Chapter 2 Unspoken Longings

Meera gazed into her cappuccino, her heart pounding like a drum. Arjun watched her closely, a flicker of concern in his eyes. The unspoken tension between them was palpable, and he couldn't help but feel that something was amiss.

"Meera, you seem a bit distant today. Is everything okay?" Arjun asked, his voice laced with genuine concern.

Meera's fingers played nervously with the edge of her coffee cup, her thoughts racing. She had rehearsed this moment countless times in her mind, but now, when it mattered most, her words seemed to elude her.

Finally, she took a deep breath and looked into Arjun's eyes, her own filled with a mix of vulnerability and determination. "Arjun, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a long time."

Arjun leaned in, his curiosity piqued. "Meera, you can tell me anything. You know that, right?"

She nodded, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "We've been best friends for as long as I can remember, and you mean the world to me."

Arjun's brow furrowed and he reached out to take her hand. "Meera, you're scaring me a bit. What's going on?"

Meera squeezed his hand gently, her heart racing. "Arjun, I... I have a secret, something I've kept hidden from you."

Arjun's eyes widened in surprise. He had known Meera for years, and there had never been any secrets between them. "Meera, you can trust me. You can tell me anything."

With a deep breath, Meera finally found the courage to voice her feelings. "Arjun, I'm helplessly in love with you."

Meera nodded, tears glistening in her eyes. "Yes, Arjun, we can talk. I just needed to be honest with you."
