Chapter 4 A Night To remember 1

Inside the shabby apartment in the downtown alley of Eldrida was where Lily grew up.

As a child, even when they did not have much she enjoyed the presence of her family. Her dad was the sweetest and her mother was so gentle and kind. She enjoyed the happiness of her home but when her father suddenly disappeared when she was 8, life took a different turn. Her mother fell severely sick with cancer, and she had to beg for scraps from the streets just to eat and for her mother to eat.

Eventually, her mother died. She was taken from one foster home to another. Now, her father who has been gone for years might be with Lorenzo Moretti.

Lorenzo Moretti has heard about him. He was feared amongst all. He was a devil, a strong force against the people of Eldrida. He has the biggest conglomerate and cartel. He was dangerous.

What exactly did Lorenzo have to do with her father? A nobody that did not have enough money to even book a room with Lorenzo?

Lily was skeptical about this situation, she had allowed Detective Carter into her home. Offer him tea and biscuits.

"How exactly did you know my father?" Lily asked.

"Mac was a good man to me. He applied for the police force back in the day but didn't get in. While in police university, he was my roommate. He was the nicest man I have ever met. When he got married, I went to his wedding but after he moved to Eldrida I lost touch only for me to see this letter in the mail after a few months' ' Carter brought out a crumpled paper from his pocket and handed it to Lily.

She quickly picked it up and read the contents. Lorenzo Moretti is one of the richest billionaires nationwide. But his hands are anything but clean. The dark businesses he does are terrible. He has held me captive for a long time but I have been able to send this to you. I fear that my daughter is not safe, I haven't seen her in years. I would love to message her but I fear Lorenzo would trace her and hurt her to get back at me. He is a psycho. Just watch out for Cart, your friend Mac.

Lily wasn't sure if she should trust the letter. She could not remember what her father's handwrite looked look like. It has been so long and it's not as if she had a perfect memory.

She was skeptical about the whole situation. She looked at Carter who was dipping his biscuits into the tea and shoving it into his mouth. She looked at the letter again.

What does she have to lose? If she could see her father one more time she would appreciate it a lot.

"So you are not from Eldridge?" She asked.
