Chapter 4 Four

" Long time no see princess," Justin stood by the door grinning at me. What was he here for? My blood began to boil just remembering what I've been through because of him and now he was back here. My mind quickly went to the kids, could he have found out and is now here to take them from me? No, I wouldn't let that happen! I screamed in my head. My kids were my everything and someone like Justin didn't deserve them. " Are you just going to let me stand here or are you going to let me come in?" his words snapped me out of my thoughts.

" What do you think you are doing here?" I asked audaciously. What right did he think he has?

" What happened Isa? You don't seem to miss me one bit" he attempted to caress my face, I quickly dodged his touch. I wouldn't let his words get to me, he had an ulterior motive and I knew.

" Justin I don't have time for your games, why are you here?" I went straight to the point.

" I can't believe you've turned this cold towards me," he said with a hint of sadness in his voice. I couldn't help but be rude to him, after all, he had never come looking for me in the past four years.

" Justin if you don't tell me why you are here, I'm going to shut the door against you," I threatened.

" Fine, it's simple. I'm here for my wife and children," he declared.

" Excuse me?"

" I'm here for my wife and children," he repeated. Was he referring to me as his wife?

" What?" I scoffed. " Since when was I your wife?" I said in detest.

" Since we signed the contract five years ago," he's confidence annoyed me. Even after all these years, he was still as arrogant and domineering as ever.

" Let me remind you that we are no longer married and what makes you think we had kids together?" I needed to confirm if he was just bluffing. He might as well be saying all this to get the true information from me but then again why would he need to come all the way here to ask for a confirmation?

" Should I remind you of the sweaty nights we had together?" a smirk creeped out by the corner of his mouth.

" Pervert," I accused.

" It doesn't matter how I found out but I eventually did, so now I'm here for you and the kids," he said again.

" And you think everything will just go your way because you want it to?" I questioned.

" No, but I do want you to give me the opportunity to make things right," his eyes glistened with sincerity.

" How about your wife?" I didn't why I asked that but I really wanted to know what was happening here.

" She's standing in front of me,"

" Justin, do I look like I'm joking here? I'm being serious here," I reminded him. What was his problem? Did he think everything was just fun? " I still remember that you dumped me for your first love and everyone heard the news of your wedding, so where is she? And why isn't she here with you?" I folded my arms.

" We're no longer together," he sighed.

" Oh really?" I mocked.

" But I'm not here to talk about her, I'm here because of you and our children," his eyes pleaded.

" So now that your first love abandoned you most likely, you come running back huh?" I scoffed. " I'm sorry Justin but I don't need you in my life and I would advise you go back to your wife," I held on to the door and attempted to shut it but he stopped it with his sturdy arm.

" Technically speaking, you're still my wife. I didn't marry my first love by the way," he corrected.

" Thank you for the correction but it seems you have your logic all messed up. How does not marrying your first love make me your wife automatically?" Did he hit his head on a poll before getting here? " I'll remind you that you threw our papers in front of me on a faithful morning and told me to go after signing it," just remembering the pain of rejection all those years ago made my chest burn with pain. I had foolishly loved him when I was quite aware that it was just a contract marriage.

He pulled out a piece of neatly folded paper and placed it in front of my face, it was a marriage certificate but something was amiss, my name was on it as his spouse. What was going on? Didn't we get divorced a long time ago? Was it possible for someone to get marriage certificates without the other party present as long as money was involved? Thoughts spiralled through my head as I tried hard to fathom what was before my eyes.

" We ended the contract, yes but we never got divorced," his words echoed and pierced deep through my chest. So all this while we were never divorced?

" So I still have my rights over you and it's only right if I perform my duties as a father and a husband," he said shamelessly.

I looked at my feet quietly still dazed by the news, " You must think that you have the right to dump and pick anyone up anytime you like. You treated me like a joke and now you are here boldly telling me to let you back into my life, how low could you possibly get?!" I screamed at him but immediately lowered my tone, I didn't want to wake the twins.

" I'm really sorry, Isa. And I never once treated your love for me as a joke," he looked away with guilt in his eyes.

" You didn't treat my love as a joke? Are you for real Justin? You abandoned me when I started to think you actually loved me. To you, I was nothing more than a bed warmer and an excuse to your parents," tears had began to fall from my eyes, rolling down my cheeks. I was tired of holding my hurt in, how could he abandon me only to come back later?

" I actually started having feelings for you but..."

" But you still ended up discarding me like I was nothing," I clutched on to my chest.

" That's why I'm here to make things right, I want to make it up to you," he begged.

" I'm sorry Justin, I and my kids have faired very well without you and I assure you, we don't need you in our lives. You don't deserve to be my kids' dad after you abandoned them and me, the way you did. Goodbye," I said finally slamming the door shut against him. I rested my back against the front door and slid to the ground, crouching as I cried. I felt bad to accuse him of abandoning his children since he really wasn't aware of their birth but still, what are the odds he wouldn't have done so then? Why did he have to suddenly appear in my life when I had finally decided to move on?

I cried my heart out that night even though I knew I would end up with puffy eyes
