Chapter 4 Meet My Fiancee

After witnessing what had just happened in front of her, Chloe's voice reverberated with anger and confusion. "Do you mind explaining what is going on here?" she yelled, her emotions raw and exposed.

Code's response was cold and unapologetic. "Chloe, meet my fiancée, Martina. Martina, meet Chloe, my contract wife," he declared, and Martina in response, extended a friendly hand towards Chloe.

Chloe recoiled, her fury boiling over. "Get your filthy hands away from me!" Her voice trembled with outrage. "And what does this mean, Code? You tell me you're going for a business meeting, and the next time I see you is six months later, with another woman!"

Code's tone remained indifferent. "This is my home. I can come and go as I please, with whomever I choose."

Chloe's eyes welled up with tears as she tried to hold back her anguish. "This is pure disrespect. You could have at least waited until after our contract before bringing another woman into this home. Do you even know how I feel right now?"

Code's response was callous and unyielding. "No one dictates what I do in my life. Besides, you're just collateral. Our marriage is nothing but a contract, so I can do whatever I want, and you won't question me. Understood?"

Chloe was stunned, her heart shattering into a million pieces. How could Code be so heartless? Her voice quivered as she whispered, "I can't believe you would say something like that. How could you treat me like this?"

The pain in her chest became unbearable, and she knew she had to escape the scene. Rushing upstairs, Chloe hastily opened her cupboard, frantically searching for her medication. "Come on where did these stupid pills go"

Once she found what she was looking for, she hurriedly opened the container and poured a handful of pills into her palm. Sipping from her water bottle, she swallowed all the pills at once, her desperation driving her to seek solace in the numbing embrace of the medication.

Afterwards, Chloe took off her training clothes, placed them in the laundry basket by the door, and retreated into the washroom. As the water ran down her body, she recalled the painful exchange with Code. The memories replayed in her mind like a haunting melody, and she couldn't hold back the flood of tears any longer.

Chloe sank to the floor of the shower, crying like a wounded child. Her heart ached with a pain that seemed unbearable, and she felt trapped in this living hell, unsure of how to escape the torment of her reality.

Finally, Chloe dashed out of the washroom with a small towel which she used to clean her hair, and then she noticed that Code and Martina were chit-chatting on her bed, And some maids were busy gathering her things.

"What's happening here?" Chloe inquired, clearly confused at what was going on.

"You have to exit this room, The maids are already packing your stuff to the guest room where you will be staying from henceforth. This room belongs to Martina now."

"Oh wow... what else was I expecting? Stupid me." Chloe Walked to the maids who were already packing her clothes into a box, her towel still wrapped around her. She grabbed a big shirt and shorts and then hurried back into the washroom.

When Chloe came out, her clothes had already been packed neatly in her box. Also, Code and Martina had made their way back to the living room. Chloe grabbed her luggage in annoyance and began to head down the stairs.

As she descended the stairs, a determined effort to escape her current predicament drove her forward. Code, however, couldn't let her go without a confrontation. "Where do you think you're going?" he called out, his tone colder than before.

Ignoring his question, Chloe pressed on, her eyes fixed on the front door. But before she could reach it, Code intercepted her path, blocking her way with a stern expression.

"Code, get the fuck out of my way!" She yelled.

"No, you are not going anywhere."

"I demand that you let me go this instant" Chloe ordered with teary eyes.

"You can't leave, not until your father has finished paying off his debt."

Chloe's heart sank as the realization hit her. She was trapped in this crazy situation, unable to escape until the financial burden placed on her family was resolved.

"Oh... My bad. I totally forgot that you literally own me now. How about I go to visit my dad for two days, you know... to clear my head from all this drama."

"With all this clothes?" Code chuckled softly. "You don't dictate for me, I give the orders. You are not going to be out of this house for more than 24 hours, You have till this night to be at your father's place. Take her box to her room" He ordered the maids who ran swiftly to carry out his orders.

"I can't believe he did this to you. I promise to work harder and get you out of there" Benny Adams, Chloe's father assured, placing a comforting hand on his daughter who was already shedding tears on the bed.

"That guy is really crazy" Jessica added. "Sometimes I wish I could punch him in the face for being a jerk to my sister."

"It's fine little sis, We will be over this soon and all these will be forgotten news. We would have our own mansion and then you would go to any institution of your choice. You won't have to sit back at home any more." Chloe assured her sister with tears in her eyes. "Once I am out of that house, I would start my three to four jobs again just to give you the best of life."

"Chloe, when last did you visit the doctor? What was his feedback?" Benny Adams asked, bending over to meet her gaze.

Her family knew about her illness, but they didn't know it had gotten to the point where there was a countdown on her days.

Chloe stood up and moved towards the window, knowing that an eyeball-to-eyeball with her father would definitely bring out the truth. "The doctor said I am getting better, maybe because I haven't gone to work or stressed myself in a while now."

"Oh, Gracious... At least one Good news. Come here darling give me a hug." Benny Adams said, stretching his hands towards Chloe. "And you too Jess" The family engaged in a big and teary hug. "Everything will be fine soon, I promise you."

Chloe couldn't stop herself from crying, What if her family found out that she had just 4 months to live...
