Chapter 4 Best friend

Lilian's place consisted of a small sitting room branching off into the kitchen and a moderate bedroom with a tiny bathroom and toilet.

After Lilian got her own spot, she made sure to decorate it to her taste, even though her resources weren't that great. So the house was homely.

Lilian had just finished making dinner when she heard a knock at the door. She hurriedly dropped the spoon she was using to dish the food and went to open the door.

Upon opening the door, Tonia screamed and jumped into her arms, nearly causing her to fall.

"Oh, get off me. You are always hyper active. What did you eat again before coming here"

"Oh nothing. Just some gummy boosters" at this reply, they both Burst into laughter.

" Oh you are never going to change Tonia " Lilian locks the door as Tonia walks to the dinning table and immediately dishes out some of the food for herself .

" absolutely not. And besides if I change, who is going to bring you out of your sad and boring life"

" and what exactly do you mean by that? I will have you know that I am not sad and I am definitely not boring"

" Boo hoo, says the girl who refuses to loosen up and go to the night club with me. Very soon I am going to dump you on your ass and make a new friend who will go clubbing with me"

" you are allowed to" Lilian had no intention of letting it out that she had gone clubbing. But, based on Tonia's expression and words, she must have let it out somehow. She groaned, knowing what was coming next .

" Oh..." Tonia pauses when she sees the look in Lilian eyes. " no you didn't, you absolutely did not go to a club without me"

Lilain, seeing the look in her friends eyes carefully edges around the dinning table away from her "it wasn't planned okay, it just happened "

As Lilian gets ready to make a move for it, Tonia's next words stop her "if you don't want me to tell your mum about your last boyfriend, then you had better stay right there"

" hey, your last boyfriend was worst than mine"

" Don't care, besides I'm not the one with parents who think sex comes only after marriage "

"Fine, what do you want"

Tonia smiles sinfully and takes a sit " tell me everything that happened and don't leave out anything "

Lilian takes a sit while giving Tonia the stink eye. " I was absolutely going to tell you everything without you threatening me"

" I know . Like I said, I need a little drama in your life" she shrugs " I can put it. So I do it "

" you are just evil"

"I accept" this she says around o spoonful of lilian's food.

"heartless" lilain takes the pot out of Tonia's reach as you tries to go for a second helping.

" you love it darling "

" one of these days, I am going to find out who feels your head with lies about you being great "

" You do know stalling for time isn't going to make me forget that story

Lilian signs, " one might only hope "

Tonia nods her head. "true, now spill"

Lilian knowing Tonia wasn't going to let go of this, finally decided to just tell her. She told him about the one night stand she had. At this Tonia was so shocked that she screamed

"WHAT"? Tonia nearly flies off her chair.

It wasn't that lilian was a virgin. It was more the fact that lilainwas the type of girl to never give strangers the time of her day much less sleep with one . Lilian was always uncomfortable around people she wasn't familiar with . Wanting to explain herself, she simply said he had been handsome and charming and she had been hurting at that point in time.

Lilian goes on to say she wasn't a virgin and she just decided to have a bit of fun.

" You might as well be. But, that is besides the point. Really, what happened"

" Well, we were both drunk and damn, Tonia, he was damn good. I still can't get him out of my head"

"damn girl, you have got it bad, really bad. He was that good"?

" definitely "

" I'm so envious of you right now. How come I never find men like that when I go to the club"?

Laughing so hysterically that she almost falls off from her chair " you can't be serious right now"

Signs deeply " I am. But, that is besides the point. So, what is this mysterious man's name?"

Lilian fidgety sheepishly " huh, I kind of never asked for his name before we jumped into bed and when I worked up this morning, I huh.... I freaked out and left before he woke up"

Tonia adjusts in her seat " alright, I think I understand not asking for his name , before jumping his bones, but leaving without asking for his name after jumping his bone, that I do not understand"

" I just didn't want to be there when he woke up"

Exasperated " why ever the hell not? You should have woken him up and then went ahead to jump his bones again and afterward asked for his number"

" Tonia, that would have been too embarrassing "

Palming her face " like I said, almost a virgin"

" leave it be, what's done is done, and I won't ever see him again"

"if you say so..... so.... What really a happened today that put you in a bad mood"

" I got fired"

"WHAT"

Shock at Tonia's second scream " will you stop screaming like that. You scared the hell out of me"

" Sorry. So that old, ugly, misshapen man finally found a way to fire you? Tonia had never really much liked the principal of the school that lilian taught out. Although that might of been because he had once tried to come unto Tonia when she had gone to visit lilian at school one day.

Lilain tells Tonia that she gave him an opportunity by going late to school again.

Tonia let out a huge dramatic sign, thinking of all the many times that Lilian had gotten late to her job..... well previous job.

" so what are you gonna do? Have you started looking for another job" Tonia asks

" Well I already found 3, I need your help to choose one"

asking Tonia for help did not come easily to lilian and Tonia knows this. So she was always glad when lilian came to her for help. Because it meant lilian loved and trusted her to have her back at all times.

"find then let's have it" Tonia says. Lilian immediately tells her all about the three jobs. The first one about being a receptionist in a clothing store was immediately shut down by Tonia. Lilian had always had a gift for clothes making and designing. But, Tonia had no wishes for lilian to limit herself and she knew that if Lilian worked as a receptionist that is exactly what would happen .

Lilian went ahead to talk about the live in maid job. But, this idea too was immediately shut down by Tonia. Her reason being lilian's inability to be comfortable around people she wasn't familiar with. The third job seemed to be the charm.

" A secretary to the CEO of a large company and the pay is amazing. Plus, it's closer to the train station than the others and pls, think about this one before shutting it down. I need the money"

" What company are we talking about?

" I think the name of the company starts with an E. Huh.... I think it's Ethan and co fashion industries"

" you are definitely taking that job. When is the interview "

" the day after tomorrow. You shut the previous two down."

" because they weren't you. And besides you can always apply for another position in the company later on." Tonia says. Thinking about the fact that this company in question was a fashion industry and was known for always giving its employees the benefit of the doubt all times. Numerous great fashion designers had come from Ethan and co fashion industries You say the interview is in two days " lilian nods an affirmative yes

"good. before then we will go shopping, you need good clothes There will be others trying to get that job. So, at least you must look the part"

" You are forgetting one thing. Smart pants"

Genuinely perplexed " And what is that"?

" I am jobless, behind on my rent and therefore penniless"

" and you are forgetting one thing. I am your best friend who still has a high paying job and therefore has a lot of money. Money that I want to spend on you.

Feeling grateful. But not wanting to take the offered help, she immediately shakes her head " no Tonia, you always spend on me, I can't. Not anymore"

" What ever the hell are you talking about? I am investing in you. You have talent and passion love. I know one day you are going to make it big. This is my way of investing in that future"

"Tonia........ you know that us not true. I am not that amazing. I am just an average girl with average wishes and dreams"

" and whose fault is that?

Lilian knew better than to argue with Tonia once she had made up her mind. " fine. I can't fight with you and you know it. But I also can't take this from you without giving something back in return. Not this time".

" fine. you are going to pay me in some other way then.

" and what way is that?

" after our shopping. We are going clubbing and I don't want to hear another word about it. It is final"
