Chapter 5 5

"We are in need of someone who is capable of doing this for us, not just any person. Are you sure you are capable?" Hilary asked Megan for the umpteenth times. She wants no mistake whatsoever, all she wants was to be sure she's trusting the right person.

"Of course, ma'am. I'm more than capable for the surrogacy, trust me, ma'am." Megan answered, trying not to sound desperate. She picked her words gently and make sure she can convince them about her capability.

"Fine, we will be paying you part of the money during the surrogacy process and the remains after you conceive successfully. Is that okay by you?" Dwayne spoke for the second time since Megan was being interviewed.

He decided not to say much and trust his wife on it, women know how to talk things out with their fellow gender.

"Here, go through this to know if you will accept whatever rules we lay down for you. It's your choice with whatever you choose, no one forced you." Hilary handed the documents over to Megan.

Megan went through the documents slowly, realizing there isn't many conditions written in them. Everything in the documents goes really well with her, she signed them without hesitating.

"The first stage of this is done, we should move to the next. Right?" Dwayne asked after Hilary had collected the documents from Megan.

"Sure, I'm ready..." Megan answered.

"Since you say you can do this, I guess there is not much time to waste then," Hilary said slowly. "We will just have to get you to the hospital on immediate effect, or what did you say Darling?"

"What else am I supposed to say? I'm in support of whatever option of yours." Dwayne replied instead.

"Since no one is objecting to it, let's hit the road already," Hilary uttered.

The ride to the hospital was a long ride. Megan keeps wondering how the IVF process would turn out, she only hopes the doctor doesn't detect her pregnancy and rat her out to these two couples.

She could only pray and hope everything goes smoothly as she want them to be, she can't miss her chance now. Who knows if she would be able to get a lifetime opportunity like this again?

They get to the hospital after what seems like forever. The Zahans', Hilary, and Dwayne took her to the doctor's office.

Since the doctor is aware of their visit, they say no much words as Hilary and her husband, Dwayne excused the doctor and Megan.

Megan was aware there isn't any way the doctor won't notice the seed growing inside her already. So rather than being rat out like a criminal, she decided to make a deal with him.

Handsome deal at that!

"There is a problem of which the Zahans are not aware. To me, it's not a problem but to them, it is a problem and a big one at that." Megan began her word slowly as she stare at the doctor.

The doctor whose name was, Jonas, creased his brow in confusion and maybe he was eager to know what the problem is. "What do you mean by a big problem at that?" Jonas asked with curiosity laced in his voice.

Megan let out a deep sigh and also breathed in afterward. Slowly, she explained her predicament to Jonas. Jonas was really shocked to his bone marrow as he look really speechless.

"Okay, this might sound really bad on my own part but I have no option than to do this. If I do not risk my life for this, there isn't any hope of me surviving." Megan pleaded in despair, as she stare deeply into Jona's eyeballs, searching for an answer.

"I'm sorry but this is really against my profession. How would the Zahans feel when they finally learn the truth? Did you care about their feelings at all?" Jonas asked, disbelief laced in his voice.

He understands Megan's situation and wishes to help her but he can't risk his job because of her. Megan was shattered and she keep having the feeling that this might be her last chance.

"They don't have to know, no one has to tell them. Please, do this for me. I can't stand to give birth to my baby to starve to death." Megan keeps begging Jonas desperately.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Megan..."

Megan's countenance dropped to the least before...

An idea struck Megan and she let out a side smug grin. If her begging and crying can't save her, then printed papers. Everyone sure has this soft spot for printed papers and care do the unthinkable for it.

"Fine, I think I know what you want," Megan said slowly. "If the IVF process should go smoothly, I won't mind paying you handsomely for it. How about that?"

"How much did you intend to pay, Ms. Megan? Let's be specific on a fixed amount." Jason said like the professional he is.

"Half a million is what I intend to pay, is it okay?" Megan questioned. Paying this kind of amount won't hurt since the doctor already promise to keep it away from the couples, right?

Jason appears decisive, his mind in chaos. Half a million is not too small to keep a secret, but... "Add more to it, I know the risk that comes with what I'm about to do."

"A million then?" Megan asked. "I promise to pay you if only you won't rat me out."

"Fine, I promise."

"It's a deal, then?" Megan wants to be sure she is on the safe side.

"Sure, it's a deal..."

Megan went through the necessary process and the IVF was done, fake! . It went successful and this was enough to put a smile on the Zahans' faces. They were really glad about it.

On the other hand, Megan was feeling guilty for tampering with the couple's trust but she know she has to do this. She will just have to pretend after giving birth that the couple adopted her baby.

At least they will be able to give her baby what she can't afford, that's the first benefit of her plan. And the second benefit, after they pay her she will be able to start another life with the money. Not just any kind of life but a good one at that, why is she feeling guilty then?

Megan had to convince herself with the reasons for her to bury her guilt. She won't be running away with the baby anyways, it will be the Zahans'...
