Chapter 6 Broken Yet Beautiful

JAMES

I opened my eyes and it fell directly on the sleeping figure in front of me.

Serene...beautiful...angelic !!!!

I was staring at her when my hands touched something soft and I looked down to find a blanket on me which I remember I didn't take with me yesterday.

I thought I'd sit here until Sofia changes and freshens up. I was going to put her to sleep, only after that was I planning to sleep here.

But apparently, I slept earlier and she had put the blanket on me.

A smile was painted on my lips automatically.

The day I have been waiting for 10 years is finally here. I woke up to her in front of me. But I never imagined the day would come with so much pain in her life.

Looking at her now like this, I was filled with determination to avenge her and make her mine forever.

She stirred in her sleep and I noticed a ray of sunlight falling on her eyes through the gap between the curtains on the floor-to-ceiling glass wall of the living room.

I got up from the sofa and kneeled in front of her, blocking the sunlight so that I could look at her peaceful face a little more.

But I couldn't keep her asleep for too long as after a few seconds, she opened her eyes and they fell directly on me.

She sat up abruptly, clutching the blanket to her chest which made me Jolt backwards. I almost fell on my back but she was quick to hold my hand and pull me up.

What happened after that was a pleasant surprise for me as my body hit her from the momentum of her pull and both of us fell on the sofa, with me lying over her.

I lost myself in her eyes as we kept staring at each other until she spoke,

"Good morning." She looked away, bringing me back to the present.

"Good morning. How did you sleep?" I asked while getting up and sitting beside her before extending my hand so that she could get up.

"Good. I slept really nice after so long. Thank you for letting me stay here yesterday," she said after sitting upright.

"Yesterday? You are staying here until I find out everything and take care of it or at least until Uncle and Aunty take you with them."

"NO!! No No No!! I'll die rather than face them."

Her hands flew to her mouth and she widened her eyes as she was talking with no one in particular. She was panicking.

"Hey hey, relax!"

She was mumbling something which I couldn't understand and so I tried to calm her down.

"Sofia, relax. I won't call anyone if you don't want to. Please listen to me." I hugged her tightly and slowly her breathing turned normal.

But she was still sobbing softly in my arms and it was breaking my heart.

After almost half an hour of holding her in my arms, I asked her to take a bath.

Meanwhile, I took a bath in another bathroom and made pancakes and an omelette for breakfast after asking Josh to buy some clothes for Sofia.

Are you making breakfast? She asked, coming out of the room in one of my T-shirts.

She looked beautiful in my clothes. Sexy even. I thought to myself

"James !!" She called me once again and I snapped out of my thoughts

"Yeah. Sit there. Breakfast is ready." I smiled at her and showed her the table.

"But I could have made breakfast. You didn't have to," she said to me meekly.

I didn't like how she was behaving like she was under my mercy and she had to obey me at any cost.

She should stand beside me, shoulder to shoulder and even boss me around.

That's how I wanted my Sofia to be with me.

"It's okay. You should rest as much as possible for a few days. Housekeeping staff will be here before lunch.

So don't worry. Come sit here." I guided her to the table by her hand.

We were eating breakfast when I told her,

"We'll go to the hospital in an hour. I am just waiting for Josh to bring your new clothes."

The fork fell from her hand as she looked up at me with big eyes.

"Why? Who's Josh ?"

"Calm down. Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. Josh is my driver and most trusted bodyguard. He was with me yesterday when I found you.

He is a very nice guy. You'll like him.

And about the hospital...uhh.The Dr who checked you yesterday told me to get you checked properly in the hospital."

Her eyes widened even more and I knew she would panic. So I went to her side and put my arms around her shoulders before pulling her closer.

"Was the Dr a male ?" She asked.

"No. Female. She is our family physician. You don't need to worry about anything. I'll never do anything which will make you uncomfortable. Trust me."

She looked down and nodded.

"Do you want to talk about what happened to you ?" I asked.

"I am ashamed to talk about it. You'll hate me after I tell you everything."

"What? Why would you think like that ?"

"It's not good James. I am feeling used and dirty. I still think I shouldn't stay alive anymore."

"Shh. Don't talk about dying ever again. And listen to me. Nothing in the world can make me let you go away from me now, except you."

"You are too good, James. I don't deserve you. Why are you with me? You can get any girl you want. I am feeling guilty for keeping you from a perfect life partner."

"You are the perfect life partner that I want. I was still trying to find you and if I had not found you yesterday, I still would have been searching for you right now," I said.

She started crying again and I wiped her tears before kissing her forehead.

I wanted to kiss her lips but I may come off as too aggressive after what she had been through.

So I restrained myself.

The doorbell rang and I got up to open the door to find Josh with 5-6 paper bags of some famous designer boutiques.

"Thanks, Josh." I took the bags from him.

"Anything for you sir," he said and walked away.

"Sofia.. Take these and wear whatever you are comfortable with. Then we'll leave for the hospital." I handed her the bags with a smile.

She took the bags with a faint smile and went inside my bedroom while I waited in the living room.

After 15 minutes, she came out wearing a pair of fitted jeans with an oversized shirt with her hair in a messy high bun.

She was still looking gorgeous in such a humble outfit. She had a pair of sneakers too which I forgot to ask Josh to buy. But he still got it.

I made a mental note to thank him later.

"I would be fine with a few pairs of simple clothes. You didn't need to get these branded outfits for me. I hadn't worn any decent clothes other than those good-for-nothing night dresses in years anyway," she said while adjusting her shirt.

"I want you to feel good about yourself. I am doing this more for myself. Don't break my heart, please!" I said with a playful smile and she smiled back.

"Never again,' she said and smiled at me sweetly.

"Come, let's go. Whenever you are ready to talk about what happened, please tell me."

I held her by her waist and took her with me to my car.
