Clara woke up the next morning feeling relieved but had a slight pain at her back.

She felt a tap as she turned,"wake up,it's time for prayers"Annabella spoke up which made her sigj deeply.

"Maxwell...Maxwell!!"Annabella called out tapping him yet no response.

Clara crawled to him and pinched him,"ouch!"he winced screaming.

"You shouldn't have stood up! silly boy!"Clara mocked crawling down from the bed.

Maxwell hummed stretching his body,,he Crawled down from the bed like he was I'm so much pain as Clara sneakily placed her legs on the road which made him slip off.

"Ouch!!"He winced again.

"Maxwell what's wrong with you??"Mrs Chima asked annoyed by his sudden behavior as Clara snickered.

"And what's funny cla??"she asked.

"Mummy Clara....."

"Clara did what??"Clara attacked immediately as he clasped his lips together.

Mrs Chima hummed,"Is okay,everytime you two are fighting "She stated,"come and sit here"She directed Maxwell who moved towards her direction.

The morning devotion was amazing and soothing,when they were done everyone went for their daily chores in other to prepare for school.

Clara , Helene and Maxwell dressed on casual wears as their mum carried them to school while Mr Chima carrier Francis and Annabella to Asarama for their registration.

"Alright bye kids,see you in the afternoon"Mrs Chima stated as soon as she dropped them at the gate.

"Bye mum"They all responded in unison.

They walked in and Clara got annoyed getting to the school,she couldn't believe her eyes.

The school looked so unkept and unorganized,the pupils weren't speaking English either,they kept on speaking their language like it was a normal thing.

Teachers weren't concerned about roaming students,they felt so relaxed and less concerned.

She turned to Helene to be sure she wasn't hallucinating,"Are you seeing what I'm seeing??"She asked Helene who had a disgusted look on he face.

"What kind of school is this??"Helene questioned back which made Clara nod in frustration,"I don't even understand either"she responded.

She turned to Maxwell but the naughty kid was grinning from ear to ear.

"Maxwell what's up with the smile?"She questioned.

"Nothing!,this school would be fun!"he shone his brightly white white teeth.

"Exactly!!!that's why you're crazy!! I can see that!"She stated,"come on,stop pretending like you're the best,when we were in town you always got 5th position and above, so stop trying to act all intelligent!"He blabbed mockingly.

"Huh??"She half yelled.

"What??"He questioned as she raised her hand to slap him."can you guys just chill??"Helene interrupted them.

"Maxwell you know she's not you're mate,you better control yourself and respect your young age"She turned to Maxwell who was grinning joyously to annoy Clara.

"Just leave him alone, he'll soon cry"Clara stated firmly walking away in annoyance.

"Just leave him he'll soon cry!"He mimicked her which made Helene eye roll in frustration.

"You two are always fighting!"She hummed following Clara while Maxwell followed from behind.

Clara got into her class and was more stunned!.

It looked so messy and dusty making it worst for her.

The more pupils came in the more the dust increased.

What the heck??!!

She rushed to th back finding a comfortable place near the window where she could breath.

She hummed feeling relieved,"please settle down everyone"She heard someone's voice who spoke English.

She hurriedly turned to see an attractive young pregnant lady.

Wow!!she's cute!- her brain screamed .

Not sure she's from here,she's the only beautiful lady she's seen here - she commented.

Everyone rushed to their sit as a dark girl in front banged her desk, everyone stood up immediately which got Clara confused but followed suit.

"Good morning ma'am,we are happy to see you God bless you amen!""they all chorused which wowed Clara.

Such locality!!- she chuckled in disbelief.

"Good morning dearies,how was your night?"She questioned.

"Fine thank you and you?"

"Mine was great!"She chuckled due to their scream.

Woah - Clara was stunned by what she saw.

This is crazy!!.

"You all can sit please"She added opening the big textbook on her hand.

"Eh....em,I think we have a new pupil in our midst,the principal told me so"She stated.

"Us there a new pupil here??"She questioned looking around which got everyone looking at their partners.

Clara stood up,"I'm here ma'am"She answered raising her hand,"beautiful,please come up!"She prostrated signaling Clara to come out.

Clara stared at the crowd.

Mehn she wasn't fond of crowd.

She dropped he head down moving out,she got to the teacher who help her shoulders tenderly ,"Are you shy??"She warmly asked making Clara nod positively .

"Aww please don't be, they're all your age mate okay??"She encouraged her,"Anyways I'm Mrs Augustine and what's your name??"She asked.

"I'm Clara Francis Nkem" Clara replied gaining a chuckle from Mrs Augustine.

"Such a lovely name,how old are you??"Mrs Augustine asked."I'm eight years old"She replied.

"Oh my!,such a nice age to be in grade three,you're so adorable and please don't be shy okay?"Mrs Augustine encouraged her further."yes ma'am"she replied.

"I love your accent too,it's neat"the young lady complimented making Clara raise her head in amusement.

No one has ever complimented her about her accent.

"Thank you ma'am"she blushed hard.

"Alright,you can go to your sit now,let's begin the lesson for today"She stated as she walked to her sit.

"Awajimijana,please clean the board"Mrs Augustine stated as the dark girl stood to wipe the board.

Clara sat down staring at the teacher,she wondered why the lady with such intelligence would be in such a school like this.

She felt bad!.

"Alright today we'll be learning words and their opposite,are we ready??"

"Yes!"they all screamed happily.

Tsk! What's new about words and opposite??- she thought inwardly.

The lady taught giving many illustration,the class was so much fun and soon they were done.

"Is there any question??"She asked .

"No!!!!"they screamed with joy.

"Alright here's your classwork!"she stated writing on the board.

Clara opened her book and did hers with ease,some struggled with theirs,others did it while some were less concerned about it as they played and giggled with one another.

"Time up!,please drop your pen and leave your book on your desk,I'll come and mark it myself"She stated moving around with her red pen.

"Jesus!,does that mean that all this my effort of teaching were in vain??only awaji that got all"The lady screamed in frustration as she marked their books."some of you can't even spell!"She added.

She walked up to Clara with a broad smile,"lemme see your own"She stated drawing Clara's book to herself.

"Beautiful,very good!,you got all too"She smiled in satisfaction marking her book.

"Infact come to the front,don't let this locals distract you"She added carrying Clara's book to the front as she dropped it on awajimijana's table,"you stand up,move over"She commanded the girl sitting next to awajimijana.

Clara stood up with her bag walking to the front.

Mehn, this is gonna be a long day- she lamented inwardly.

The other girl eyed her irritatedly as she gazed down avoiding it,she sat next to the girl who smiled at her warmly,"Good !! This would be your permanent sit,anyone that disturbs you come and report to me"She stated .

"Okay ma'am"Clara responded as Mrs Augustine walked away,"See you all in our next class everyone"She said leaving in a haste.

The girl turned to her,"I'm awajimijana by name,what's yours??"She asked smiling.

"I guess you heard my name when I introduced myself"Clara responded with a smile which got her chuckling.

"I know your name,just wanted a friendly chat with you girl!"awajimijana said.

"Ohhh!"Clara mouthed blushing.

"I'm sorry!"She apologized immediately,"it's alright cla,so what's up??"She asked.

"I'm cool"Clara smile feeling her vibes.

"Alright then"She said,"we'll see you after school "Awajimijana told added as the bell rang.

The fuck!! Is it school over already??- her brain screamed.

"Is it school over??"Clara asked her as she watched everyone pack their stuff up.

"Haha,here isn't like town schools where you have a specified time to close,here's an I DON'T CARE kind of school,it's no one's business...anytime you hear the bell,you go home,that's it"Awajimijana explained which made Clara eyes widen more in disbelief.

This is outrageous!!" She yelled out.

"Of course it is,don't worry you'll get used to it as time goes by"Awajimijana encouraged her.

Clara hummed shaking her head - She can never cope with this bullshit.

She carries her bag rushing out immediately as she bumped into Maxwell,"where's Helene??"She asked.

"There she is"He answered as she turned to his direction.

"Let's go home then"she replied as Helene joined them.

"What's up with the long face??"Helene asked.

"Just leave me alone,I'm tired"came her response as they trekked home in silence .
