Chapter 5 Because of her

"Gianna -"Amberlynn called her after noticing the sudden change in her mood.

"Is anything the matter?"She asked as they headed for Gianna's car.

"No--No"Gianna stuttered.

"Why do I feel like you are trying to hide something away from me?"Amberlynn persisted with a feeling which kept creeping up in her.

"It's not really -"A call disrupted the conversation. It was Amberlynn's phone ringing.

She quickly answered the call while Gianna drove off.

"Will be there in five minutes"Amberlynn hung up with a small chuckle.

It was Mandy on the phone. Amberlynn glanced at Gianna who had her eyes fixed on the road. She still felt Gianna was trying to hide something from her but she couldn't place her fingers on what it was..

Soon,they drove into the school's garage. Mandy and Sally ran to them as soon as they stepped out.

Amberlynn felt a strange feeling as she walked out. Some of the students who saw her began to mutter some words and stare at her.

She became uncomfortable with the stares and wanted to sped off to her class but put on a brave face.

She suddenly felt cold and rubbed her arms.

"Amberlynn, Let's go in"Sally said and held her arms.

"Amber,Are you going to be okay?"Mandy asked as she turned to leave.

Yes,She wanted someone to ask her if she would be okay. She desperately needed someone to ask her that.

"Yeah,I will be okay"Amberlynn replied putting up a brave face even though she wanted to break down in tears.

Mandy gave a short smile to her as they made their way into the school.

Low mutterings which later rose to loud chatters filled the hallway. Amberlynn felt insecured. She felt as though they were all talking about her.

"You are so gullible and daft Amber. You were so blinded by love that you could never see the truth. I never loved you and will never because you are not my league".

Time stopped as her feet sunk into the ground unable to move again. She felt wounds in her being opened again.

That was Ashton's voice. It was coming from the PA.

"Ashton,What changed? How am I suddenly not in your league?".

"You are cheap. Yes, A cheap girl that can easily open up her legs. You are so shameless and I can never take you for my second side chic. I bet your mom would be hiding her head in shame wherever she is ".

Amberlynn found it difficult to breathe when he mentioned her mother. She felt there was no need to drag her mother into this. She felt open as even her friends gasped loudly maybe they didn't hear him clearly the other day.

She watched their faces as disappointment spread across their faces. Gianna was deeply disappointed as she saw her shaking her head.

Yes,Ashton said those words to her. She could remember how the words left his mouth with ease. The hate and disgust on his face as he said those words made her heart ache the more.

"Amber, What's going on?"Gianna asked and held her arms.

"I hope it is not what I am thinking -"Gianna asked as Amberlynn looked at her with eyes filled with tears.

Someone gave a short chuckle and walked to Amberlynn and her friends.

"Ashton's first choice or shameless slut"Juanita West sneered with her hands crossed.

"I always knew that you were shameless. You have always been shameless -"Juanita said as her voice trailed off to laughter.

"To think that you can get into Ashton's heart by throwing yourself to him - You are so foolish -".

"Hey,Juan watch your tone. You have no right to speak to her in such manner "Sally barked furiously.

"And why is that so? She is no longer a princess but now a–"Juanita said throwing her head forward with her fingers on her lips.

"Pauper"Brittany,one of the girls with her chirped in and everyone laughed loudly.

"Well, this pauper here is much better than you"Mandy retorted.

Amberlynn burst in tears seeing her friends standing for her.

"In what ways actually?"Juanita asked with a smirk.

"At least She doesn't go around throwing herself to men"Gianna said visibly angry.

"Well,She just gave herself stupidly to someone who never wanted her. So how do you explain that? Juanita asked.

"Come on,We are in same league here girl but I am far more better than you"Juanita said and stormed off.

The crowd of students which gathered began to disperse.

Amberlynn broke down finally and fell on Sally's arms.

"It's alright now Amber"Sally consoled and stroked her head.

"It's all in the past now. Ashton is now a past now"Mandy added.

Lectures were boring to Amberlynn. Everyone now knew she was cheap,Stupid and gullible just as Ashton said.

The alarm went off for lunchtime. Sally gave her shoulders a little squeeze with a sweet reassuring smile on her face.

"It's fine now Amber"She muttered softly. Amberlynn returned with a weak smile.

"It's time for Lunch"Gianna announced and rose up.

"Let's grab some hamburger"Mandy chirped and stretched.

They walked out of the class together. Looking ahead, Amberlynn beheld a sight that made her heart break the more.

Sitting on Ashton's legs was Juanita West with a coy smile.

Juanita moved her hands tenderly on Ashton's chest. His hands were wrapped around her waist as she leaned in closer to him.

She placed her lips on Ashton as they made low moaning sounds.

Amberlynn's lips quaver and shook. Her feet seemed weak to carry her body.

"A–A–Ashton"She stuttered and walked slowly towards them. Juanita pulled away from the short steamy kiss.

Her lips were red and swollen,A smirk appeared on her face when she saw Amberlynn.

"Ashton-"Amberlynn called again lowly.

"Oh,there she is"Ashton teased and rose up with Juanita's hand wrapped around his chest.

"What do you want?"Ashton questioned as he gave Juanita a peck on her forehead.

"Was it because of her?"Amberlynn asked with a pale face.

"Amberlynn"Mandy called and went back to her. She held her arms as She traced her gaze to Ashton and Juanita.

"Because of who?"Ashton asked as though he didn't hear her the first time.

"Ashton,Did you leave me because of her?"Amberlynn asked as tears were gently stroding down her eyes.

"I didn't love you Amberlynn. The earlier you get that into your thick skull,the better for you"Ashton half yelled. Juanita stroked his hair and planted a kiss on his cheek.

"All those promises?? Were the all fake?"Amberlynn asked still in a bewildered state.

"I never meant any of those words I said to you"Ashton said and took few steps towards her.

"A little tip for you never trust so much on people's words. They are just words ; so don't believe them"Ashton glared and walked away.

Amberlynn drew a sharp breath as she staggered backwards. Thankfully, Gianna and Sally were right behind her.

"Poor Little lover girl "Juanita teased with a click of her tongue. A smirk on her face as she knowingly bumped her shoulders into Amberlynn's.

"Amber,Stop doing this"Gianna said calmly while staring at Juanita's retreating figure. If looks could kill, Juanita would have been dead long ago.

"I loved him- I wanted us to stay together forever "Amberlynn whimpered tearily.

"Please,Amberlynn just move on and let this pass".

Amberlynn became calm after some consolation from her friends.

"Let's get lunch"Sally said with a smile. Amberlynn sniffed in as they walked out together.

They had lunch and Amberlynn tried to ignore Ashton and his new catch although they always threw herself before her.
