Chapter 3 3

"What does that even mean?" In a slightly annoyed tone, Lucas inquired. It dawned on me that I had just interrupted him and his buddies, but it didn't disturb me as much as it normally would have. I was still high on the sensation of being back home; it was unlike any other high I had experienced in my entire life.

"God, did you go to school and pay any attention at all? That's quite standard French. I cracked a grin.

"It means 'you do you'," remarked Lyra. In spite of the fact that she had only spoken a few words, I immediately recognized that she was the most intelligent member of the group.

What's that? You just said 'little brother'? That you are older? Someone with dark hair uttered the name Thomas. He appeared to be disoriented.

"You are, like, very small. What is your age, exactly? Isaac was responded to by the blonde. As a result of his statements, I was quite taken aback because I had never before been referred to as "tiny."

I mean, he wasn't wrong; I was around 100 pounds and 5 feet and four inches tall.

"Have you not been hearing? The French proverb "the good things come in small packages" translates to "the good things come in small packages." I consumed an additional gulp of vodka.

"Please explain why you continue to speak in French. What exactly is the point?" Lucas inquired about it.

"I don't know, habit, I guess." I cracked a grin.

"So, how old are you?" asked Oliver.

"I am 17." The cap was replaced after I took another gulp from the bottle and then screwed it back on.

"You have a tattoo?" Lyra said as she looked at the blooms that were growing on the side of my leg.

A smile spread across my face as I looked down and ran my fingers down the tattoo.

"Do you not have a job that you need to go to? Rather than causing me and my friends any inconvenience," remarked Lucas.

"I do, actually, so I will see you all later." After a smirk, I jumped down from the counter and walked away. After placing the vodka back in the cabinet, I headed in the opposite direction of the group.

When I reached the top of the stairs, I halted my ascent so that I could pay attention to what was being said. I then exited the room and continued up the stairs.

"She's... nice?" It was the voice of the other girl, the one that I had not even heard before.

"You have a sister, and you didn't tell us?" remarked Isaac.

Due to the fact that their voices have distinct tones that distinguish each individual, it is simple to identify them.

Due to the fact that she had been away for around four years, I was unaware that she would be returning. She had been attending a boarding school in France. Ever since then, I haven't seen her." When I heard Lucas's voice, it sounded like he was crying; I had no clue that he missed me so much.

"Do you think she knows about the supernatural?" I learned as close to the edge of the stairs as I could, Thomas stated in a voice that was noticeably more subdued than usual.

"She doesn't smell supernatural, and she didn't mention our scents," remarked Oliver.

"I guess we'll just have to keep an eye on her," remarked Lyra.

"Not a hard job." An obvious smirk could be heard in Isaac's voice as he spoke.

My secret will only be secure for a short time, especially considering that there are seven or more pairs of eyes on my back.

I went to my room and changed into some clothing by going into my room. After I had finished brushing my teeth and my hair in the bathroom, I went back downstairs to retrieve my keys, my purse, and my phone, which I had already charged, before going downstairs. After retrieving my bag and coat from the coat rack, I made my way back into the kitchen, where everyone was still conversing, but they interrupted their conversation as soon as they heard my name.

"Don't let me interrupt whatever riveting conversation you were having." After rolling my eyes, I knelt down to take a look inside the refrigerator. An apple was extracted from its container, and I stuffed it into my mouth while using my teeth to keep it in place. Putting my belongings in my backpack, I made my way to the entrance of the building.

"Bye, Li, I'll be back soon." As I was coming out of the house, I yelled.

"Bye." He responded with a shout.

It's Lucas.

I told them anything about Cahlia that was even marginally relevant to the conversation because she was new and no one knew her. We continued talking around the island for a bit, predominantly about Cahlia, because she was new and no one knew her. When I was talking about her behind her back, I did have the impression that I was betraying her in some respects.

We made our way over to the sofas and continued to talk for a few more hours. This was the typical weekend for us; we would hang out and talk about any new feelings of the supernatural, and if there wasn't much to talk about, we would end up simply watching a movie or something. Due to the fact that no one's parents appreciated having such a large number of teens over on the weekend, we always switched which house we hung out at. On the other hand, we would spend most of our weekends at my house because my mother was never there.

"Is Cahlia coming to our high school?" Malia inquired.

"Yeah, she'll be in your year. Obviously, she had a meeting with someone when she first went in." I stated that.

"Should we keep an eye on her?" asked Oliver.

"Yeah, I need to make sure she's ok. She has suffered quite a lot, and I just want to make sure she's alright, I guess."

"Are we sure she isn't supernatural?" Stylized inquired.

If that were the case, wouldn't she bring up the smells herself? Would you be able to detect her scent? Lyra had a question.

It is possible. I can't think of a way to inform her without directly telling her, and by that, I mean that all of your parents are already aware of it. I am obligated to inform her, but I am at a loss for words. When I spoke to Hayden, I behaved in the most inept and unexpected manner."

"Maybe we can ease into it?" As recommended by Thomas.

"I guess it's not really an easy thing to say," remarked Lyra.

"My mom didn't speak to me for days," remarked Oliver.

"Same with my dad," as Thomas put it.

"Thanks, guys, that really helps." I gave a sigh of relief.

"If it helps, I never knew my parents." It was Malia's shrug.

"Yeah, not really."

Despite the fact that we continued to discuss the plans to tell Cahlia, we were unable to come up with a solution that was sufficiently convincing. As a result of the girls' departure, we were left to our own devices because they had made plans to go shopping in town. Considering that Cahlia wouldn't be back for at least an hour, we decided to grab the remaining vodka and just sit and speak till she came back.
