Chapter 5 I will stay

Doesn't it suck when you learn that the person you love, the person who you dearly hold in your heart, you know nothing about him? They seem to appear in front of you like a different person than they truly are.

He looked so appealing but he acted like that. He looked like my type but he turned out different. I loved seeing his gentle nature but he turned out someone who doesn't care about me.

Does he have tattoos? Does he smoke? What If he drinks a lot? Once I didn't want to date or like anyone who had those habits. But now, I think I can't hate him even if he has any of those habits.

Is this why people say that love is blind? Probably! Because I can't hate him. I can't think about anyone else next to me but him.

What can I do to make him love me little? What if we just try to be friends first? Will he be friends with me? I doubt.

I am nothing but an obstacle for him. He must be sleeping embracing his beloved. Maybe, gently stroking her hair, and her shoulder, he is calming her to sleep. Pecking her forehead or loving her fullest. I don't know. I can't even imagine.

He looks beautiful. His eyes are addictive. His smile, it's unexplainably beautiful. He looks handsome, and kind. And, he lives in my thoughts all day long.

I think I will be crazy. Two years isn't enough for me. I want to see him every day, want to enjoy every second with him. But we aren't blessed. He will never acknowledge me.

I wish for five minutes, I could talk to him, sitting next to each other, under the starry sky, with the wind, and the moonlight peaking into the place we will be, and talk about everything. How much I love him, how much I wanted to be a part of his life. Everything.

I wish to love him more!

Don't think I am a weak and innocent person. I am not. I just have a weird habit. Once I give my heart to something, I can't feel at ease until I get it.

And loving him is my obsession. I won't force him but I will love him for myself.

" Oryx!"

Sitting on the swing chair in the garden under the black, starry sky, I wanted to freshen my heart and mood. Because of this marriage, I am worn out.

But the phone call I received earlier snaps me back of my exhausted thoughts.

" When will you be back? We are short of manpower! We need you!"

Huh! I am truly exhausted. I can't work now.

" I took a week off. You want me to return to work the day after my wedding!"

I hissed to the person who made such an unreasonable comment. He should know that I won't do anything right now.

" Are you happy with the wedding?"

" Why do you ask?"

What is he talking about? He doesn't know about my personal life.

" Just wondering!"

" I am. He is the man who I always dreamt of."

The response from the opposite of the phone was silent. Why do they think I won't get whoever I wish to? Don't I deserve someone better and someone I like?

" Congratulations! Oryx. Anyway, we are indeed short of people. Boss doesn't want to tell you about our recent meeting because of your wedding. But you should know about it!"

The conversation we had later on, wasn't what I thought I would hear. The heart of mine which already accused itself as a useless being, started dancing to get hell out of this house and attend my work.

But will I be able to handle such a responsibility with my exhausted mentality? It's a No. A big No.

" Our first team is heading to handle the situation first. If you want to join, let me know. you can join us right after our first team return!"

Seeing like I had little time to fix my mental state. My husband can abandon me but I can't abandon my work for him. Let's go back to our usual self. No expectations from anyone.

" OK. I will let you know when I will return to HQ. Tell Boss to call me once he gets free time."

" Good decision. I will let him know about it!"

" OK. Goodnight!"

" Goodnight, Oryx"

The phone call ended with a heavy sigh I could release. Now, the night feels colder and empty. I shouldn't have fallen in love in the first place. But I don't regret it. There have been two incidents in my life which make me feel better whenever I recall them.

First, I don't want to think about it. I will share it with the right person and the second one, him.

Knowing what an unreasonable proposal that old Man made, I met his son. For the first time, I wanted to stand next to someone so desperately. His appearance was soothing and protective. My heart is protected by his strong appearance. He was the guy who I dreamed about a lot of times.

It's me who couldn't hold her desire to be loved, so I started loving him. I should have asked if he loved me or not. He isn't the one at fault but I am...

As I return to the house, thinking I should be better off my work than staying in this lonely enormous house, My eyes find three people standing in front of me.

With an uncomfortable grip, I forced myself to smile and walked towards them. Avoiding the first person like he doesn't exist, I look at the others.

" Hello, Dad. You surprised me. When did you two come?"

More polite to get, I hug my mother-in-law who smiles like a pure and perfect mother-in-law. Although I am aware of their wicked plan to throw me into a loveless marriage.

" My Sweetheart. You must have felt lonely that he left for work after the wedding. We are sorry for that."

She said stroking my back. Lol, if their actions meet their inner thoughts.

" Don't worry. I can understand that he is busy. Although I couldn't become Someone like my parents. But I know how stressful work can be!"

" You are indeed a good person. Don't worry. Marquis won't do it again. He is going to stay with you from now on."

" What do you mean by why? Oryx! You are a housewife. Your responsibility should be taken by him seriously. It's marriage, not a plaything. Marquis will have to be a perfect husband to support his wife. Also, we need an heir. Slacking off, working like robots, neglecting his duties won't bring anything fortune to our family!"

My father-in-law responded like a perfect father-in-law. But behind his every word, every facial expression he has changed, I know how sarcastic I found him. His eyes are showing. Do whatever you want. Just don't destroy my reputation Before the election.

" He will. Don't worry. Dad. Marquis promised me that he would give me his time. He isn't slacking off. I just let him do his work. You know, we know each other before marriage. We can understand each other well."

I said glancing at Marquis whose eyebrows narrowed with my every word.

"You let him go to work? Why? Baby! You two should know each other well!"

My mother-in-law speaks gently. Their acting is Oscar-winning. No doubt.

" We are adjusting our lives how it will be in the future. I don't want to get addicted to his presence. What if once he goes back to work and I can't help but feel lonely and depressed? We are balancing our romantic life and professional life. Isn't it Marquis?"

You better respond positively if you don't wish to be trapped here forever.

And he did. He knows his place right now. Going against my words means he has to stay with me against his will. Well, I shouldn't have helped. But I don't want to cage someone. They are free to live their own life.

" Then we were stressing about nothing. Good then. We will take our leave. Enjoy your time together. Don't need to work today anymore!"

They didn't even sit for the whole time, now ready to go. But why don't I feel ashamed of this? I should have told them to take a rest.

No, I shouldn't. So, I nod and wave my hand to send them off. Fake people shouldn't be around for a long time.

" So, Are you going to stay here or leave?"

I said pouring a glass of water and holding it before him.

He didn't reject. Holding the glass of water, he rests himself on the couch. His bloodshot eyes shift on me as If I did something wrong with him.

" Why acting when you nagged to them that I didn't come here?"

What did he say? But... His voice isn't accepted by my heart. Because it's mixed with loathing and anger.

" Excuse me!?" I frown. What is he talking about?

" Don't act so innocent. You can act so professionally. I will stay here from now on!"

He said but his last words made my heart jump with happiness. Did he say he will stay here with me? I must have heard - wrong?

" But my daughter and my lover will stay with us. You must not cross your line in front of them. Never introduce yourself as my wife in front of my daughter. She does know nothing!"

I feel empty again. I should have known that my happiness never lasted two seconds long.

" Did you find her? Your lover?"

" Yes. She was just angry with me. Now she will stay with us!"

" Are they coming tonight?"

Please say No. Not tonight. I am not prepared to face someone who you will love dearly in front of me.

" They are already in my car. My butler will fetch them in now!"
