am sorry. I... I didn't know... I am sorry!"

" I will never forgive you. Don't come to her funeral. Don't dare to appear with that face in front of us. You aren't allowed."

His words throw me off. Am I really the reason for her death?
