Chapter 7 Caught At The Airport

Senator Logan blamed himself for organizing the business meeting in his home. He thought about rebuilding a new welcoming area to receive his guests and to shield their eyes from his wife and daughter. He had seen the men lusting after his daughter and also his beautiful wife.

Nancy picked up her teacup and drank from it. After her breakfast with her parents ended, she finally spoke to them, "Dad, Mom, I want to go out and shop for the things that I will need. As you know, I just returned home, and some of my things in my room have run out."

"Okay, Nancy. Will you be using your car or have Matthew accompany you to the shopping mall? As you know, the wedding is tomorrow, and with some guests already having their eyes on you, I cannot take the risk of having them kidnap you before the wedding," her father said.

"But Dad, they don't know me. I mean, I am not a celebrity, and not everyone knows that I will be getting married to Charles tomorrow," Nancy replied. She could see her mother smiling at her while her father said, "I know, Nancy, but it's still safer to have the guards accompany you. Similarly, You're going to become the country's future first lady tomorrow, and many aren't happy and are already monitoring your activities as we speak."

Nancy frowned and replied, "Fine, Father. But I have to go now for the shopping so I can arrive home on time to prepare for my makeup and to style my hair too."

Nancy glanced at the dining room wall clock and saw it was already 9 am.

"That's alright. You can go now," her father dismissed her, and Nancy carefully walked out of the house, knowing that her escape wouldn't be easy with Matthew or the guards following her.

She walked out to meet Matthew, and he asked her, "Where to, sis?"

Matthew saw Nancy's sullen face, and she responded, "To the shopping mall."

"Alright, wait, I'm coming. Let me go inside and get my car keys first," Matthew replied as he walked away to the mansion.

"Please be fast," Nancy said impatiently, and Matthew replied, "Sure, I will."

Matthew walked into the mansion, and Senator Logan called him again to speak with him. While Nancy saw that Matthew wasn't coming out quickly, she walked up to her car door, pulled the front door open, got into the driver's seat, and shut her car door.

Nancy ignited the car engine and drove out of the mansion gate. The security gatemen didn't dare to stop her; the gateman only pulled the gate open for her to leave.

Nancy drove out at full speed while Matthew stepped out of the house and screamed, "Wait, Nancy!! Where are you going?"

Nancy didn't stop her car as she drove out to the airport road, knowing that she might be followed, but she wasn't ready to marry Charles.

She looked backward again and saw that her father's security men were already following her car from behind. She took a turn and headed to the shopping mall instead, since her flight had already been rescheduled to take off at 12 pm noon.

She relaxed and thought about going into the shopping mall to shop for new clothes and to change her appearance, as she was still in her blue long sweater and black trousers.

Nancy drove ahead to a big shopping complex. She parked her car in the parking lot area and stepped down. She saw Matthew arrive as he glared at her when he got out of his car.

"Why didn't you wait for me as I instructed you to?" Matthew asked, walking up to meet Nancy.

She smiled and replied, "I couldn't wait, as I want to be quick before the sun is completely out and burning brightly in the sky."

Nancy looked around at the shopping complex gate. The sun was already out and burning brightly on them while Matthew spoke, "Fine, I will be out here waiting for you, so be fast."

"Okay," Nancy smiled at Matthew, and she finally walked away from the cars and made her way into the huge shopping mall.

Nancy could see different advertisements for the various products sold in the shopping complex. The shopping mall was full and busy as it was Friday.

Nancy tried not to look backward again at Matthew as she made her way into one of the shops that were open at the front.

She stepped out from the shop and went into another shop that sold feminine wear too. She fell in love with the dresses she saw in the shop, and her eyes finally fell on a cute white bridal gown. She loved the white embroidery design on the gown.

Nancy wanted the gown, and with the shopping mall owners being busy and the shop gradually becoming crowded, she saw Matthew step into the shop to check up on her. He saw her standing in front of a wedding gown while a saleswoman finally walked up to meet her.

Matthew stepped out again, as mostly women were inside the shop. Nancy knew that her hair color was gold and was even attracting some females inside the shopping boutique to stare at her and admire her. Some women even asked her, "Excuse me, madam, is this your real hair or a wig?"

"It's my hair," Nancy muttered to them, but not wanting to become a celebrity overnight, as she hated anyone invading her privacy. She didn't even snap any beautiful photos of herself.

Nancy quickly asked the saleswoman who was attending to her, "Madam, do you have wigs? Like black colors or brown hair wigs?"

"Yes, Madam, this way please," the black saleswoman showed Nancy the wig colors they sold, and Nancy quickly bought one and put it on.

"Where's the fitting room?" Nancy asked again, and soon, she stepped out of the room looking completely different. She paid quickly for her new clothes that she was wearing and dashed out of the shop.

She had changed her clothes, and now she was wearing a long wine-colored gown that hugged tightly to her body and accentuated her hips and curves, even exposing her back.

Nancy really wanted to look different so Matthew wouldn't recognize her. She was still holding her red purse that contained her phone and all her travel documents, and she hurriedly exited the shopping mall and walked away.

Nancy could see Matthew beginning to ask the sellers questions about her whereabouts, giving them a description of what she looked like. She could see some young ladies beginning to point to the different directions they suspected she might have gone.

Nancy graciously exited the shopping mall gate, leaving her car behind, and finally got into a taxi. She released her breath as she wore a black wig on her head to conceal her long golden hair and some part of her face.

Nancy knew that Matthew would soon ask the last seller questions about her whereabouts. She remembered that the seller had stared at her in shock after she had changed her clothes and her appearance.

The wine gown provocatively brought out all her feminine shape and curves, and Nancy felt slightly uncomfortable in it, but she was still determined to escape. With the flight time being rescheduled, Nancy felt a little at peace, and she took out her mobile phone and immediately switched it off to avoid being tracked.

She watched the taxi driver drive the car towards the airport, and soon, they arrived in front of the airport building.

Nancy felt emotional as she hadn't told her family yet that she was leaving the city and going back to City X. She couldn't go back home unless she was going to marry Charles, as her parents wouldn't hesitate to give her to him.

Nancy also missed the simple life she lived in City X before, as no one knew her there as a billionaire's daughter. She missed the poor kids that she usually visited and played with at the orphanage homes.

Finally, she paid the taxi driver for her ride to the airport and stepped out of the cab. She graciously walked into the airport building to check in.

She didn't know that she was being followed. She avoided taking off her black wig and immediately checked in to meet with the flight attendant on duty.

Nancy released her breath as she showed the security man her international passport. But the security man immediately glared at her and seized her hand.

"What! Let go of my hand," Nancy screamed out, attracting the attention of others who were boarding their own flights and those who were also going into the aircraft to stare back at her.

The security man finally spoke to her, "Madam, you're under arrest, and you are not allowed to leave AJ City."

"What!" Nancy was so embarrassed and shocked.
