Chapter 5 If crazy had a first name

After jotting down my notes for both Britney and Alicia, I turn my phone back on to check my messages. Four text messages from Jaxon, and three missed calls, two from Jaxon and one from Ashlon. I opened the text messages and they read:

Jaxon- 9:00 "Hey what's going on with you?"

Jaxon- 9:38 "You just gone ignore me or what?"

Jaxon- 9:55 "You sending me to voicemail too? What's the deal Amber?"

Jaxon- 10:15 "Damn like that ma? Ok I feel you bruh."

I text Jaxon back: "Hey, I was working. I'm not ignoring you so chill, it's not that deep ok?"

I then checked my voicemails, and the first one was Jaxon, basically spazzing out, but the interesting one was from Ashlon. Smiling, I replay the message again:

"Hello, Amber, it's Ashlon, I hope your day is going well. I'd love to link up with you when you're free. Give me a call. I'll be in the office 'til around three. After that, I can be all yours, so to speak. Talk to you soon, love," he says.

I call Ashlon back, and he answers on the second ring. "Hello, Ms. Petersen, how are you?" he asks.

"I am wonderful, thank you for asking. And to answer your earlier question, yes, I would love to link up with you. What did you have in mind?" I ask.

"How about a late lunch?" he questions.

"That would be perfect. Say around 4 p.m.?" I ask.

"Perfect," he states. "You want to text me your address so I can pick you up?"

I could hear the smile in his voice. "Yes, that would be great. I'll see you soon," I say.

"I can't wait."

Hanging up with the biggest smile on my face, satisfied with my plans for later, I lock up my office to meet Veronica at the mall. I text Veronica letting her know I was on my way, and pulled out of the parking garage of my building. Hearing my text alert go off, it was Jaxon again.

Hey, I was just kidding, seeing how you would react, lol. I'm not that crazy. Can we link up tonight, I miss your face? he writes.

Thinking about it, I text back, sure, I'll come to your place later tonight, about eight ok?

Cool, he texts back.

Shaking my head in exasperation, I know he is that crazy, but I don't have to be in love to get my body maxed out. I can already tell that this may not be what I need in my life, may have to stop this sooner rather than later.

Pulling up to the mall, I text Veronica to see where she is, and she replies the food court. I park my car in a semi-close parking spot, thinking, just my luck. I head into the mall, walking toward the food court, seeing all the people shopping and talking amongst themselves, when I spot Veronica waving at me, smiling hard.

"Hey, bitch," she screams.
