Chapter 5 Unspoken Attractions

Penny woke up around eleven in the evening. She

couldn't sleep, so she decided to make some milk and went outside their house.

Sometimes she's really like this, having insomnia.

There were many stars in the sky, and she was

captivated by their beauty. It seemed like the stars had been scattered across

the heavens.

"They're so beautiful..." she marveled

to herself while gazing up at the sky. She sat on the porch of their beautiful

and spacious house. It feels cold because of the fresh air coming inside.

After a while, she spotted Rocky coming out of

his house, shirtless and wearing denim shorts. Was he also having trouble

sleeping?

He was startled when he noticed her sitting

there, and she avoided eye contact, giving him an annoyed look.

Penny was still irritated with the guy. He was

so arrogant. She had no idea when she would ever get along with him. They had

only been together for a day, and already there was so much chaos between them.

She noticed that he also sat on the porch of his

apartment, facing her. They were now facing each other. She feels uncomfortable

knowing that this guy is also outside. Why do they always see each other, even

at night?

"Why, Pennys, can't you sleep either?"

he asked her.

Her eyes widened at the name he called her. How

shameless! He even used the man's private part as a name to address her.

Fortunately, her mommy and daddy were probably already asleep. Someone might

hear the nonsense coming out of this guy's mouth. She just gave him a

disapproving look and rolled her eyes.

She was still annoyed with this man. He was so

full of himself. She didn't know when she would ever get along with him. They

had only been together for a day, and there was already so much trouble.

She couldn't help but notice his good looks,

despite his somewhat rough appearance. He had many tattoos on his body, even

earrings. His nose was sharp, and his eyelashes were beautiful, perhaps even

longer than hers.

She didn't realize that she was already smiling

as she looked at her arrogant bodyguard. He suddenly turned to her with a

smile, showing off his white, even teeth, but the smile disappeared, replaced

by surprise when he caught her staring at him.

"You seem to find me very handsome,"

he said, causing her to blink. His voice was surprisingly loud for this time of

night.

It was as if she suddenly woke up and quickly

averted her gaze.

"W-what? You're so boastful and feeling

handsome even though you're not!" she retorted. That was a lie. This guy

is really handsome, but that can't change the fact that she's still annoyed

with him.

She heard his faint laughter.

"I know that. Maybe you're fantasizing

about me in your head." He looked so proud while saying those words.

She gave him a disdainful look. What nerve!

She'd never fantasized about him in her life. Maybe if it were the actor Daniel

Philip Henney, she might consider it. He was her crush. She always watches his

movies.

"You're so arrogant!" she said to the

guy.

"Oh, you're picking a fight with me again.

You women really love to fight," he said, shaking his head.

She's the one starting a fight now? She wouldn't

argue with him if he were nice. But it seemed like he always intentionally

ruined her mood. She was stressed at work, and now she is even more stressed

because of her bodyguard. What an unlucky life!

She fell silent, but he suddenly asked,

"Penny, do you have a boyfriend?" Her heart pounded in her chest at

that question. Why did he suddenly think to ask that?

"N-no," she replied timidly.

"Ah, not surprising," he replied,

laughing.

Again, she felt like she wanted to confront him

and punch him because of his arrogance. She knew she wasn't pretty and was

unfashionable. She had accepted that about herself. She didn't need him to

remind her of it. She had many insecurities about her appearance. She got up

from her seat.

"You're really ruining my night!" she

said in annoyance and walked away from the guy. She was just annoyed with this

person. She closed the door behind her, carrying the glass of milk she had with

her earlier.

"That girl is really fun to tease. She's

too stuck-up. Such a waste; she could've been pretty if she dressed better. She

has beautiful eyes and a nice nose. Her lips are pink..." Rocky muttered

to himself. Yeah, he's been looking at her face for a long time. He doesn't

know why. For the first time in his life, he enjoyed seeing the face of a girl

who many think is not attractive, but there was something he felt in himself

that he couldn't explain while looking at her; his heartbeat was fast.

He sighed and lit a cigarette. Why couldn't he

sleep? Maybe his body wasn't used to this fancy house. There were so many stars

in the sky, and he was drawn to look at them. But there could've been an even

better view earlier. Unfortunately, it had disappeared. Maybe he shouldn't have

teased her. He should have controlled himself.

That girl.

He didn't know why he found it amusing to tease

her. She didn't have a boyfriend; he knew that. Not surprising, really. She

wasn't the type to attract suitors. Pfft. It seemed like she always had her

period. Unlikely to get married in the future. She was so grumpy. She even

thought he was a bad person. He was the one who fought for the kidnapper of her

father, and she even thinks that he's a bad person? Well, he will prove to her

that she was thinking wrong. He knew that he was a troublemaker sometimes, but

he's just doing this when he knows that he's right; that's the only thing he

had, his dignity. He put out his cigarettes and went back inside the house. He

needed to sleep.
