**THE MEETING**
"Hi, good morning. I would like a cup of coffee and a croissant, please," Sophia said in a sleepy tone. *Being an artist ain't an easy thing*, she thought silently while patiently waiting for her order at the counter. Once she received it, she went to search for an empty chair. Luckily for her, she found one just by the window. She sat down, enjoying her meal, *well, not that heavenly, but who cares? I'm starving*, having not eaten throughout yesterday because of the important project she was working on. Any meal right now would taste heavenly to Sophia.
While eating, Sophia felt it again, the feeling that she was being watched. She looked around, trying to see if anyone was staring at her, but as usual, she didn't see anyone. She decided not to think too much about it and faced her delicious meal. Once she was done, she left a tip for the waiter because she enjoyed the service rendered.
Once she got back to her apartment, she shouted, "I'm home!!" But nobody replied because she was an orphan living alone. She just liked to pretend like she had someone waiting for her. She kicked off her shoes and walked to her bedroom to have her bath. Once done, she dried her body and put on her clothes, then walked to the living room to watch a movie since she didn't have anything else to do. On her way in, she saw a note on the floor. She was scared but decided to pick it up. It just read, "our queen." She was confused and frustrated because she was no queen, and she was contemplating whether or not to call the police because the note was strange. Then she decided against it, but it didn't leave her mind. She sat down on her sofa, thinking about the note, when she heard the doorbell. She was startled because she was so deep in thought. She walked to the door and peeped through it to find it's her ex-boyfriend, Matt. She groaned and opened the door.
"What do you want, Matt?" she asked in a calm and authoritative voice. Matt had always hated the fact that she was always calm, no matter the situation, but he said softly, "I'm here to get you back."
"Who, me?" she chuckled, then smiled slowly at him. "If you don't leave right now, I'm gonna call the cops." Then she shut the door in his face and stormed into her living room, sitting down on her couch.
Matt was her ex-boyfriend she met way back in college. She didn't plan on dating anyone throughout college, but Matt was persistent, so she eventually agreed to be his girlfriend. We graduated together - I with an art degree, he with an insurance degree. After graduation, he suggested we move in together. I wasn't ready yet, so I told him no. Then, for the first time ever, he raised his voice at me. I remember it so vividly...
"Sorry, I can't move in with you. I'm not ready for it yet," I said to him while we were talking in his living room. "What do you mean you're not ready, Sophia? We've been dating for more than four years now, and now you're saying this," he shouted aggressively at me. I was at a loss for words because I knew he was right, but I didn't want to live with him, so I said, "Let's talk later when you're calm," then I left his apartment for mine.
The following day, when I went over to his place, I wanted to surprise him because of the argument we had yesterday, so I sneaked into his apartment without knocking, as I had a key. I found him making out with a girl on his bed. I just cleared my throat. When he heard it, he looked up surprised. "Sophia, it's not what it looks like," he said. I stared at him, and my heart broke because this was the man I wanted to spend my life with... I just left. He tried calling me back, but I didn't reply. I just ran and ran and ran until I crashed into someone. I didn't see the person, but I apologized and continued running until I got to my apartment, then I cried myself to sleep.
