Chapter 8 Changed Your Mind

Jason Pov

With a sly smirk, I threw a glance at the seething woman whose fist was clenched tightly.

Did she think I was happy proposing this to her? I had to watch my son's condition worsen everyday without the presence of his illusional mother.

"What do you think you are doing?" I asked, glaring at her.

"Are you that heartless? Why would you want to destroy my brother's life for your selfish purposes?" She asked, tears flowing freely on her cheek.

"Heartless? I can say that about you too! I have to watch my son deteriorate because he thinks you are his mother! Do you think I want to marry you in the first place?" I mocked, in anger.

" That doesn't justify the fact that you are forcing me to get married to you! I will not! I will get my brother out of prison with or without your help! I think I made a big mistake coming here in the first place," she refused, this time she was determined to leave.

I bit hard on my lower lip to hold back my anger and frustration. I wondered why she was refusing to marry me. Did she know that there are so many women flocking around just to be called Mrs. Clarksville?

Damnit! If not for my son, I wouldn't be caught with someone like her!

As I was in deep thoughts on what to do next, I heard a loud bang from the door. I looked up only to see that the damn woman had left the room.

"Did she just leave?" I asked no one in particular.

It looked like she was daring me.

Why the hell was I stuck up with her when I can simply find an expert on psychology to take care of my son?

I sighed as I put a call to a physiotherapist in the UK that was very good at his job. Perhaps there might be a solution to this fantasy world Vince had locked himself in.

After two rings, the person on the other end picked the call.

"Doctor Mark, I need a favor from you," I said, sighing.

I began to explain everything to the doctor. After a while, the doctor sighed before replying.

"It would be fine to hire a therapist for him but he might not respond to the treatment and his case would worsen. My suggestion is to bring the lady in question to him. Perhaps, he would regain his memories in less than three months," Doctor Mark replied.

" Is there any chance of him recovering during the therapist sessions?" I asked, not willing to beg her again.

" The chances are 0.01 percent. But with the lady's presence, he would recover very fast. I think it's best if you can convince..."

" No need. I want you here as soon as you can to check on him," I said.

"Jason , I will advise you..."

" And I am the one paying you, right? I need you here in less than a day, got it?" I said, cutting the call.

I sat down on the couch, placing my hands on my head. I could feel the migraine coming in full force and I rang one of the maids to bring my medication.

Barely two minutes, the maid came rushing in with the medication. I swallowed it and was just about to rest my head when I heard a loud shattering sound.

Forget the migraine, I was getting frustrated!

I clenched my fist tightly to hold back my anger. I knew that Vince had woken up and was throwing his tantrums again.

" Why on earth would she reject my proposal?" I mused, standing up to attend to my son.

As I was getting closer to the living room, I heard Vince's voice as he destroyed things in the living room.

" I want my momma! Get me my momma!" He cried, still smashing things on the ground.

All the servants were looking petrified and didn't know what to do.

"Vince!!!" I bellowed, drawing his attention.

He looked up with eyes filled with accusations and underlying guilt. He was breathing heavily as he held the silverware, ready to be smashed by his anger.

But it didn't take another second more before he smashed the silver ware to the ground. He glared at me before running off to his room to lock himself up.

"Come back here, Vince!" I raged, walking towards the direction of his room.

"I hate you! I don't want you! I want my momma!" Vince screamed, looking back as I drew closer.

"She is not your mother!" I said in frustration.

"You are lying! She is my momma and you drove her away! You make momma leave me! I hate you!" Vince threw the words at me before running to the entrance of his room.

But just as he was about to close the door, he slumped to the ground. He just fainted due to exhaustion.

Seeing my son fainting again, I began to panic. I never expected Vince to be so attached to her.

"Call the doctor right now!" I shouted at the butler.

I lifted my son to the room as the butler ran out to make the call. I placed him on his bed and saw that he had turned extremely pale and lanky these past few days. My mind was torn between my son and what I had to do to save him. I wondered why she was so adamant. What does she want?

Is there something she is not telling me?

"Don't worry, son. I will do all I can to bring your momma to you," I said, caressing his hair.

I needed to act fast or else I might end up losing him. With that thought in mind, I brought out my phone and dialed a number.

"Follow my instructions carefully and I want results in the next two hours" I said, clenching the phone tightly.

My eyes red with anger.

Let's see if you can still refuse, I thought.

****

I waited for the doctor to finish his checkup on Vince. After ten minutes the doctor came out, sighing.

" His condition is worsening by the day. I have given him some sedatives to calm his system. But I will advise you to get the lady in question close to him till he fully recovers," the doctor said.

I clenched my fist tightly, trying to hold his emotions that were about to burst out. As I was about to ask the doctor some questions, my phone started ringing.

"Go on," I simply answered.

"Sir, it is done. Even the mother had to call her. I am sure she would be back in no time"

" Don't just keep the boy, do all you can to make it real. I will handle whatever problem that would arise" I said, cutting the call.

Did she think she could walk away from me just like that? I am waiting for her to come back begging for the life of her brother!

I brought out my phone and put a call across a number on my phone. It was connected immediately.

"Mr. Clarksville, to what do I owe this auspicious call?"

"I want you to clear the office of the registry. I will be there in two hours. Prepare a marriage certificate that carries a contract. I will send you the details soon," I instructed.

" What about the names?"

" Just do as I had told you and leave the space for the names. My lawyer will be with you soon," I replied, cutting the call.

I was determined to get that doctor to sign that document and she would come to me by herself!

Exactly thirty minutes later, Mr. Alberto sent a text to me that the issue had been solved. He had been my lawyer long enough to know that I am not the patient type.

Scoffing, I picked up the contract as I waited patiently for the doctor's arrival. I was sure that with all the things I had set up for her brother, she would come running to me to sign the document.

I waited for another thirty before I heard a soft knock on my study room door. The door was pushed open and the angry face of the doctor came into view.

"Changed your mind?" I mocked.

"If only you weren't so despicable! I hate you!" She spat out.

"I never told you to love me. And I will gladly terminate this contract the moment my son no longer needs you," I countered, staring at her.

"I will sign it. I will be your wife but don't you ever interfere in my life as I won't interfere in yours!" She stated, looking at me too.

"Deal!" I said, handing her the contract. It was easier that way, though.

I watched as she struggled within herself before she walked slowly towards me.
