Chapter 3 THE NIGHT CLUB

Louis The meeting was horrible. So horrible, in fact, that he deinvested from him entirely. When the interns weren't ready and their presentation was a shit show, I explained that they were new hires and this was their first meeting. I was hoping to get some sympathy from Mr. Watts, but that's when those stupid interns admitted they were interns. Mr. Watts took great umbrage at the idea of me putting interns in their meeting "If I'm so unimportant that my meeting deserves mere interns, I guess my investment isn't important enough for you." I am retired. Angry, he left the room.

I shot the inmates on the spot. I spent the rest of the day hunched over my computer trying to patch things up with Mr. Watts and reconfigure the finances. Those stupid interns ruined everything for me. Mr. Watts was one of our oldest investors, having been here since my father. If other investors found out about the loss of their investment, they would ask questions. They too could withdraw. I had to fix this as soon as possible. As my fingers flew across the keyboard, Grant brought me my third coffee in the past hour. I had to fix this now and I didn't care if it meant staying in the office all night. "Louis," Grant said with concern in his voice, "you really need to go home, or at least take a break. "No way," I replied between sips of my coffee and typing numbers into my calculator. This has to be fixed now, otherwise my inbox will be flooded with angry emails tomorrow. Grant took the coffee cup from me. "Come on, just a little break," she begged as she set her cup down next to the coffee machine. You've been at this for hours. "I said no, just fuck off," I spat, my temper getting the best of me. Despite my harsh words, Grant didn't flinch. It didn't matter what I said to him half the time, he knew he never meant it. he. "Look, I'm sorry. I'm really stressed. "I know," he replied. "That's why I say you should take a break or better go home." The chair rocks back and forth when I lean back in it. Even sitting here, I can feel like I'm falling asleep. The only thing keeping me awake was the caffeine in my veins and the occasional shake from my head. "God, I need a drink," I mutter to myself, or at least what I thought was to myself because for a second, Grant's face lights up. "Let's go out then!" he exclaimed, grabbing my briefcase. I know this great place is walking distance to where I go sometimes after work.-I didn't know of any bars very close. Well, I was at that strip club. "Are you talking about that strip club on second?" I asked. "Yeah, they have an amazing bartender and a super stripper," he whistles. -She knows how. work that pole. I put my eye white. God, I can't believe she's trying to talk me into going to a striptease. "I'm not going to go to a strip club to watch you masturbate, seeing a stripper." He rolls his eyes "I don't go there for the strippers, just for the drinks," he replies, offering me a hand to get out of my chair. "But you really should see her." She's a great dancer and she's hot. "I'll be the judge of that," grabbing my Grant briefcase and placing it in my hand. "So shall we go?" I nod. "What can I say, you've convinced me." He held my office door open for me. "It was the mention of hot girls, right?" he jokes as we leave my office. I pursed my lips and nodded. We were the only ones left in the building, most of the cubicles dark with the only ones lit by emergency lights and the red glow of the exit sign. We left the building and started our walk towards the strip club. How could Grant talk me into going to a strip club with the promise of hot girls? Of course, they went to see hot girls! It's a strip club for crying out loud! If anyone sees me there and recognizes me, I'd be the talk of the papers for weeks. No one like me would get caught dead going to a strip club. But after a five-minute walk, there we were, standing outside a small building with a pink neon sign-Hollywood Strip-buzzing over the entrance. "This is a mistake," I tell him as Grant opens the door for me. "Okay," he says, following behind me, "we're here and we're in, going back now? The music inside rattled my eardrums and various colored lights flashed as I the dancers performed their routines on various stages spread throughout the club. The main was empty, which I found strange. Grant led me to the counter and we sat down. As soon as the bartender noticed us he came over with a smile on his face. "Hello, Grant, my man!" she said, throwing her towel over her shoulder. "Great, Jimmy!" Grant waved back. I stared in disbelief at the interaction in front of me. -Good Have two whiskeys on the rocks. "Vodka," I corrected Grant. "Okay, a vodka and a whiskey on the rocks." "He's coming!" said the bartender, or Jimmy, I guess. He walked away to start our drinks and turned to Grant. "Then understand me well," I began, "you already know the bartender of a strip club and you treat him as you?" How often do you come here?" Grant shrugged and I sighed. -Whatever. I just need a drink or two and then I have to get back to work." Grant let out a defeated sigh, realizing he wasn't going to get me home for a while. The bartender returned with our two drinks in hand. The moment he put down mine, I grabbed it and drank it in one go. I shook my head to get rid of the stinger and then hit him again. Down on the counter. "Give me another one," I ordered the bartender who was looking at me with a raised look. eyebrow. -Difficult day?- "You have no idea," I replied as I removed the glass. The drinks kept coming while the music continued to play. Then, for a moment, the music stopped and the announcer went on to say, "Now we present The Incredible Apple!" There had been no other introduction to any of the other dancers she had seen change periodically. I turned around on my stool and that's when my heart stopped to see a spectacular girl, like no other...
