Chapter 4 Between Faith and Doubt

In the hospital garden, there was a man sitting in a wheelchair. Who else if not Gifer, he was with his best friend and coworker, Haris Krisnawan. The sharp-nosed man with his square smile had indeed been a friend of Gifer for a long time, even from when they were in junior high school until now.

It was Gifer who brought Haris into GF Corporation, because his friend was only working as an ordinary employee in a small company, so Gifer took the initiative to invite him to work with him. Haris is indeed a good friend of Gifer, he always tells Gifer if he gets into trouble and Gifer gives the solution, and vice versa. He also always invited Gifer to go healing to see the outside world if Gifer was in a bad mood or dizzy with his work.

Even now, it is Haris who accompanies Gifer in the park. Although he could no longer see, but at least Gifer could feel the air that was penetrating his skin. He intended to get out of his hospital room because he was bored if his activities were only eating and sleeping. He couldn't read, watch television and couldn't do anything. At first he was not allowed to go out and take a walk first, but because he insisted, Haris could do nothing but obey the will of his stubborn friend, even though he had to use a wheelchair.

"Surely now my hair has been blown away by the wind, I really like it, the air outside is different from the air inside the hospital room that smells of medicine," hearing the sad words of the friend who smiled feeling the wind sweeping her hair, Haris was even more saddened, his friend preferred the cool outdoor air especially in the morning like this.

"Yes, Gif, you're right. It looks cooler here," Haris said while enjoying the air in the hospital garden full of flowers and shady trees.

"If I could still see, I would definitely see the green leaves, and also the flowers in this garden, Ris," immediately Gifer's smile faded, he could only imagine the leaves and flowers around him, thinking that the leaves and flowers looked very beautiful.

"Yes Gif, but don't be sad, there is still me. I can be the leaves and flowers that you want, remember, we are friends. Me, I will always accompany you, wherever you go. And of course help you when you are in trouble. Even though I myself can't help much," Haris occasionally wiped the tears that had fallen from his eyes. Then he hugged his fragile friend from behind.

"No Haris, not forever. You won't be able to accompany me forever. If you always accompany me, you might not work, Ris. Surely one day you will return home, right? You can't be with me all the time, you have a personal life too. I know that." Gifer explained while stroking Haris' hand which was still faithfully hugging his shoulder from behind.

"But what about you, Gif? If no one is watching over you, then who will take care of you? You'll be alone Gif," Haris was only afraid if his best friend was alone when everything was gone including Raya who was his lover also left him when he was in trouble.

Gifer closed his eyes accompanied by tears that fell down his cheeks. And that was unknown to Haris. For him, whether open or closed, it would be the same because all he could see was black.

"Maybe I'll find a servant, Ris. One that can keep me company 24 hours, hahahahaha," although Haris doubted, that joke was just a cliché for Gifer to survive and not funny at all. Haris still tried to smile.

"Tsk, you, I'm being serious and joking,"

"Hahahahaha, you're so worried, you feel like you're my lover. Even though my own lover yesterday asked to break up with me," intending to vent, but making Haris' eyes immediately bulged hearing the narrative from Gifer.

"Gif, really? It's Raya, right?" Asked Haris to make sure because he still didn't believe it. Gifer nodded confidently for Haris to believe him.

"It's okay, it means she doesn't love me for who I am. Even though I still love her very much, but because I'm already blind she can't accept me. She berates me and has even scolded me that if I and she get married, she won't live a happy life because she has to take care of a blind man like me," Gifer smiled wryly, painfully remembering Raya's every word the other day.

He couldn't think if the lover he had loved, been proud of, and obeyed all his wishes turned out to be like a spear that had pierced his heart so deeply. Gifer's thick lips began to tremble, not feeling a drop of water coming out of his eyes again, he immediately wiped it away. But this time it was already known by Haris.

"Gif, are you crying?"

"No, it's just that my eyes might be exposed to dust to release water,"

"Don't lie, Gif. I saw it, don't think about Raya. You better focus on GF Corporation's career with me. Let's grow the company back until it's really advanced!" Haris' purpose in saying that was to get Gifer back to his usual enthusiasm.

"Ris, I was just thinking, will there ever be a girl who would love a blind man like me?"

"What kind of question is that? There must be, Gif. You're handsome, the young CEO of GF Corporation, there must be a lot of people who want to be with you, even though it will take a long time and not instant,"

"But, usually they are only after wealth and are not sincere in caring for the blind. Like what happened in the movies,"

"You've watched too many movies, so that's hard to say," Gifer only smiled briefly.

"Sssst, there's no need for much but, let's go to your treatment room now, let's go!" invited Haris who immediately pushed Gifer's wheelchair.

Monas, Central Jakarta also looks beautiful when viewed from a distance. If it's already that beautiful from a distance, what about up close? In the city, there are two girls who are now entering the Monas tower. They both look very happy to be walking around and taking pictures inside the tower.

"Vin, let's go up to the top! I'm curious about the history inside! I'm also curious about the independence room and the top floor of this monument," Anggi was so excited to see the whole monument.

"Uh, he said at the top of this monument there is a supernatural guardian, you know,"

"Don't make it up, it's a myth. Cih, I don't believe it at all," Belvina did not believe in the myth at all.

Arriving at the end of the tower, Monas. This is when Anggi wanted to try to see with binoculars the beauty of Jakarta from above.

"Vin, let's try to see!" Anggi called out to Belviba, but the girl was still pensive and seemed to be praying for something.

"I'm here for a vacation. But please, meet me with a sincere Jakarta man. Amen." Belvina said in her heart and hopefully to her God. She also closed her eyes as she recited the prayer.

"Vin?" Called Anna who was confused to see her friend closing her eyes.

"Why are you even praying? This is on top of the monas tower, stupid! Not in a mosque," she protested, casting an annoyed look at Belvina.

"Ah, yes Anggi I was just praying that we wouldn't fall, yes .. hehe. Anyway, let's try it!"
